  1. If you have to include that bs justification paragraph you already plainly know that this is a piss take and just don't care. Lob in a bit of mitigation like it's some achievement when actually I'd quite like us to be 20th most expensive in the Premier League and give a fvck about fans. Just an aside for this. We've seen a couple of feeble attempts in here, but are there any KPFC defenders out on social media/anywhere justifying this or siding with the club?
  2. More than likely said this in this thread before but Beggars Lane is terrible for this. People creeping down it at 30, braking at the very sight of another car on the opposite side of the road. It's barmy. Two special mentions for this thread - first to the van man who keeps driving down the pavement on Tay Rd in New Lubbesthorpe when I'm doing my morning run, in an attempt to avoid the humps. At least he gets back on the road when he sees me. Also to the very special people who, when parking in my not-very-busy work car park, decide to spend time reversing into a space when you can just drive through so you're facing outwards. Baffles me daily.
  3. Lol. Love this fail. Clearly didn't read the article or even try to engage with it. Almost like I'm reading the LM comments section
  4. I'm really struggling to care about who our next manager will be. Just like a player purchase, I have literally no control who it'll be and fan influence won't change the mind of those in charge. I'm interested to see how it develops and how long it takes, but the mass debate taking place about the options I just find it very hard to care about. Round and round in circles on the same 4-5 names, waiting for the slightest "insider" news or change in odds. I just can't get into it and not sure if I'm just being grumpy
  5. I know this makes me seem like an old, old man, but the descent of Sky Sports News is genuinely quite sad. Was a titan until about five years ago. I get it, I get why. Just makes me sad.
  6. I think the main issue is that so far we've only seen people voting Tory being eternally obsessed with Labour, rather than eloquent reasons about their policies or why they deserve another five years at the wheel. If a Tory can set out their reasons why they're voting for them without some attack on the opposition then whilst it'd be challenged I'd hope people would respect it. Blaming the party that hasn't been in power, or casting doubt on them seems to be the MO. It's like Labour need to prove why they should take over as if it's been 14 years of perfection. Four more weeks of this, too. Tiresome. Bring on the exit poll on 04 July to signal the true end to this campaign.
  7. Liverpool is a terrible comparison though because they deliberately took a lower £30m to gain a higher royalty % of each shirt sold. They actually earn around £100m from the deal, apparently, when you factor in their royalty payment. It's also worth noting that Newcastle are also moving to with Adidas in a deal worth a reported £30m, but could be around 17m depending on their performance based on what's been reported. Villa is a huge upgrade but it's not as fishy as you're desperate to make it out to be, tbh.
  8. Another reluctant purchaser. Been battling with the principle of it for weeks but I want a physical card, it's as simple as that tbh.
  9. I just find it incredible that the conservative party, the one of small government, wants to tell adults how they must spend their time aged 18-19. It's just amazing. Then again this is also targeted at the voters who hate any type of government interference unless it "benefits" them. I know every generation does it, but the way people go on you'd think that all young people were prim, proper and impeccably behaved up until 2003 or something. We all know that's just not the case. Just like the culture war nonsense, this is a policy that solves absolutely fvcking nothing. This country needs change and so much reform for essential services and functions and yet we're talking about making 18 year olds work with old people for a year cos it'll make them better people? Piss off.
  10. Confirmation that Sunak is desperate to lose this election by saying he'll bring back national service, as he prioritises the thought and wishes of old white men and women who, of course, never did national service and would never have to do it themselves. Absolutely incredible that he's so desperate to crack the Reform UK vote so help candidates in marginal seats where the vote might be split. Would be very interested to know how he'll fund the army in enforcing this, and if there are enough prison places for non compliance.
  11. What's the beef with NWL council?!?! Seems very targeted but also quite vague
  12. I'm not here to derail the thread tbh with stuff like this so your whataboutery is actually quite unwelcome. I'm just saying that if a club appointed Robbie Keane this summer they would face a lot of criticism from pro-Palestinian people, and a he would be asked a lot of questions on what he things or why he stayed in Israel etc. Would probably be a "weather the storm" type of thing, but it'd happen.
  13. We wouldn't go for him so doesn't matter, but I wouldn't enjoy the narrative if he joined from an Israeli club. I've already heard a few things on podcasts not very complimentary about the fact he's there. It'd pick up hugely if an English club employed him.
  14. Here's the whole thing: https://mega.nz/file/7oUEzQSS#zV30k_b3NVvgi-hCmGJrymbkLvFtrd0iymJwzrpfPB8 This was my peak saddo years of keeping an LCFC archive so there's hundreds of hours of stuff from 15/16 stuffed away in numerous folders. Enjoy it.
