Soar Fox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 3 points adrift at the bottom of the league, 15 games left in desperate need of a left back and what does Pearson do? Sign some youth player from Aberdeen. Excellent business.

Sign some youth player from Aberdeen. Excellent business. So you think we should stop getting players in for the future then. Just ignore that completely, yup great idea. Some people will literally moan about anything.

Sign some youth player from Aberdeen. Excellent business. I say laugh out loud, but our transfer buisness is that bad, we have to laugh. If we were serious about staying up, we would bust a gut to get in the quality we need, and gamble a bit on extra wages for a loan deal.
Soar Fox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 So you think we should stop getting players in for the future then. Just ignore that completely, yup great idea. Some people will literally moan about anything. How many players in the last couple of years have we signed put in the development squad and actually contributed to the first team?
jonthefox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 So you think we should stop getting players in for the future then. Just ignore that completely, yup great idea. Some people will literally moan about anything. Just this once we need to think about the present. This late in the day we should be focusing on players who will make an immediate impact.
Babylon Posted 2 February 2015 Author Posted 2 February 2015 How many players in the last couple of years have we signed put in the development squad and actually contributed to the first team? What does that have to do with anything? They are all still in the development and youth teams. Should we just disband the idea and stop trying to get talent in at a young age because they aren't premier league starters in the space of a season or two?
jonthefox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 What does that have to do with anything? They are all still in the development and youth teams. Should we just disband the idea and stop trying to get talent in at a young age because they aren't premier league starters in the space of a season or two? There's a time and place Babs. And that's not now.
Babylon Posted 2 February 2015 Author Posted 2 February 2015 Just this once we need to think about the present. This late in the day we should be focusing on players who will make an immediate impact. You think this deal would actually stop us from signing someone else in? Come off it, people need to use a bit of common sense. The deal could have been on the card for weeks or months and if there was something imminent for the first team the club aren't idiots, they would put this to one side for that.
Babylon Posted 2 February 2015 Author Posted 2 February 2015 There's a time and place Babs. And that's not now. Sorry, but absolute bloody drivel, as explained above.
john doe Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 What does that have to do with anything? They are all still in the development and youth teams. Should we just disband the idea and stop trying to get talent in at a young age because they aren't premier league starters in the space of a season or two?the future is good plan plan plan but without now we sink and be happy with the bigger teams stealing them if there good enough
Babylon Posted 2 February 2015 Author Posted 2 February 2015 the future is good plan plan plan but without now we sink and be happy with the bigger teams stealing them if there good enough Again, I will repeat basic common sense. Just because we signed some kid from Aberdeen, it doesn't suddenly mean every resource at the club has gone into signing him does it. The deal could have been on the cards we weeks, or months. It could have been done and dusted but for a signature long before we ever knew. The club are not going to divert the attention of people who really matter in first team affairs to sign a kid are they, especially at the expense of another signing.
Dan Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 I really, really don't see how this can be used to beat Pearson? How exactly does this signing prevent us signing others?
jonthefox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 It just worries me that the only thing we seem to be developing is a team for the championship. You cannot tell me there isn't players out there , available now, we couldn't get with our supposed millions.
johnny the fox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 This is a big move for a young lad.. disparaging remarks are not needed..
Bayfox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 How many players in the last couple of years have we signed put in the development squad and actually contributed to the first team? Not sure as I don't think sven really looked that far ahead. How about if in 3 years time non of these lads pearson has signed are useless then get back to me. King, gradel, schlupp, moore, Lawrence, hopper, all made apps under np. Maybe a few more will make the grade. No on 2nd thoughts what we need more yaks, beckfords, mills
Soar Fox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 What does that have to do with anything? They are all still in the development and youth teams. Should we just disband the idea and stop trying to get talent in at a young age because they aren't premier league starters in the space of a season or two? None of them seem to be that talented though and it's not as if they are particularly young. James Pearson 22 years old been here 3 years on loan at Wrexham. Adam Dawson 22 years old been here 18 months on loan at Nuneaton. Jacob Blyth 22 years old been here 2 1/2 years on loan to Burton. That just 3 examples but none of them are hardly going to be pushing for a first team spot anytime soon are they.
ktfox59 Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 I say laugh out loud, but our transfer buisness is that bad, we have to laugh. If we were serious about staying up, we would bust a gut to get in the quality we need, and gamble a bit on extra wages for a loan deal. just a thought. Not a criticism of post, but does anyone think that we are now hindered by the long term contracts handed out to players who are now struggling with the quality of the premiership, on the back of last season? That maybe why we cant gamble on wages even for a few quality players even if we could attract them to us anyway?
Chelve84 Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 Think this says it all really. This don't strike me as a signing for the 1st team and if that is the case I don't see why we have waited till deadline day to do it. All city fans could see we needed a dominate midfielder a real presence and a left back, even in the summer we was saying this. Nigel has failed to sign these key positions and that could be the difference between relegation and survival. I don't think we will sign anybody else tonight because he has left it too late.
jonthefox Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 I really, really don't see how this can be used to beat Pearson? How exactly does this signing prevent us signing others? It doesn't. However the logistics of signing a player ie medicals , league clearance etc, our time in this particular window could be better spent.
Babylon Posted 2 February 2015 Author Posted 2 February 2015 It just worries me that the only thing we seem to be developing is a team for the championship. Based on what? Signing Robert Huth, a good premier league CB. Signing a £7/8m Centre forward wanted by Chelsea? You cannot tell me there isn't players out there , available now, we couldn't get with our supposed millions. Of course there are. But we don't have unlimited scouting resources, we'll have made lists of players and scouted them extensively. If you go down the list and none of them are available for whatever reason what do you do? Sign players you don't really fancy or haven't scouted properly?
