Rincewind Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 I think one of the factors to the change is the team spirit. There has been no hung heads complaining or blaming other players or manager or manager having a go at players.(well not naming them) unlike a certain manager of a team City played recently. Peason has believed in the team and visa versa. This is the main reason why I think it would be a mistake to sack him. There is no guarentee that the spirit would still be there under another manager or new players would fit in Pearson seems to know which players would fit. Similar to MON did May be why certain players have not played as much He may think they are not showing the right attitud regardless of what he thinks of their ability.
Danno Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Also, if Man Utd don`t need anything on the final day at Hull, i can`t see them being to keen to relegate a team managed by one of their former heroes!I doubt a single United player is one bit arsed about a man who looks like an old lady who works in greggs being relegated.
The Blur Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 This picture speak volumes about Matty James and the bond between players and fans. Speedy recovery Matty!
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 he atmosphere down there today was unreal. For the first 5 minutes it was like a stadium gig when the headline play their best and biggest tune if a gig or song could ever be that good.
Dan Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Comfortable again. Our pressing game is something we need to take into next season because it's getting us punching well above our weight. Build our team around this formation. It clearly works. At 2-0 it was fairly straight forward. I thought we defended terrifically (4 clean sheets in 5 games), Morgan's playing like he did in August, Wasilewski's solid as hell and Huth is the best defender since the MON days for me. Southampton were the polar opposite to us. They have so much of the ball but create next to nothing of note. Toothless and in need of a real spark in the final third. I'm not sold on Pelle. Glad for Mahrez too proving his quality. It's been a while since he's done that. That first goal was excellent. I will be shocked if we drop from here. It needs a horrific swing in results, one that would be even more unbelievable than the last 7 games which has quite literally been title winning form. Simply unbelievable. Anyone who calls Pearson or his teams boring is a pillock. This is a rollercoaster and a half.

EnglishOxide Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Pearson has really got that 3-4-3 working well. It works because of Albrighton, Schluup and Cambiasso holding their positions so well. It was working very well for Liverpool too earlier in the season until teams sussed them out and Rodgers experimented with the wrong players. They played a more possession based game too relying on their centre backs bringing the ball out which I think caused their problems. They sacrificed defensive solidarity. The difference with us is that we rely on the wing backs to carry the ball forward and Cambiasso to pick the forward passes. This leaves our centre backs well positioned a lot of the time and they can snuff out any counter attacks if Albrighton and Schluup are caught out. I love it.
Dan Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Great post. Cheers. You know the most telling thing about today is that at 2-0 with 20 left, I wasn't even fearing them coming back, I was just waiting for us to add even more goals. We are literally playing at that level. 2-0 up with ambitions to extend that against a side who are 7th in the Premier League. I'm totally sold on us now. I think we'll win our last two as well. There's no-one in this league quite like Leicester.

Dan Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Bloody hell, maybe you're young, but I was! I was in the first half. I was saying at half time we're going to need a third, but the longer it went on the more obvious it seemed to me that Southampton are actually quite toothless. We'd got them well sussed and I fancied it more for 3-0 than 2-1. If we go down the sport is broken.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 This result doesn't really do much on selling me this whole progression up the PL thing I was talking about few weeks ago. If you contrast Southampton's first third of the season to the second two thirds they (by their own admission reading that forum) are still a good distance off breaking the top 6 We should survive this season but itll take a monumental effort to nit become another 'also ran' in the PL
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Great result Only just managed to post my delight after leaving for work yesterday at around 4.15pm. Just got home now

Another thing I've noticed is we are not scared to concede a corner if we have to and we deal with them really well now. Morgan is unrecognizable to the player he was a few months back

Morgan is unrecognizable to the player he was a few months back Because of Huth...Morgan clearly feels more comfortable playing alongside a central defender of real quality. Completely understandable.

foxfanazer Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Because of Huth... Morgan clearly feels more comfortable playing alongside a central defender of real quality. Completely understandable. Yeah I'd say so. Morgan is a great defender in his own rights though

We were also managing to get it wide early in the season but seemed to lose the ability with four across the Middle. Changing to five (as many suggested on here) enables us to manage the ball better. Morgan is better with a better player next to him - that's not really a surprise but he has stepped back up after a difficult period which speaks volumes for his character. the thing I noticed since RH came is the determination to just stick the ball in the stands when it's in our defensive third. That applies to all three CB's. No risks. get our shape back and defend rather than a loose clearance upfield surrendering possession whilst we aren't set up properly. if we are prepared to spend some serious money in the summer and break our wage structure to bring some class in then there is no reason to believe we can't have a comfortable season next campaign. It would be dangerous to assume that this squad are capable of holding their own over 38 games. It's notable that our fitness levels carried us through the early period when others were feeling the affect of the World Cup and again late on. We cannot rely on the same formula. if the manager insists on doing the same, I fear he won't be as fortunate come next Xmas to keep his post. All assuming that we manage to find another win and all three below us don't! That would be just terrible after the past month!
Callabinho Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Huth is fabulous, no body seems to want defenders who defend anymore, just ball players and you can see how much more effective you are with a solid no nonsense defender at the back.

Was discussing this last night in the pub. Huth has made a HUGE difference to this team. You're right...he simply defends..you don't see him getting forward or spraying passes around. He doesnt need to. He simply stands, marks, wins headers, wins tackles. His composure has resulted in the others stepping up. With the formation change, Cambiasso has more time on the ball. Morgan looks a different player. Jeff Schlupp looks more composed (yes....he does). This is all founded upon having a solid defence. Compared to earlier in the season, we look so much more solid defensively. This gives time and confidence to the attacking players who KNOW that we will probably be ok if they lose possession. An absolutely INSPIRED signing by Pearson.
st albans fox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Huth's agent must be loving this. Goes from having to negotiate a final contract at Stoke where he will be told what they are prepared to pay him to pretty well naming his price at our club! His missus probably quite chuffed too.
whitlock Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 The assault by Marcin in the second half for his yellow card Hero.
