billyfox1 Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 Deadline is mid june apparently "Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has been informed that his comments at the Fans Forum that Marlon King, Keiren Westwood and Aron Gunnarsson have 21 days from when they were given a contract in order to agree, is not quite correct, the CT are this morning reporting. The players in questions under Football League rules have until the middle of June to agree or reject any contract offered to them" http://www.coventrycity-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/city_out_of_contract_trio_have_june_deadline_677571/index.shtml

David Guiza Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 Surely if it is between us and Everton he's got to come to us. He's only going to be a number 2 at the Toffees so that would show a serious lack of ambition.
ScouseFox Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 We could probably out do Everton in terms of wages, as well I'd have thought.
Rhysm Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 Surely if it is between us and Everton he's got to come to us. He's only going to be a number 2 at the Toffees so that would show a serious lack of ambition. They wouldn't sell it to him as "you are going to be number two" they would sell it as "You will be challenging Tim Howard". You could argue that he would show more of a lack of ambition to turn down that sort of challenge on the basis he has taken the easy option to go somewhere he is as good as nailed on for a first team appearance. I would actually rather have players who want to fight for their place then someone who thinks they can walk straight into the first team.
Joe. Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 We could offer equal or more money and a guarantee of first team football. Given our aspirations for next season, I'd say we're in with a shout. But he's been craving Premier League football for a while now, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him pitch up at Goodison. Can't help but feel he'd regret it, though.
ajthefox Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 I'd be more surprised to see him come here than I would see him at Everton. Howard is getting on and whilst Westwood probably won't start, it's still a massive move for him. Guaranteed start for us but I'm not so sure thats a massive selling point really, since he's been starting for Cov for ages. Premiership football is something I think most would find hard to turn down.

I can imagine him having a conversation with Gally along the lines of 'how confident are you that leicester will go up next season?" (and if gally says 100% I could see him coming here) - if he is ambitious I think Leicester would be the better move at the moment, rather than Everton.
SMX11 Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 First team football at any club > Bench at Everton Well that is what I would think if I was a pro.
KingDarius Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 Hope we get him ! Sure I heard it from somewhere that he lives in lestoh probaby my brothers mates sisters cousin but im sure i did ! Sven will sort it out practically a done deal lads

I rate him as the best keeper outside the prem in this country but no way is he better than Howard. I am sure he will know that he would come to us as number 1 and with the finances dodgy at Everton can at least match their offer.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 Joe Murphy been released today from Scunny. Useful squad player I reckon....
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 Would snap up murphy straight away! Not any better than what we already have imo and certainly no where near as good as Westwood.
Sylvie85 Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 I agree he may not be as good as westwood, but in the games i've seen him play i think he's better than what we've got.

SMX11 Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 He would be rather stupid if he went to Sunderland. Competition with two good goalkeepers, he would have very little chance of getting in the first team squad. One of the keepers must be leaving otherwise Steve Bruce is trying to strengthen an area they don't need to.
