So does the season extend and finish in July and then have a short summer? Or we cramming 2 months worth of games in somewhere?

Will the football league stop as well? As some teams may have the odd player away.

I can see them possibly cancelling both cup competitions to help out on cutting games down and putting league games more frequently. Either that or prem teams will purposely lose to get out of the extra games.

There's no need to cancel the FA Cup. Third round day is in January so that'll be fine. The League Cup might start earlier in the season but again there's not much to change there. The main thing you'll see is abolition of replays in the FA Cup (finally imo anyway, if you're not going to have them in the semi and final why keep them for 1-QF?)

 

I see no reason why Leagues 1, 2 and below should be cancelled during that shambles, unless FIFA interfere. They'll know when England's games will be (assuming we're still decent in seven years time) and can schedule around that if need be.

 

If you look at this season and the time of each WC you're looking at five PM games we'd lose in the period, and the League Cup QF. Might be the case we just extend the season by a week or two, or have a few more midweek rounds.

I think if both teams agree that they want to decide it on the day then they should be able to. Otherwise the replays should remain, you're underestimating how important the revenue generated during a cup run can be for smaller teams.

I hate to say this but I kinda hope we don't qualify, it won't half **** up our leagues for two seasons running. Unless the premier league continues on during the tournament? i dunno. I know most of the squads will be without there top players while the tournament is on, but at least it'll give some of the youth lads in the first team a go.

You just have to sit back and laugh really. How on earth has it come to us having to give up a month in our season to play a World Cup in a country that's never even come close to qualifying for one?

Touche. Was just trying to think of ways they can accomodate the 1 to 1.25 months of schedule conflict. I guess the obvious solution is more games closer together or even extended into june etc.

Also, it really doesn't matter whether England qualify or not. Considering the amount of foreign international players the Premier League has, it's definitely going to be affected.

 

Can only assume Qatar will be reimbursing the top leagues in some way to account for the disruption. Otherwise they'd be up in arms about this. Especially the Premier League.

Just leave it as it is. Squads consist of 25 odd players who are all theoretically good enough to play in the premier league. Let players go to the world cup and hopefully we see some interesting teams making champions league and big teams getting relegated. Lets face it the 2022 premier league season looks to be a very interesting one.

Literally no way would they let that happen. They rely on clubs like Man City & Chelsea for viewing figures (which is all they're really bothered about).

The Premier League is not going to carry on whilst a major tournament is in progress and the league's best players are involved.

Maybe the season would start in July to legislate for an extra few games? The whole situation really is laughable. You just want them to have it taken away from them but they'll worm their way into still hosting it, no doubt.
