In the (unlikely) event of...

Seen it happen in the French Leagues a few times 'team needing a draw to survice vs team needing a draw for europa league' was something like that, went 1 - 0 then 1 - 1

By halftime it was evident the teams didn't bother, and the final few minutes passed it around at the back without a care in the world - win win situation.

It wont happen for us, but if the opportunity arises, i'm sure we'd both do it.

Why are we 19th with better GD than QPR?

Anyway irrelevant banter, we will survive and get 35 points

Sunderland Burnley and Dull to go down. But I hope QPR go instead of Burnley

Does that not count as some kind of match-fixing? Obviously difficult to prove but I'd rather we go down fighting than stay-up looking like a bunch of nobheads.

No, i dont think this will happen, and i wouldnt want it to happen.

It would be a form of match fixing, and you are in essence messing with peoples careers and lives.

Play the game honestly.

It's only match fixing if both teams have agreed to play out a draw. Playing conservatively is not against the rules and if you think that will help you achieve your goals then that's how you ought to play.

Hypothetical situation: Last 20mins, it's evident that both sets of players are happy to take the draw, and not really attack the opposition. There's obviously been no agreement however the draw is being played out. You win a freekick 20 yards out, with a minute to go. We're obliged to have a shot at goal, after seeing QPR refrain from breaking on us, and not necessarily being as direct going forward as they might be on another day, would anyone feel bad? I personally would love to push Barton to the edge and him to go mental. Then watch as Was has to 'deal' with him!

Go for the draw right to the end then catch em out in the final seconds by getting knockaert to dive and win a penalty. Dastardly or what....

we all know what happened last time.

Could get pretty ugly if it went to a last minute goal from either side to send the other down. Y'all saw what QPR folks are like against Chelsea last weekend, imagine them after we send them down - or, god forbid, vice versa. There'd be a pitch invasion if we did it which'd only escalate matters.

Mind you, the seats at Filbert Way do need replacing, and Loftus tears are delicious (and something we've sadly seen very little of in the past two seasons)...

what could possibly go wrong with that plan....

Yeah the same thing happened with Huddersfield and Barnsley, drawing 2-2 with 10 minutes to go, both teams safe as it stood, so they played it out, the players sat down haha.

I hope we don't get put through it though!

If we both require a draw irrespective of the results around us I'd put a lot of money on 0-0.

I.e. we are both 3 points above the relegation zone with 1 game to play.

I seem to recall this happening in one of the lower leagues a few seasons ago, not sure who was playing.

It all went pear shaped for one of the teams in the dying seconds, you should play to win.

I remember something similar, was it Barnsley v ?? Last game and a draw would make both teams safe, and there goalie had it and not one player went to tackle him??? God knows something like that lol

Yep that was Huddersfield vs Barnsley a few years ago. There's a great youtube video of it with both sets of fans singing "we are staying up" (I'd still much rather relegate QPR though).
