Surrender was no option? Prison? Detention at first, sure. If he hadn't done anything, he'd walk free again after a while. But at least he wouldn't be dead. As much as I hate people getting shot and as much as the father-son combo is to blame to a large extent for what happened, it's not as if Arbury didn't have other options. Then again, that's easy to say in hindsight. At least the shooters will get their sentence and end up in prison for a long time. Here's hoping.

You have every right to discuss British politics if you're inclined. That freedom exists for everyone. When I criticize AOC, I criticize her based on what she's done for her district and the content of her speech. She seems to be more interested in pushing her own persona in Washington than taking care of issues back home in NY. For someone with a bachelor in economics, she knows little about her field of study. How come she let it come this far in the 14th District becoming the most infected place in all of Manhattan? Why did self-isolation not work out here? https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/04/us/politics/coronavirus-alexandria-ocasio-cortez.html The 52% approval rating in comparison to the other major politicians isn't really much of a surprise when you look at the others' track record and failures. That number is from 2019 and surely also down to the novelty and "fresh face" factor back then, I wonder that the approval rating is today. Same goes for all the other mentioned percentages in her favour. Cabrera can count, you just misread his quote. Both sentences are correct. She was voted down 57-0, including all of her (43) Democrat colleagues. Her voters certainly don't identify with Democratic Socialism, and that for a good reason. "Socialism" is frowned upon in most of the Western World. And as you know, many of her constituents come from countries where the Socialist Experiment has failed (miserably). In times like these, unprecedented for the last four, five generations, it's hard to judge or criticize rather unique political decisions on a national level now, as the virus is still ongoing. That's something to discuss in the months or years to come, looking back. Stimulus bills are needed in any case, as businesses would otherwise struggle and go bankrupt more easily. The question remains whether they'll be able to pay back all these credits. We'll see lots of businesses going bust in the next few weeks and months regardless, but you could equally blame them for not prepping up for such a scenario. If anything, it shows the lack of liquidity and the clouds some of these businesses are built on. AOC does not realize that, instead stands out thanks to an impressive, but stupid quote. It sounds kind of odd for a person such as AOC to go against the grain in this regard, when she's the one pushing for medicare for all, free tuition at public colleges and a federal jobs guarantee. All government money. To me, AOC is mostly show, famous for her personality, but not her political achievements, no bills passed, wacky, unrealistic ideas. The Green New Deal, not allowing Amazon in NY, for instance. She's confident, I salute her for that. Sadly. she's highly incompetent also.

Georgia has a law in place that allows neighborhood intervention - until the police arrives. So they were in their right to try and stop the jogger based on that suspicion. He had no means to escape? There was a left, there was a right. He was an athlete, and in great physical shape. The harassment part is pure conjecture at this point in time. According to the McMichaels, they were chasing after a suspect and unsuccessful in cutting him off. Like I've said before, the McMichaels are scum for letting it come this far and shooting a guy. Way too trigger-happy. What if Arbury had simply handed himself in? I mean, he's seen jogging towards the car at first. Doesn't look like the typical behaviour of a criminal to me in that moment. I just think about the situation when you have a person you consider to be a burglar (and Arbury had an alleged criminal history) struggles over a shotgun, potentially grabbing it out of a family member's hands. Risking your family member's life and your own, what would you do? I suppose they could've incapacitated him instead of killing him, targeting his limbs. At least he'd still be alive and able to give his side of the story. It certainly wasn't a murder in cold blood, as some media outlets suggest.

I don't see why this warrants another one of these odd digs at people on here for their alleged political affiliations. Most of all, this case again highlights the issue with media, their coverage and local corruption in the US. According to some reports, Arbury had a history of run-ins with the law himself and there were reports of a burglary in the neighborhood. I'm not excusing what the McMichaels did, just imagine the scenario where you see one of your own family members struggle with a suspect over a shotgun. How would you react?

Was it ever? For every Winston Churchill, there's a Neville Chamberlain. Germany elected an irate, sick second-rate WWI veteran to lead them to alleged glory in 1933. Thanks to the media and the internet, we now have more access to pretty much everything that reporters can get their hands on. No matter how relevant. Imagine the field day we could've had with George Walker Bush before 2004.

AOC wouldn't be able to run for president NOW, of course. I'm pretty sure she'll be able to stick around long enough in order to come up as a name dropped starting in - let's say - 2032. She isn't the brightest, the Green New Deal still lingers, and she's being pushed by a whole group of people to advance their agenda left of the Democrats. Remember that she was chosen to run against Crowley in what you could describe as an audition. She is responsible for her precinct and most of the constituents don't agree with her democrat socialist mindset, based on an April 2019 poll: https://www.businessinsider.com/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-voters-like-policies-not-socialism-2019-4?r=US&IR=T And with regards to the handling of Covid-19 in her precinct: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/04/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-congress-coronavirus-interim-relief-bill Feel free to weigh in with some actual insights, instead of quasi ad-hominem attacks. Much appreciated. For example, we could debate Cabrera's argument against AOC - her not advancing any bill, not bringing in any money since she went Washington: https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/10/fernando-cabrera-social-conservative-democrat-challenges-alexandria-ocasio-cortez/

With those upper thighs, she'd crush your skull like a watermelon. I assume you have seen the Williams twins on TV before? The thing about pro model pics is that you can easily make people look more beautiful than they really are, thanks to make-up, perspective, pose, lighting and choice of wardrobe.

