Jakemoore Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 As we all know, Kasper is a cracking keeper and we are very lucky to have him. But, he has always had one major problem, which was his ability to command his area. However, this season he has been so much better at coming out and claiming the ball or punching it clear in a crowd of players. So I was wondering why he is suddenly so much better at this? My guess is the influence of better competition has helped him to improve. Either that or the experience of Schwazer has helped this area of his game. I would now say that he is the complete package and it's great to see. Keep it up Kasper!!

Agree, it was a massive problem before, and any defender will say it's great to have a keeper who commands his area, takes so much pressure off the defenders.Clearly something he's worked on since being injured, or over the summer, but his all round game has vastly improved.
Charl91 Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 I no longer panic (as much) whenever a cross comes into our box.
Captain... Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 It probably also helps having 3 experienced centre halves in front of him.
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Huth appears to be helping. Not maybe visually but perhaps the confidence he's given the whole back line allows Kasper to take a risk or more.
Stadt Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Earlier he came for a punch and he like crowd surfed over 3 players
ithuriel Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Different keeper, cool and calm, perhaps he has been replaced, secretly he is a pod person
CosbehFox Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Apparently his attitude is completely different to how he was a year ago. He was a pain to deal with. Awkward and a moaner. Now, he's sound. A big team player and is friendly to club staff. Schwarzer has helped him with crossing no doubt. Says a lot for Stowell mind.
ealingfox Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 It does appear as if he used his time off whilst injured to study the basics of goalkeeping, which is good. We weren't calling him Count Dracula before his injury for nothing. Performances have been much improved since he returned. Have to hold my hands up, I thought him walking straight back into the side when he recovered would extinguish any remaining hopes we had of staying up at the time, and I was wrong about that. Mind you, the Count before he got injured this season was only marginally worse than Schwarzer.

Definitely agree with this. Huth is so dominant in the air everybody just seems more confident. Got to sign Huth this summer.

Filbert_Ross Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 I'd say it's only been since he's come back from injury and not before that, as the OP stated 'this season' which to me suggests the whole of this season.
Ashley Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Who said that? I can vouch for this. My cousin was in City academy as a keeper and him and Kasper had a big fall out. Basically Kasper only wants to train for himself isn't interested in helping Academy keepers out. He said to my cousin that he had a tough up bringing as a child. How exactly?

His dad is a massive coont who's put him under masses of pressure would be my guess.
David Hankey Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 He has been much more commanding in recent games. What he needs to concentrate on is his distribution which can, on occasions, be wayward.
st albans fox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 He has been much more commanding in recent games. What he needs to concentrate on is his distribution which can, on occasions, be wayward. Mainly because he's trying difficult stuff to get an attack going. Early on he caught a corner and vardy was off like a whippet - soton covered it - they had clearly done their homework. Yes, he came for some looping balls to punch clear but he struggles to impose himself in a melee as he doesn't have the height.
