Cobbo Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 It'll be to get treatment for his injury - it's what happens when loanees are injured. If we want him in the summer he will be back.
maddog Posted 6 April 2009 Author Posted 6 April 2009 WHAT Birch said on moan in Gilberts dislocated his shoulder like Cleverly, and gone back Arsenal, and won't play for the rest of the season. Which IMO leaves us pretty screwed as we don't have another actual right back apart from Edworthy who certainly won't be match fit. What could go wrong next for us
Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 We seem to be jinxed with our new signings and loans this season. So much so that we will be playing with practically the same team that got relegated last year soon.
Koke Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 We are pretty ****ed. Having Morrison or Hobbs at right back for the 5 remaining crucial game is pretty daunting.
Corky Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Shame, he's been a good, solid player for us this season. Would like to see him back next season if possible.
Bert Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Am I the only one that's not bothered about Morrison playing at right back? He's looked fairly comfortable there.
Guest Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Am I the only one that's not bothered about Morrison playing at right back? He's looked fairly comfortable there. I prefer him there to Hobbs definitely, but I do think when Edworthy's played for us he's been pretty solid and hasn't done much wrong so provided he's fit I'd hope Nige considers him, I don't really want to go back to that 'square pegs in round holes' debacle we had last season if we can help it
maddog Posted 6 April 2009 Author Posted 6 April 2009 1 more injury to a key player, i.e Howard or King or Dyer or Hobbs, and we will be seriously fooked.
Corky Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 I've got no problem with Morrison at right-back. Hobbs and Kisnorbo can't really play there and Morrison is not a bad option. I'm sure Thrac will come on and say that Porter once played at right-back so he's in with a shout
MC Prussian Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Great timing. However, it does give some of the fringe players an opportunity to shine. Enter Morrison. And Edworthy on the bench?
davieG Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Morrison can do a decent job at full back. Agree Am I the only one that's not bothered about Morrison playing at right back? He's looked fairly comfortable there. Agree
Fosse Boy Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 I wasn't aware there were two Gilberts. But seriously, another annoying setback.
chesterfox Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Gutted tbh - he gave a lot as an attacking full back and was good cover for the centre backs - let's see a settled defence for the last 5 which means Morrison Hobbs Kisnorbo Mattock and keep Brown well away...... although why is it we lose so often with Kisnorbo in the team??
Thracian Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 I've got no problem with Morrison at right-back. Hobbs and Kisnorbo can't really play there and Morrison is not a bad option.I'm sure Thrac will come on and say that Porter once played at right-back so he's in with a shout I'll be delighted to see Morrison do well at right back. But all I see is a stopper who will move over and try to do what he does in the middle against faster opponents. If someone would tell me how Morrison will ever support our attacks and then have the energy to recover for 90 minutes I'll be more than glad of the reassurance.
Joe. Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Disappointing really. It looks like we've got very little in the way of sufficient cover, and we certainly haven't got anybody who could fill the more attacking role that Gilbert possessed. As for the future, it wouldn't surprise me to see Pearson go for him in the summer. He'd be available at a fairly low price I'd assume; certainly not good enough for Arsenal or another Premier League club for that matter, but he'd do a steady enough job in the Championship I think. I wouldn't be disappointed if he came here on a permanent anyway.

Edworthy I suppose, but I can't see him getting forward any more than Morrison.
