I was able to watch the Championship when I was in Baltimore. If it comes to it, I'll dig out the details for you. It was a new Sports Channel from the Emirates if I remember correctly.

Perfect, thanks!

I love the place and most people I know around my age don't have a bad word to say about it apart from the limited nightlife opportunities in comparison to bigger cities.

Loads of tourist things to do - Minster, Clifford's Tower, Castle Museum, National Railway Musuem, York Museum gardens and the town centre is really nice. Most locals are really friendly. The river is fantastic to chill by in the summer and have a BBQ, as well as eating/drinking at the restaurants/bars next to the river in town.

Enjoy going to watch York City - massive shame they have to move to a bowl stadium in a year or two.

You can't go into the city centre without bumping into somebody you know. This can be good and bad!

Still haven't been to a place in the UK that has matched it.

Oh and it should have been the rightful burial place of Richard III  :P

How much would that cost me? I want to live in it or turn it into a techno nightclub.

Great post btw.

From Tugby, a small village in east Leicester, which no body knows exists, and is surrounded by farms.

We have some lovely countryside in Leicestershire. My wife thinks I am 'country'.

Amongst others I've lived in King's Lynn (dull), Cambridge (good pubs, windy), Palermo (dusty), Sofia (good pubs, potholes) and briefly Istanbul (seagulls)

What took you to all those places? Love Istanbul btw.

I'd put the value between tens and hundreds of millions of US Dollars. It's owned by the Billionaire who owns the ambassador bridge (that connects Detroit and Windsor Canada). Yes... A private individual owns a international border.

He's been slowly fixing it up over the years. They've installed new windows, got the electricity back on, and are installing a freight elevator so that they can fix the roof. I have no idea what he plans on doing with it, but it is quite the sight to behold. You can see the train station off of Michigan Ave. It's probably a 1/4 mile off of the road, and it is huge. Sitting there, all alone, unused. Some people have broken in to take pictures, take a look (1st link exterior) (2nd link interior):

They estimated the cost to renovate it at 80 to 300 million USD. So i'd say conservatively for a half billion you could buy it, renovate it and turn it into the coolest nightclub in the worst part of Detroit  lol

It reminds me a lot of that monstrosity in Bucharest, the Palace of Parliament I think it's called. Definitely worth a google.

At that price, I think I may have to leave it..

I'm glad someone is doing something with that building. It looks awesome.

Wow, very similiar indeed.

I think it's crazy the geographic distribution of the people on this site: Australia, Africa, America, etc.

So what's Leicester like? I assume 99% of the people have been/lived there at some point.

Wow you made that thread 10 years ago. Have you opinions changed?

Not a lot, whilst some areas have improved others have gone downhill and there still knocking down quality building and replacing them with bland grey, mostly student accommodation.

I rarely go into the City these days.

Tavistock road up in the North.

Used to go to the Castle a lot, also an Everards pub across the road next to a curry house, cant remember name. Cambridge Blue was a good one though always found the people a bit cold. Salisbury Arms was good too.
