Secretly the injuries Ndidi, Maddison, Soyuncu et al. get are ploys by King Rodgers to detract other clubs from pinching his favourite lads.

SK Slavia Prague (A) - Pre Match Thread.
ScrumpyJack replied to Ian Nacho's topic in Leicester City Forum
Slavia Prague are unbeaten in the Czech league this season, and have a team of failed Football Manager wonderkids. 3-1, #RodgersOut. -
I think it's good-natured piss-taking, like seeing your only child in the garden eating worms; you love the little bastard but why does he do these things?

Bit of a left-fielded suggestion, but Yussuf Poulsen could be a good fit for Leicester. Have been doing a bit of reading on him. He's 6'4, quick and presses high-up the pitch. Doesn't have the best goal return, but he made Timo Werner look like a good striker. Could be a good option to bring the likes of Barnes, Perez and Maddison into attacking moves, and be able to contribute to some improvement with set-pieces.

Doesn't disappointing mean when you are expecting something decent and get tosh in return? Waghorn, Solano and Konchesky all fit the dictionary definition perfectly. I'd agree Upson and Lingard were not disappointing. Upson was a squad player, Lingard was a young loan signing. Very little in terms of expectation, therefore little room for disappointment.
-
So they were disappointing. First two were big names which they didn't live up to. With Konchesky's pedigree and apparent wages, he should have been a bigger influence in games but was not strong defensively and often punted ridiculous shots, or offered crap crosses. Solano did nothing at Leicester, he was firmly in his twilight but still provided little. He was more lorry doing a three-point turn than football player. Waghorn looked good on loan when he had something to prove, but once he got his transfer he looked nowhere near as good as he showed he could be.

I wrote a little bit on Gray's departure on my blog, it's probably shite but it makes the Lockdown morning pass a bit quicker. Leverkusen will be a tough team to break into, but I wish him all the best with his move. Just didn't develop beyond being 'that pacey winger'.

I think Pereira could be on his way to PSG in the summer. Despite the result yesterday, it was good to see him on the pitch. Every time a Leeds player went in on him I could feel my heart in my throat. I wonder if we'll see JJ, Pereira and Castagne on the same pitch at some point. Can definitely see Castagne operating further up the pitch.

Dunno if many of you keep up with TrueGeordie's The Kick Off, but one of the regulars on there (and a TalkShite reporter) Rory Jennings has shared the coldest hot take.

It's for the best. His stats look brilliant this season, but taking the penalties away he has scored 5 in 20 league matches. Hopefully Perez can step up and make a tangible difference to our play, and Vardy can come back sharper.

He’s just a fat Allardyce, in a suit! He’s just a fat Allardyce, in a suit! He’s just a fat Allardyce, in a suit! Meaty challenge from Mount on his boyfriend’s ex there.

Maddison’s delivery from set pieces has been woeful this season. Definitely some improvement against Newcastle, but the amount of times he goes for a floating corner that goes past the heads of any Leicester (or opposition players for that matter!) is a joke.

Two goals and Barnes is the second coming of the Sheffield Christ?

While I might risk righteous condemnation considering my position as the leader of the Rodgers' PR department, I was not disappointed with yesterday's result at all. Hopefully key players received enough rest that will benefit the squad in the long run. It is massively contrived to consider Crystal Palace as weak. They were a team with a point to prove, and one miserable defeat does not mean that team is written off. Cases in point; Aston Villa are not world beaters, Man City are not a sunday league team, Southampton are not in the championship. But I still think there was enough quality in the team to come away with a result. If Ian Nacho had his shooting boots on, we would have walked away with the 3 points. I don't think Rodgers' is to fault here, rather an unfortunate penalty is. Nice to see Amartey start, positionally he was a bit suspect. But it finally answered the age old question of what would happen if he started at centreback. The answer? Fairly average. Another positive to take from the game, Ian Nacho, Perez and Choudhury despite not performing brilliantly did show hunger. I love seeing a player looking pissed off at being substituted, it shows that they want to play.

Big lol. I think old Keys' is having a senior moment, probably been on the Bell's.

The pundits and journalists favourite trope at the moment of "Vardy's showing no signs of slowing down" is really starting to grind my gears, even ol' Barry Glendenning is giving the line a go. He's a great player, and is a living Leicester legend without a doubt. But I don't think we have seen Vardy at his most consistent. I am not going to take the lazy route here and attribute this to Leicester receiving more penalties. Fob that nonsense, just had a look at the stats. The man really is showing no signs of showing down. Ooh JAMIE VARDY'S MAGIC, HE WEARS A MAGIC HAT

Why would he want to settle for mid-table obscurity?

WIll definitely watch that tonight, great share. The Marshall 300 drum chant was brilliant. Heard a few stories at the time that he was very friendly and affable to the youngsters in Narbs. He was a decent little player, until he wasn't. Update: he is an absolute bellwipe.

How many players do we need to be title contenders?
ScrumpyJack replied to les-tah's topic in Leicester City Forum
I genuinely believe this Leicester squad is stronger than the 15/16 team. I am definitely not on my own in thinking that. In response to the thread, we could certainly benefit from two additional players (or rather two players in exchange for Slimani and Amartey.) A more mature and consistently fit centre back with Premier League experience, and a more prolific second fiddle to Vardy. Tarkowski would be a welcome addition. Not sure who to suggest up-top striker-wise as good forwards are gold dust these days. Maybe Callum Wilson if he were available? @Ric Flair was keen on that Thauvin chap awhile ago. I disagreed with him at the time, but he would definitely provide a more direct goal threat if he could replicate his Ligue 1 form. -
I know what you're hinting at, and I won't do it. I know I did it for Kante and it worked, but those days are behind me.

Not loving his Bamba-esque runs up the pitch in the last few matches.

Success at Celtic and promotion with Swansea is far more than Poch achieved. I will not say the Argentine is a bad manager - because that isn't true - but he underachieved at Tottenham. Arguably Rodgers and Poch are evenly matched with both reaching a second-place finish. On a purely quantifiable level Rodgers' has 7 managerial honours to Poch's 0. Additionally, Poch's reign at Spurs coincided with Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea having periods of serious rebuilding following the retirement of iconic managers, players and the change in the Premier League's tactical trends. The anti-Rodgers mob being in full-force following a top six finish last season, and holding fourth currently this season is ridiculous. Given the injuries, and I would argue the lack of form from Vardy in recent league matches, we are doing okay. From open play ol' Hedgehog has scored 3 times, as Fulham's Danish defender showed yesterday (completely forgotten his name, probably Andersen?!) there is a degree of the opposition wisening up to some of Vardy's new tricks. Without Vardy, we do not have an outstanding attacking talent in the mould of Mahrez, Kane or Son. Also, we don't have tremendous depth available, or an unlimited budget. Rodgers is building something. The football we are playing currently is epochs beyond Puel, Pearson and Shaking Shakespeare. We are not the perennial underdogs anymore. I cannot see Pochettino doing anything more with this Leicester team than Rodgers. If he could not win anything with a Tottenham team boasting Eriksen, Kane, Son, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Lloris and in-form Alli, Walker and Dier, what could he achieve with our present Leicester team? On paper, I genuinely believe we have a fantastic squad available to us, but it is by no means as stacked as that 15-17 Tottenham squad was. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/my-team-selection-was-all-wrong-admits-brendan-rodgers-2xlc5gx5h
