  1. At the current "quoted" price, we may as well close this thread. Unless they are willing to accept a lower price plus Demarai Gray, this is going absolutely nowhere. Bournemouth are doing to us what we just did to Manchester United, simple as that.
  2. You lost me when you said Sky Sports News. ?
  3. Definitely a winger that plays in a similar position to Demarai Gray (who isn't Premier League quality), quickly followed by a replacement for Harry Maguire.
  4. SSN suggesting that Leicester City (quite rightly) will not be held to ransom by the likes of Burnley and Brighton for James Tarkowski and Lewis Dunk respectively. Having a substantially-boosted transfer budget will have its drawbacks and we should be very keen not to pay over the odds. And in my opinion, which often doesn't go down well around here, I don't rate either of these targets, especially at the valuations coming out of both of those clubs who are just protecting their assets or (at the risk of sounding hypocritical) letting them go for a substantial/overpriced transfer fee. SSN also mentioned that LCFC may well just stick with what they have. And in my unpopular opinion, if that's the stance they are taking, I think Top 6 may well be optimistic, as our current set of CBs (Jonny Evans aside) are either unproven at this level (no, I'm not counting Benkovic's accolades from Celtic) or just not up to the standard for a Premier League CB pairing, week-in, week-out. People may not like this and nurse their keyboard egos with a witty remark, but that's my opinion. 6 days is a long time in transfer windows. Look at the Ayoze Perez signing came out of nowhere? Signing a decent replacement for a good, not great, England-international defender should not be as difficult as some make it out to be. Have pulled a blinder with the ~£80m for Harry Maguire, need to finish the job and use that financial nous to find that signing that no-one saw coming, at the right price. Have the utmost faith in our club, that before the season starts, they will make the right decision.
  5. This is literally what has just happened to Manchester United today.
  6. Still should have bit their hands off when they offered £25m for Gray. Be lucky if we would get offered half of that now given his frustratingly inconsistent form. I'd definitely go for a straight Fraser-Gray swap thought.
  7. More like a general discussion thread. Or a brainstorm, or seeing who else in Europe is signing midfielders and the going rate. Certainly bucks the trend when most other threads focus on the transfer news of particular players, whereas a £30-50m winger is a pretty wide scope...
  8. Are we actually linked with any attacking midfielders? This topic just looks like a general football talk session. Someone put me out of my misery. Far as I am aware, I've seen absolutely little. Any possible outgoings such as Ghezzal and Diabate that will create an opening for a signing?
  9. Couldnt help but check out what the ITKs are spilling. In other words, not expecting any more new faces before the start of the season. Does also say that there's a few to leave like Diabate, Silva and Mendy. #neverwrong?
  10. Me too! ?
  11. It's difficult to be excited about a potential signing that is clearly weighing up his options and waiting for the big-name club to stump up the cash. Not expecting this to happen due to apparent interest from other clubs, plus there's no point having a player who doesn't want to really be here. I imagine there will be other targets in the pipeline. There's still two weeks to go.
  12. We already have a winger with the all too rare flashes of brilliance in the frustrating form of Demarai Gray. Not sure what we will really gain here.
  13. Next. Not interested.
  14. Sean has spoken. Close the thread!
  15. To think that all football fans up and down the country watched this match, and watched that miss. Who will want him after that? No-one, including us.
  16. Not awarded any more than an 8, no less than a 6. We were as good as Arsenal were poor, although was tempted to dish out a 9.
  17. Considering they scraped past Burnley and we've just hammered Arsenal (with and without the one-man advantage), this game will be decided by one goal. Suspect this will go Manchester City's way, so it's a 2-1 to the Citizens. And an end to the title race as we know it.
  18. Think there was already a negative stigma surrounding Puel from his time at Southampton, and he was never going to change his approach, that's not his style to bow the whims of the core of the squad and 32,000 fans baying from the stands. Always felt like a when rather than if, regarding his departure, and never felt like a long term appointment. That being said. He did the dirty work behind the scenes, and was an absolute credit to the club during the aftermath of the helicopter crash, he will have my respect for that alone. The young talent he had nurtured during his brief tenure are down to him and we should be thankful. Never warmed to him myself, but never booed. Nothing to gain from it. His style just doesn't suit English football, whereas another's might. Wish him all the best, as despite all the toxicity that surrounded the club in his last days at the club, he has helped build the the foundations for what's to come. Something we should all be thankful for. Thank you Claude. Now Brendan Rodgers, over to you sir.
  19. Don't we just love a down-to-the-wire relegation battle? We have one now after that!
  20. Spurs: Could be able to lose some of their big stars like Christian Eriksen after potentially another failure in collecting any sort of silverware. Those players of such quality can only go so long without anything to show for their individual efforts. Chelsea: Transfer bans, managerial revolving-door policy, persistent rumours about some of their key players being targeted. Could be some testing times ahead at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United: May just well be coming out of a little dodgy patch of their own after the departure of José Mourinho. OGS seems to have steadied the ship but long term success is still far from certain. Arsenal: One of those that are unplayable on their day, but those days are few and far apart. Just never know which team is going to show up. They were seriously stagnating under Wenger and maybe this is the season where things gradually turn around, with next season being watching under a microscope. Liverpool and Manchester City are obviously out of the question. But if I had to pick one, I would pick Chelsea, it's not like they can improve their squad this season. A wounded beast so to speak.
  21. It's when the pressure is on, that's when he crumbles. Made to look invincible over past few games but last night exposed his frailties once more, such as on the ball control and overall composure, and that frustrating ability to shoot the ball into Row Z.
  22. Don't worry, I don't get it either. The average results in the poll are about right. Taking nothing away from the cross and header quality for their goal, mind you. We could learn from that.
  23. When Demarai Gray is frightful, And Knockaert is so delightful, And since we've got cash to blow, Make it so, make it so, make it so.
  24. I should try that. There is a clear majority here that think he has had more than a fair shot to show some consistency and actual improvement. We have seen neither of those things in the past couple of years. If we get an offer for him in the summer, we should take him and thank him for his time. I would say thank him for his efforts but come on, let's be realistic.
  25. Certainly did himself no harm but not featuring tonight. Was watching Maguire very closely and he may have been rusty after a couple of games out, but was not convinced at all by his performance. Caglar should be given more opportunities before the season is out. That is the only way we will see what this lad is truly made of. The race for seventh took a substantial hit tonight so it's not like it's make or break. Give him a chance Brendan, you have nothing to lose apart from a little bit of pride.
