Arriba Los Zorros Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Post your preferred formation and opinion of our best team I'll go 4-1-4-1, with wingbacks getting forward Kasper De Laet Huth Was Schlupp Hammond Mahrez James Cambiasso Knockaert Kramaric Not sure if Kram being up front alone would work, I'm also sad to drop Nuge. However AK could play off him if needed. Think we do need 3 in central midfield and it's the best way to do it/ Thoughts?
cc_star Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 there isn't a 'best' team It all depends on who we're playing Pearson got the tactics spot on against both Palace & Arsenal With Palace who counterattack it was import we had busy, energetic workhorses who could pressure defenders and cut out the 'passing lanes' from the back to upfront, it worked perfectly and if any of them could have scored we'd have ran out comfortable 3 or 4-1 winners With Arsenal who are a possession side, it was important we had extra bodies back and the supposed 541 allowed that, especially as the '1' drifted back so we were essential forward-less and the team could push on in numbers when we did attack like some of the top European teams do Again, barring an individual error or two, it worked perfectly It could even be argued that despite the dire first half showing at Utd, the tactics of playing Vardy out wide were sound as we knew they'd be fired up like never before and that they are a possession team since Fergie left so we had to break with pace, unfortunately we couldn't get a foot on the ball anywhere in order to deliver balls to pacey widemen Basically, horses for courses
Buzzell Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Huth Was Konchesky Cambiasso James Mahrez Kramaric Schlupp Ulloa
Danizen Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Knockaert hasn't really found his feet at this level. It's a shame because the only player who works harder is Vardy and we all know what he is capable of. I like him but I wouldn't even consider him for our best XI
Ian W LCFC Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Schwarzer Simpson Was Huth Konch Mahrez Cambiasso Hammond Albrighton Nugent Kramaric Difficult choices were: Albrighton or Schlupp Hammond/James Nugent/Ulloa
Weller in Tights Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Hamer Simpson. Huth. Was. De Laet Cambiasso. James Mahrez. Kramaric. Schlupp Ulloa I know a few people have rightly pointed out that the table doesn't lie. However our squad has enough class in it to produce good football. Look at how we have played recently at for example Spurs at home, Liverpool away, Arsenal away. I know we only got one point out of nine from those games, but the football at times was as good as anything you'll see in the premiership. Although I will be very disappointed if we go down, I have this season seen some good football and feel with a little luck we could well be sitting around 12th to 14th. In the Premiership success/failure can be defined by very fine margins. What is clear is that you cannot afford to carry weak players. If the old saying 'your team is as good as its worst player' is true, well that would say it all. Who has been consistently poor? I know it's a matter of opinion but for me it's Konch. I sincerely mean that it is sad to say this, a couple of seasons ago he was an asset, I don't like the scapegoating of players and I am certainly not blaming our season on him. But, as I said, if your team is as good as your weakest player, well he's our weakest and he is at best a Division 1 player now.
steezy Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Depends who we're playing but my preferred team would be a 4-3-1-2: Hamer/Schmeichel (NOT Schwarzer) Upson, Was, Simpson, Huth Mahrez, Cambiasso, Schlupp, Nugent/Albrighton Ulloa, Kramaric

I honestly think he's not been as bad as Morgan and more recently, Schwarzer. How many games has Schwarzer played...3? Two times the opposition scored because he couldn't hold onto the ball. Also the goal Palace scored against us... I could easily see Hamer stopping that.
Unabomber Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Wasyl Huth Konchesky James Cambiasso Mahrez Knockaert Schlupp Kramaric Is something I would like to see.

blueonyou Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Ak's not really proven himself yet, aside from that pretty much spot on
Buzzell Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Ak's not really proven himself yet, aside from that pretty much spot on True but tbf to him he's not really been given the chance though.
yorksfox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 There appears to be little agreement on the strongest side, except that neither Morgan nor Schwarzer should be starting! Hamer must be one of the most unfortunate players in the Premier League, together with Hammond and Albrighton. I would put those three in firstly and then pick another eight! Football is a reasonably simple game - don't have any favourites, no selection guaranteed and don't sign anyone who is well past the best. Nigel's stubbornness and loyalty to certain players has cost us countless points this season. It is probably too late to replace him now, immediately after the Villa defeat in December was the time. Continuity can be a great thing but in the last 15 months Palace and West Brom have had 6 permanent managers between them (plus various 'caretakers') and guess which division they will be playing in next season?
LCFCCKEANO Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Hamer/Schwarzer(if he gets up to match speed and mistakes stop) Simpson Huth Upson Konch(if he continues on from last night, if not De Laet) Hammond Cambiasso James Mahrez Schlupp Kram Shame it is so late on, that looks like a surviving team, can battle in the middle, clever passing defenders with a fluid, dynamic front 3, capable of dominating or counter attacking, and a plan b with Albrighton and Ulloa of the bench, such a shame we have dug ourselves a hole
Torten Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Was Huth Konch Mahrez James Cambiasso Schlupp Nugent Kramaric
benpicko Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Ak's not really proven himself yet, aside from that pretty much spot on I thought he did in the few matches he played when Mahrez and Schlupp were out. Very good defensively and positive in attack. Thought it was unfair to not give him another chance after that but understandable with Schlupp coming back, less understandable Vardy getting in ahead of him and Albrighton though.
Fosse93 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Our best team - hasn't been good enough Great input. Real contribution to the thread right there. In my opinion our strongest 11 are: GK. Kasper RB. Simpson CB. Wasilewski CB. Huth LB. Konchesky RM. Mahrez CM. James CM. Cambiasso LM. Schlupp CAM. Nugent ST. Kramaric

Oxfordfox83 Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Hamer RDL Was Huth Upson Konch Mahrez/Albrighton James Cambiasso Schlupp Kram With Nuge instead of Upson against teams we have to break down. Right now, I think Albrighton is worth a start ahead of Mahrez, but he's bound to put in a blinder against City so maybe stick with him...
