Astrit - What do you think!

He had a poor game on Friday - but I think he has enough raw talent to give a contract and then try and make a player out of him.

Sign him up.

I think we should continue to have a look at him over pre season training and matches, he's not going to be offered a new deal by liverpool so he will become a free agent this summer making it easier to keep him on board, we haven't really seen enough of him this season and if he was signed up now then I would feel a bit cautious, if another team comes in for him then I don't think we should battle for his signature. So, mixed reactions.

I think people saying no are being a bit silly - the boys just 19 years old, in total hes had about an hour of football, his fitness levels wont be there, nor will his match sharpness. You cannot judge a player on an hour of football, especially when his hour has been in probably 10 minute bursts.

I'd give him a contract. One for the future if nothing else. Our team has produced some good young players over the last few seasons, and I think they could do a lot of good with Astrit too.

Agreed. Think he was trying to impress to much on Friday. He is young and patients is a must, if Nigel thinks he is good enough from training then lets stay patient when he comes onto the pitch and develop him. I (and IMO) inparticular like the way he shapes himself when recieving the ball ready to make the next pass/move, suggests he has good technique (although over exuberance on Friday masked this!)

Pearson knows what he's doing, if he's not good enough Pearson's not gonna sign him because he feels sorry for him. He obviously has something there, and is something to work with and mould if you like.

I agree about him trying too hard, perhaps there's a pressure on him because it's the end of the season and he wants to stay or he feels he has to do well because we're doing so well.

From Swedefox on TB

Swedish press reporting today that Leicester and a Premier League club are interested in signing him.

Some quotes from Astrit:

"Leicester are negotiating with Liverpool and my agent at the moment".

"It was hard to get in to the team as they (Leicester) were top of the league when I came and things just got on. I was signed more as a "helping hand" but I've played in some big games for the club. It feels much better than before because I've played with the first team now."

What has the manager said to you?

"He's happy and says he wants to keep for next season in the Championship."

"Leicester and another club are substantially interested. It's not a huge club like Liverpool or Manchester United, but it's a Premier League club."

"To be honest I didn't know much about Leicester before I came here, but now when I'm here I know it's a really big club. With the fans here the club is big enough for the Championship. It has Premier League potential."

Clearly got technical ability and bags of enthusiasm, the question marks lie over his mental ability. So far his decision making has been poor, and he looks like a headless chicken most of the time. I'd sign him, hopefully with match practice the mental side of his game will improve.

If we could some how get hold of Zsolt Laczo and have both of them running the wings, we would be unstoppable!!

An 19 year old Midfielder with some skill and a superb shot, but tries too hard and makes a fool of himself, might be worth it depending on his wage demands.

Good lord.

Give him a year's deal, if it's not working out we can give him to Cheltenham for the rest of the season! As long as the four or five he's looking to sign is four or five and Astrit too.

He looks like he could be good but I've not really seen enough to make a proper judgement, other than that he seems to have a fooking hard shot on him. I trust Nige to make the right decision

Reading some of the views on Astrit makes me realise how hard it would be to buy a club and leave someone else to spend your money.

And remembering the value we got from Djiziri, Kaebi, Hellings, Laczko, and many others I won't bother mentioning only makes me shudder even more at the thought.

Different regime, different era.

Considering Nige has been 95% spot on with his signings, then it's only fair we trust him on this one. I haven't seen enough of Astrit to make a fair judgement on him, so I can't comment on whether we should keep him or not.

Not for me, but nobody has really seen that much of him.

Never really seemed to have control of the ball on Friday and ended up rushing a lot of his passes. But Liverpool won't be keeping him on for the sake of it and if Pearson has seen enough to justify a short term contract, then fair play.

I think people are desperate for some flair football (Ric doesn't seem to around much these days :P ).

For all that it has been nice to dominate this League it has, on the whole been down to workmanlike performances. Hopefully we've not yet seen the best of Dyer, Gradel or King but it's always good to have some options to change a game with a sub that offers something different.

As you say we don't want circus performers or lazy show-boaters we certainly don't want another Williams to carry. I'm just hoping that with a hard-nosed ex-defender in Pearson he can add some hardness, urgency and directness to his game without the flair that he appears to have.

That's a very generous view of his signings.

Maybe slightly generous but you'd have to say he hasn't done much wrong really has he?