Well, that's pretty grim. There's self-defense, and then there's idiots thinking they are above the law. No way did this warrant the use of firearms, unless they were being shot at first (which they weren't based on the unedited video I could find). Although Arbury was allegedly shot at because of the struggle over the one guy's shotgun. I suppose a taser would be the more appropriate choice then? The two dimwits up front (plus the guy who was in it, filming it all) belong to prison. However, one has to ask oneself why this story has only made it to the front of the news now? The incident took place about two months ago. Cui bono?

What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?

I thought about getting SOR4 as another option for a four-player opportunity with mates of mine. Does it work well? Game looks so nicely retro with those hand-drawn animations. I haven't play side scrollers since the Contra, Donkey Kong, Super Mario, TMHT and DD days. -
Ok, so she turned 30 half a year ago. Still has the mindset, argumentation and ideas of a 16-year old. Besides, it's not her ideas, it's the ideas of the people who have pushed her to the forefront, as discussed a while ago. Also, she'd actually have to clean up her own closet in her Covid-19-riddled precinct first, and her voters are fed up with her. Curious to find out how she fares comes June and whether she'll be able to keep her local seat. As for the Dems' vice president candidates, some of them I've heard of before, such as Yang (yikes), Warren (please no), Buttigieg, Castro, Harris, Klobuchar or Booker (eurgh), most of them not. And what warrants a place for Michelle Obama? Ludicrous. How much do you know about the 28 and which one would you favour? From the outside, it reeks of forced diversification and gender before ability.

Four more episodes to come. Can't wait. Very well-made, brings back memories.

Look at this list and tell me which Democrat candidate you find most apt at potentially leading the US starting after the election: https://ballotpedia.org/Vice_presidential_candidates,_2020 There's a whopping 20 women out of 28 candidates, and apart from a few names. I've never heard of them at all. The track record reads rather poorly for most of these 28.

There's a term limit in place. What makes you think he'd either walk off the stage loudly, cause a havoc or usurp all power and reign as a dictator until the end of his days?

That's what you get for having a two-party system, basically an oligopoly. Given the fact that Americans favour individualism and choice so much, their political progress on a larger scale is still so backwards. Where's a viable third party or even a five-party system, so you have to win majorities across the political borders to make progress? The US political caste, Democrats and Republicans alike, will never vote for a 20-something former bartender as a president. They do have still some sense, if only little. There's hope that we'll be blessed with a more engaging, competent and youthful president than Trump once 2024 comes to an end. Not that I'm saying Trump isn't competent or engaging. But the US can do and should do better. Otherwise, it'll turn into a pre-stage of Idiocracy.
-
Ok, so what policies has Biden to show for exactly? Apart from groping, that is. Also remember, we're talking US politics here. Entertainment and outrage is already built in, TV demands it.
-
The Democrat establishment will never give the nomination to a (former) Communist sympathizer. In that regard, they're still re-enacting the 60ies. Progressive my arse. The sooner left-leaning politicians and friends over here realize the Democrats have as much in common with them, as do the Chinese with the Taiwanese, the better.

I think it became to show-offy, too much bling-bling and gangster after Jordan's second and final retirement. I continued to follow the Raptors through the years, but to me, the league and the game lost their appeal as the years went by. Also, the type of basketball back then was much more intriguing and less polished. Conferences seemed more balanced, most teams were able to beat each other. You had much more characters in the game, players could take a hit, rules were different. To me, it seemed to be much more exciting than what it is today. Imagine dirty teams like the Detroit Pistons back in the day competing in today's environment. Unthinkable.

70% of Naughty Dog's developing team have left after Uncharted 4. Hence the delay. https://kotaku.com/as-naughty-dog-crunches-on-the-last-of-us-ii-developer-1842289962 There seems to be an issue with the company's work ethos (loads of overtime, burnouts). There's also fans angry about what they perceive to be a woke message in TLOU II. A massive amount of spoilers have leaked recently by an allegedly pissed off former Naughty Dog employee who didn't get paid. https://www.newsweek.com/last-us-part-2-spoilers-footage-cutscenes-leaked-social-media-ps4-1500346

Instead of opting for RE7, I am now continuing playing Red Dead Redemption 2. I started quite a while ago, but dropped the title after a short while. Definitely forces you to accept the fact that everything moves way slower - just the way it was back in the day. You could say it's a bit of a shame that there is no fast travel option. But maybe one appreciates the beauty and splendor of the vistas more this way. Only downside to me are the controls - still. They are either overly sensitive or clunky. And I feel almost overwhelmed with the amount of different functions for each button, maybe it's a bit too much here. It's definitely mightily realistic, yet feels slightly overcomplicated. -
The amount of times they officially announce server maintenance, well I can count it on one hand. 30 minutes should compensate for an eternity of crap online connections? Just as you think EA couldn't be more clown.
