Not a restaurant as such but the Loughborough Grounded Kitchen is one of the better ones (Fosse Park is dogshit).

Went here on Saturday. Wasn't sure what to make of it to begin with, but it won me round by the end. The food was very good. The value was insane at £85 for four people (excluding drinks) and there was still enough for each of us to take some home. We were speaking to the chef and his wife, it turns out he was the original chef at the Broadway when it first opened, which makes sense as the food has never quite been as good at the Broadway since the first time that i went. It wasn't the busiest but picked up a bit as the night went on. They're not active on social media at all and don't seem to do any marketing. Great recommendation, and will deffo go back! Hopefully it survives.

The Talbot itself could be a great pub but is in completely the wrong area. Feels like a proper traditional village pub.

Glad you enjoyed it. Yes it’s a bit of a strange setting eating in what’s like a portakabin though you can eat in the pub if you would like a bit more atmosphere. The food is very good and the price is extremely reasonable like you said. Not sure if they will survive or not with the lack of social media and marketing of the place.

Next place on my list to try is the old Himalya/ crown hills. New chefs just took over Gurkha Curry, seem a little more active on social media.

If i was loaded, i'd buy the Talbot and try and turn it into a CAMRA style pub offering local and independent beers. The pub itself has everything you need, it just needs to sell good beer. I'd then keep Naaz and his wife on at the back restaurant serving up authentic Indian food. It would be the ultimate one stop shop. Have a pint of Blue Fox on cask before heading into the restaurant for some top notch Indian food. Ultimately, the pub would never work because of the location but it's good to dream lol

The Monk is a lovely place in Quorn/L'boro.

Agreed, ironically @JonnyBoy got me a voucher and he's asking for recommendations in the same area lol

Leicester really does lack a pub that blends cask and contemporary lager + craft lines. Plenty of pubs like it in Leeds, Sheffield and Nottingham.

The ale wagon is the closest to a Free Trade Inn or a Bath Hotel but obviously serves old boys well.

Given I drive down that road regularly and it was not on my radar, I appreciate this feedback.

Really good but need to book on a Sunday

Looking forward to Everest Lounge in Loughborough on Friday.

Reviews seem decent.

Hopefully it's changed hands in the last few years because I went 3 or 4 years ago and thought it was pretty poor

Recent reviews are good so hopefully. If it's no good, I'm hoping the beer is decent at least.

If you want good beer, the White Hart opposite is great

Had a roast at Cheney Arms yesterday and it was really good. New kitchen staff and owners I think

My old local! It's the JB Kitchen guy who used to be in Birstall and then Syston. His food is great but he's an absolute pain and has a falling out with every single place he operates from. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Feel the old Brewdog unit would have been a better spot.

Bit small maybe for a desi place, they like massive tables