  15. This is basically it. The best example I can think of certainly in this country is Watford's Deeney moment. Spilling onto the pitch in that moment, at that time was such a spontaneous outpouring of joy. Anything else just feels like doing it for doing it sake, and that includes the Doncaster one we did in 2014. It's going on because loads of others will, get your social videos, give someone a video call and away you go, really. It's not even that I find pitch invasions so detestable, it's just that we can all accurately sterotype the kind of people who are gagging for them. Plus those who are desperate for a souvenir from one of their players, or desperate to goad/wind up one of the opposition.
  16. That's not in the laws though. The law is that any part of the scoring body is ahead it's offside. We can't start picking and choosing based on "common sense" because the law doesn't allow for it and there are enough tin foil cries of corruption in football as there is. Tbh I don't disagree that something like that is ridiculous, but they're working in the parameters of what the laws are. Referees don't make the laws, they enforce them. VAR is showing what happened but like someone above said, these people are not robots. You can train them to within an inch of their life and I bet of the 20 refs some decisions wouldn't be unanimous, even with VAR for help. I know I'm going on like a bore but for me the problem isn't VAR or even the people using VAR, it's the wider football community which DEMANDS perfection, it DEMANDS every decision to be right and talked itself into thinking technology (goal line tech aside) would resolve everything and make arguments go away. It won't. It never will. In fact the media would hate it if it did because it'd kill debate. Whilst I'm a one-track snorefest on defending referees I know there will be debate and criticism as long as football exists, so let's just... have it and sack off VAR? VAR hasn't stopped accusations of cheating, it hasn't helped stop arguments and debate and cleared up issues that were opaque before. In fact in some instances it's done the opposite. Plus it's driven people away because of the horrendous delays.
  17. As ever with sackings that look weird on the face of it, headed over to the Norwich forum and none of them are particularly surprised or sad by it. Few actively wanted it.
  18. VAR refereeing subjective decisions was always going to lead to this mayhem. Look at debates post controversial VAR calls. Aside from the partisan nonsense there are genuine disagreements because there are so many subjective decisions made in football matches based on the laws of the game. Get rid of it by all means but proponents of scrapping VAR must accept that referees will make subjective decisions that you disagree with. They will also make mistakes. They are human. Players earning £10m a year make mistakes, so why do we expect referees and linesmen not to? Referees cannot, have never been and never will be perfect. Obviously the above is horseshit and no-one will do that, we've got our fair share of tin foil conspirators on here about VAR/referees (as do all clubs). I hate that it's use is so inconsistent in that for the whole EFL season it's not used but in the playoff final it is. I hate that in the FA Cup it's used when it can be but other games in the same round can be decided without VAR intervention. I hate that if we scrapped it it'd still be used in the UEFA/FIFA tournaments. People talk about "it's the people not the technology" but that, to me, makes no difference at all. The people will ALWAYS be the source of controversy because they're fvcking people, not robots, and football laws are not all binary like offside (and even that's a shitshow). There's also not a large pool of people to choose from. You need people who have the fitness level, the aptitude to learn and know the rules, the mental strength to do the job in front of thousands in a stadium and millions on TV and to take the almost intolerable levels of abuse that comes with the job. And even if you have VAR specialists who don't need that, you're still, until the end of time, going to get decisions that won't be liked.
  19. Shining example was the train station. You can think it's a bit of a waste of money but to start painting it as a "vanity project" and waste of money when it was entirely funded by the DLUHC is lack of research bordering on wilful ignorance. Short of SPS turning the clock back to a city centre from circa 1995 for some of these people I'm not sure anything could be okay for them. You know what, though, if nothing else these people give me a burning desire to be NOTHING like that kind of moaning idiot when I'm older.
  20. I genuinely do wonder what the anti-SPS brigade will do when he's left office, when there's no-one left to blame for everything they don't like. Will they just move onto the next person and treat them with the same unhinged contempt? John in Stoney Stanton, Margaret who emigrated to Benidorm in 1997, Janice who now lives in Cornwall or Ken who hasn't visited the city centre since 2016 love to have their say in the Merc or FB comments section as if they have a keyword setup for his name, and it is as baffling as it is tiring, really.
  21. Boxing people, as a massive casual who is interested in this but is not at all a night owl, is this worth making special effort to stay up for and watch? Pls advise as experts.
  22. You can tell those who would be sticking Saudi flags in their social media bios if PIF had taken us over instead of Newcastle, can't you?
  23. Tbh they were never the same after VSI days. Carlton's efforts were terrible (their last, 02/03, was probably the best), and by the time we got to the PDI era it was terribly dubbed commentary and awful generic music. As mentioned in the thread the club-run versions were similarly guff, capped off by having absolutely zero context to the title race. It's why I ended up being a saddo and producing my own reviews until last season.
  24. Has he just cut and paste his usual set to a football crowd stood around waiting and begging for some energy? No thought seems to have gone into his track list at all. It's baffling.
  25. Don't ever dare go into the Leicester Mercury comments section and say that. You'll be strung up
