Guest Bilo Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 If relegation threatened Wigan are our best competition for Westwood, then we must have a shot at bringing him in. I can't imagine his international prospects would be much better at a bottom four or five Prem club than they would at a promotion chasing Championship one, and that's assuming Wigan stay up. Can't imagine we'll get Given, think he'll go to a Premiership club and his wages are likely to dwarf Westwood's.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 errm yeah!!! Westwood has to be better that Chris "Butter Fingers" Weale or Retardo
Dan Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Would be absolutely superb. Would sort our goalkeeping problem and it'd ignite Leicester & Coventry as a rivalry a bit, something that's been needed for YEARS.

Guest Bilo Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Anything that made the trip to the Ricoh even slightly atmospheric would be welcomed. Except Marlon King.
Darkon84 Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Anything that made the trip to the Ricoh even slightly atmospheric would be welcomed. Except Marlon King. well added on the end
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Anything that made the trip to the Ricoh even slightly atmospheric would be welcomed. (It's going in!) Except Marlon King. (Oooh, nice save!)
sdb Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 A lot of good keepers in the prem, not many sides would be signing him as their no.1. We've defo got a chance.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 I almost forgot to qualify my statement. Westwood would be a great signing to be fair, I think he'd fancy it as well; moving from a managerless club teetering on the brink of administration with no real prospects to a club with money to spend, a talented squad and Sven-Goran Eriksson in charge. Hope it comes off, I rate him highly.
bigneville Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Westwood is a good goalkeeper and would certainly be an improvement on what we have. If he is to come, I would expect it to be later in the summer until his agent has tried to get him a Premiership move. If no Premiership club can offer him what he requires, then I'm sure we will be up towards the top of his list. However, I'm certain he will be looking for a Premiership move firstly before considering a Championship club.
oxford blue Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 I agree he'd be an excellent signing. Last seasonhe was CFFC Player of the Season, Players' Player of the Season; and also won Player of the Season awards from thel Coventry City Supporters Club, It seems Wigan are the Premiership side most interested in him; even if they stay up, it's likely Leicester could at least could come close to his wage at Wigan and he woud have better long term prospects.Thinking optmistically, I assume he'll live close to Coventry, so a move to Leicester would mean he wouldn't have to move home. it's important we get a keeper -like Westwood- who is confident in handling the ball and has the confidence to dominate his area. This would help younger defenders to develop too; I think Hobbs could benefit in particular.
Ruthless Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 I'd prefer someone whos let in less goals this season like Borigli or Forster
