weller54 Posted 6 May 2015 Posted 6 May 2015 RunIn050515.png I'm getting quite addicted to checking out the Run Ins, still think it's going to be close and we'll have a better idea after this weekend, but I think we'll be fine. Not sure why the BBC didn't include Newcastle in the above graphic, I think they've got a huge chance of going down. And Villa!!?
davieG Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Newcastle injuries: Club announce two more players have had scans Siem de Jong has had a scan on his thigh and Paul Dummett has also been sent for one after picking up a knock/reaction when thrown in at Leicester. Siem de Jong Newcastle United 25 mins ago by Graham Porter Share On the Newcastle injuries front, the club have announced that two more players have had to be sent for scans. Siem de Jong has had a scan on his thigh, whilst Paul Dummett has also been sent for one after picking up a knock/reaction when thrown in at the deep end at Leicester without a single warm-up reserve match. With many fans hoping one or more of the injured players might come back and help drag the club away from a relegation catastrophe, the reality surely must be that with only 17 days until the end of the season any of our long-term injured must be protected from further long-term damage. However, that didn’t prevent John Carver at his pre-West Brom press conference trying to put a positive spin on the situation, the Newcastle Head Coach speaking positively about Rolando Aarons and Papiss Cisse potentially being involved very shortly. Remember that with only 17 days of the season to go, this is Rolando Aarons who this week played his first 45 minutes of football in six months for the reserves and looked way off the pace. Whilst in Papiss Cisse’s case, he hasn’t played for two months and after having a knee operation during his suspension, Carver revealed that today was the first time he’d been able to join back in with training. - See more at: http://www.themag.co.uk/2015/05/newcastle-injuries-club-announce-two-more-players-have-had-scans/?#sthash.Nbcsj5cq.dpuf
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Yeah I think it will take two wins. Doing that would mean we've won 7 out of 9... which is bonkers. I agree it would be completely bonkers
davieG Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 In A Do Or Die Saturday And Newcastle Could Die 1:55 pm, Thursday, May 7th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 39 Comments We just cannot see how Newcastle can get anything out of the game with West Brom on Saturday, given the pathetic performance of our defense at Leicester City, when we allowed all three goals from set-plays – and we will have three of those back four missing on Saturday, due in large part to Mike Williamson and Daryl Janmaat getting themselves sent off in the second half. When West Brom get their first corner or free kick near the Newcastle penalty on Saturday, the tension will rise appreciably with the Newcastle fans. And the fact we’ve had so many suspensions of our players this year is a hint the players are not playing for Carver – some seem just to have given up. john carver last night John Carver – out of his depth – completely We should hear more today at Carver’s press conference about the fitness of Paul Dummett, and even if he’s not fit maybe we will still play him and hope for the best – and take another chance? It only takes a relegation fighting side to win a game, to bring them right up to Newcastle and last Saturday Sunderland, Leicester and Aston Villa all gained 3 points on Newcastle by winning their games and Leicester have gained a massive fifteen points on Newcastle in the last six games – by winning five of them. We suggested we could be in big trouble last Saturday is we lost and Sunderland and Villa both win – which they did. Here are the fixtures on Saturday. Everton vs Sunderland 12:45 pm Aston Villa vs West Ham 3:00 pm Hull vs Burnley 3:00 pm Leicester vs Southampton 3:00 pm Newcastle vs West Brom 3:00 pm You wouldn’t expect Sunderland to get anything at Everton but we didn’t expect them to get anything at home to the Saints either – and they do have an experienced manager in Dick Advocaat in charge – and he’s been through this stuff before. And Leicester – in the form they are in right now have a decent chance now of beating Southampton, who are now slumping a bit, and the Foxes could make it six wins in their last seven games for what would amount to a miraculous recovery. Hull have a great chance to get their third win in four games by beating Burnley at home – and Burnley are essentially relegated and will be if they don’t beat Hull. Here are the current standings. Pos Team Games GD Points 12 West Brom 35 -14 40 13 Aston Villa 35 -21 35 15 Newcastle 35 -24 35 16 Leicester 35 -15 34 17 Hull 35 -15 34 18 Sunderland 34 -22 33 19 QPR 35 -22 27 20 Burnley 35 -27 26 So if Newcastle do lose for the 9th straight game it’s going to be very very difficult to turn this thing around with just two games to go – the only chance is that Mike Ashley starts spending some money to persuade a guy like Glenn Hoddle to come in and try to get a win in our final two games. The fact that all our fans will not be behind the team in the final two home games, will also make it that much more difficult to get a win. The only chance we have is if the team shock us in one of the last three games and get a win – somehow – maybe the other side scores a couple of own goals for us? The only way they have shocked us in the last eight games is just how terrible they have played and a number of them don’t seem to care at all. All they seem to be thinking of is how to get out of this club in the summer. That’s how bad it is at Newcastle United right now.
Gerard Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 RunIn050515.png I'm getting quite addicted to checking out the Run Ins, still think it's going to be close and we'll have a better idea after this weekend, but I think we'll be fine. Not sure why the BBC didn't include Newcastle in the above graphic, I think they've got a huge chance of going down. I don't need to check the run in's. I'm that sad I know all our relegation rivals off by heart. Hull will definitely beat Spurs at WHL. No they won't definitely win, terrible post.
Webbo Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Doesn't matter what Newcastle do, we've still got to get a result against Soton.
Mayofox Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Everton can do us a real favour by beating Sunderland in the early match. After us, Sunderland are away at Arsenal & Chelsea, and it's hard to imagine them avoiding defeat in either game. Also their GD will suffer.
Gerard Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 I'd be happy enough to see Sunderland get a draw at Everton before we play. That means even if we lose to Southampton we'll still be above Sunderland going into our match. If we beat Southampton then we can go to Sunderland, get beat and still be above them going into the last week of the season.
TJB-fox Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Think saturdays game could be the one if Sunderland lose, but I think they'll somehow sneak a win and we'll lose 1-2
weller54 Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Think saturdays game could be the one if Sunderland lose, but I think they'll somehow sneak a win and we'll lose 1-2 O joy... Who's this E.Milliband??
fuchsntf Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Hull will definitely beat Spurs at WHL. This game, is the actual game I fear myself. At the moment, I see Sunderland using their game in hand, and they can also afford to draw with us.. The only safe option for city is 9pts. 3 games left, forget all permatations. forget the ifs and whens of other teams. No matter how Pearson and his team have brilliantly performed over the last few weeks, it stays 9 points... harsh ...but thats the reality of it, unless this saturday our opposition...!! ??
shailen Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Have a feeling Villa will mess things up. Some of their players will have eyes on the cup final despite their fixtures being easy on paper.
kingcarr21 Posted 8 May 2015 Posted 8 May 2015 Hull have lost Diame for the rest of the season. Can only be good news for us
Nod.E Posted 26 May 2015 Posted 26 May 2015 Southampton W Sunderland D QPR W Leicester 41 -11 Hull 38 -14 Newcastle 35 -29 ------------------------ Sunderland 34 -27 QPR 30 -25 Burnley 27 -30 Interestingly if we manage a win against Sunderland I have us down as finishing 13th. Imagine Not bad!
