davieG Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 We've seen him in a few cameo appearances so is he for us? He's obviously got an abundance of football skills but is he suitable for the hustle and bustle of the Championship? He seems to want to take a lot of time on the ball and is then harried into sloppy passing. I think if NP wants to keep and develop him for Championship football he's got to toughen him up and improve his speeded of thought on the ball. He surely seems to like it here and to have settled in well and with his undoubted ball control and vision could be worth a risk if he's not to expensive wages wise. 1 year contract with a 1 year option - which of course he might not accept.
Matt Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I like him but feel he needs alot of work, as you offer him a years deal if he wants more then he knows where the door is.
Ibbyfox Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 Seems a bit to eager sometimes if that is possible - trying too hard if you like. Undoubted skill on the ball though - but, as you say, he wants too much time and I worry about him losing possesion everytime he gets the ball.
Jay Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I thought he was shocking on Friday, looked off the pace, always tried to complicate things, seemed to take to long to think about what he was going to do BUT he can pass the ball well, has some good skills and from the practice before kick off has a wicked shot on him you could say that his bad points will disappear after a few league games and that he is worth a shot but I'm not sure we have room for that sort of luxury in midfield If anything we need a big strong hard tackling midfielder not an Astrit sort of player so it would be a no from me.
C-man Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I thought he was great against Carlisle, but woeful on Friday night. Because S****horpe are the better side out of the two, it'd be more realistic to judge him on that, although judging on one or two appearances is pretty harsh. On Friday, he looked like he took too much time on the ball, made silly decisions with his passing which could have cost us a goal or two, but he got away with it. The only excuse that can be offered is that the formation (if you can call it that), didn't have any structure to it and it ended up being very congested in midfield. I'd sign him up on a year's contract and see what he can offer us in pre-season.
Jimmy Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 worth a two-year deal, especially on free transfer and we're short on midfielders too
Thracian Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 Show pony. I'm all for em when they're as tough as George Best or Cristiano Ronaldo but fancy tricks are no use at all if you can only do them as a pre-match circus act. He might have the occasional blinder but they'd be as rare as the Puffins arriving in Lovund. Reminds me of Djiziri. All tricks and no outcome. Return to sender.
Hitesh Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I think he has got talent and can do well but needs to toughen up and work harder with his delivery. I think he has been trying too hard to impress and its doing him no good. But I think we should give him a chance with a contract and he will be a decent squad player given some improvment over the summer. It must be difficult for him a little to come down from Liverpool as his confidence must be low and also, he hasn't played much league football at all so that doesn't help. I say give him a chance - you never know, he could be great!
dandannieldanok Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I've only seen him against Scunny and he was pretty rubbish, could be worth a year contract if Pearson thinks there is some promise there though.
pooleyLCFC Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 Its a no from me i dont think he is any better than what we have got and i would prefer to see King than him.
leicesterseddon Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 big no from me. we've got to get real if we want to do well next season.
Mikey Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 No from me. Will struggle in the Championship hustle and bustle.
Webbo Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 From what I've seen I really don't rate him, however he seems to be highly rated by some so he must have something. I'll trust Nige's judgement on this.
Wezleylowski Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I dont think he will struggle with the hustle and bustle of the championship. He's a big lad and with abit of Nigels love I think Astrit could potentially be a good player for us in the future. Lets not forget he's only 19 ( It was his birthday 9 days ago according to wiki). Definitely worth a punt.
FoxesFan123 Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 worth a two-year deal, especially on free transfer and we're short on midfielders too Really, are we? To add to King and Oakley, knowitall has said Weso will be back here next season, and its more than likely so will Clemence. We also have Berner, and it seems Cleverly could return in a loan move again. Thats assuming Astrits a centre mid...
shiv Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I'd like to see more of him. I've only seen him a couple of times and he hasn't been great but he hasn't really played enough. Another loan spell maybe?
dave_the_fox Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I wouldnt take him from what I have seen, but if he does sign, in Nige we trust!
Cobbo Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 He had a poor game on Friday - but I think he has enough raw talent to give a contract and then try and make a player out of him. Sign him up.
Matt Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I'd like to see more of him. I've only seen him a couple of times and he hasn't been great but he hasn't really played enough. Another loan spell maybe? Out of contract at Liverpool in the summer I think, they are trying to offload him to us, we have first choice on him, thus suggesting the year contract.
Stuliasz Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 One side of me says he hasn't impressed enough in his cameos to warrant a contract. The other side says that Liverpool fans seem to rate him, Pearson doesn't just get players in for the sake of it and must have seen something in him to give him a go and he has got some raw talent. I suppose it his down to how good he has been in training as much as in his cameos but I'd give him a one-year contract and go from there.
shiv Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 Out of contract at Liverpool in the summer I think, they are trying to offload him to us, we have first choice on him, thus suggesting the year contract. Oh right, well I wouldn't mind him in the squad then, but I don't really know if he's any good. A one year contract could be harmless I guess...
Salieri Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 Can't go far wrong with a one year contract. Don't suppose he would be commanding astronomical wages. He obviously has some talent and if anyone can improve his game and eradicate the silly mistakes, Nige can.
maddog Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 No thanks. He's no better than Zsolt and Bori and we never signed them, so i can't see us signing him. Although Pearson may like him, and 1 year deal on low wages would be alright i suppose.
