It may have gone against us at the time and been absolutely gut wrenching but the Deeney goal is a perfect wxample of why I love football. The fact the same thing happened to Brentford the week before topped it off as well

I love the attitude of some that go "you never saw them, I did, I got to see Leicester seven times at Wembley, how can you enjoy those moments cause you're too young to remember them."

Because of course everyone chooses how old they are...

Watching those just pisses me off even more, we had a chance to repeat those memories, maybe even surpass them, and we've totally and utterly in the most pathetic way possible, ****ed it all up..... buzzing for Blackburn away......

If we go down we already have some great memories from this season, Man Utd at home, Spurs in the cup, Liverpool away.

I was there at all of em. Crying out for a defensive midfielder!

Watching the Tranmere game makes you realise just how shite the current team is. We have no-one who can cross a ball like Guppy, or attack it like Elliott.

Happy days.

I have asked myself on many occasions this season, especially away games why do I bother, but it's like a drug, I don't need it, but I can't not do it, be there.

Did somebody say that to you personally as that's not been said in this thread as far as I can see.

Some great moments in there. Howard's goal against Leeds that all but assured promotion was special.

Why does Spearing celebrate?

It still pisses me off when I head Stringer say "it's our year" even though it turned out to be.

Honestly though I don't really like these clips as it reinforces that football is about snapshot moments. We live in the age of the selfie, the 30 second youtube clip, the instantly uploaded video of you on your holiday. Here's me at the Taj Mahal, here's me checking into Budapest airport, here's my steak and chips in Brussels.

Football's about the long slog, the camaraderie, spending time with your friends and family watching mostly rubbish in a mostly futile attempt to hold on to the youth and manhood slipping through your fingers. It's about an early morning drive to Southend, conceding a last minute own goal and stopping off in the pub on the way home to dissect the finer points of Alan Maybury's full back play.

It's not about long range shots with willy puller-commentator soundbites over the top. It's not about a compilation of our Championship winning season with some uplifting indie shmindie soundtrack. We'll leave that for the Liverpool fans from Bedford. Give me pissing up a drain at Layer Road any day.
