Happy Fox Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Derby-are-preparing-a-1-2m-raid-on-neighbours-rivals-Leicester-for-striker-Martyn-Waghorn-article725962.html Nigel Clough is preparing a £1.2million raid on East Midlands rivals Leicester for striker Martyn Waghorn. Derby boss Clough will have transfer cash this summer and is to invest in firepower with Waghorn a top target. Waghorn, 21, has struggled to hold down a place under Sven Goran Eriksson and now has a hamstring injury. But Clough will bid for the former Sunderland star after being promised funds by Derby’s American owners. He said: “If we can bring the players in we would like we will try and assemble a squad to finish in the top six.”
The MayneFox Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 Que the "Martyn Waghorn is a blue is a blue...." well i dont blame if he goes, we love him but i think Sven has other plans with him <_<
KFS Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 If he goes, he would turn into the Hume/ Fryatt/ Gradel of next season. He'll score a bag load to propell them up the league and they'll do the double on us with his goals. Provided we're still in this league
Mjlewis08 Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 I suppose its more likely that Waghorn will be at Derby than Clough next season.

Fryatt has only ever played well for NP and I think we all would take Gradel back but Waghorn wouldn't be a massive loss
Leicester Lass Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 We'd be crazy to turn down anything like that much money for him.
ozleicester Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 I like Waggys endeavour and excitement, however he is still young and dont think he fits into Sven plans. TBH the 2+ million we paid was a little high at the time.

muzzy1981 Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 Think its sad that he was never given a good partner upfront under Sven, but think 1.2m would be good money for a player who will always be on the findges.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 I thoroughly expect the Pearson-player bummers to arrive on the scene and criticise Sven for the temerity to dispose of yet ANOTHER former Pearson player (yes, signed permernant while Sousa what here, don't be pedantic). Has not been value for money, cash in while we can, move onto better players, because we have the financial ability to.
Guest parky0607 Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 I think it would be a good offer but it'd be a joke to accept that when we pay 2-3 mill for him, barely use him for one season, then sell him for 1-2 mill less ... what's the point springs to mind

Roy Cropper Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 Based on this seasons showing thats about £1m more than he's worth so snap their hands off. Then stick a tenner on them going down next season.
thybluefox Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 I don't want him to go, although that's more because I like him as a bloke rather than thinking he's going to bang 20 in next season. Wouldn't be so bad if we found a good striker.
Simmo86 Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 I'd snap there hand off for 1.5 million. Need better than him to get out of this division. Scratching about at the bottom of the Championship is his and the Mutton****ers level!

cairnsy Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 Try get £1.5-2m for him. Owners won't be happy if they wasted £1.8 mil in one pop

sdb Posted 21 April 2011 Share Posted 21 April 2011 Can't believe people are happy to just get rid. We need a few grafters in the team and he's shown glimpses of real quality with us. Not his fault this season hasn't worked out for him. Only so much you can do on the bench/treatment table.
