One Legged Beaver Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Keep Wasyl and Cambiasso. Wouldn't be against keeping Hammond, but at his age he'll probably want to get his final years of first team football.
lee7 Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Same as what others have said for me! Keep cambiasso and Wasileski, maybe Hammond also but the rest should all be moving on (with the exception of Smith who I have never seen play) if we are wanting to improve.
Guest Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 my mistake, Lampard then.... Isn't he playing part-time now?
ImBlue Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Really depends on who we bring in. I hope Was stays next season but if we get Huth and another good CD in then he may wish to go somewhere he'll get more gametime. Having said that I think Was is good enough to play for another couple of years in the Prem alongside Huth. Cambi obviously has a place but again I'd rather see an upgrade who can track better defensively and be more of a threat on goal. We should have a midfielder who can score at least 8 in a season. Hammond has done well but if we can't upgrade on him we really need our scouting staff looking at. Konch needs replacing but if we don't get a replacement then we need him to back up Jeff. An 'upgrade' on cambiasso, who tracks better defensively and scores 'AT LEAST' 8 a season? Your posts get more ridiculous daily..
Guest Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 An 'upgrade' on cambiasso, who tracks better defensively and scores 'AT LEAST' 8 a season? Your posts get more ridiculous daily.. Your love blinds you. We need to upgrade CD, RB, LB, CM at the very least to progress.
CupidStunt Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 How long do you think he can play PL for? 1,2,3,4? Some of his fans are saying he looks tired every game now. dont matter, the guys a ****ing legend already. Another season i'd hope
Raw Dykes Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Same as what others have said for me! Keep cambiasso and Wasileski, maybe Hammond also but the rest should all be moving on (with the exception of Smith who I have never seen play) if we are wanting to improve. Agreed. The OP can add Gallagher to that list. It's mental that he's still our player. What was Sven thinking?
Monsell1976 Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 We should be looking at adding quality next season, so I would only retain Esteban and wasyl, wasyl as a squad player, and Esteban as a starter, but bring in a quality midfielder so he doesn't have to play every game, he will be a year older, and will have to be rested more I should imagine.
tom27111 Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Paul Konchesky Dean Hammond Esteban Cambiasso Marcin Wasilewski This for me. We've all slated Konch this season, but there could be much worse back ups, I think he's probably done enough to earn an extra year. Of course I hope we find a quality left sided player, but Pearson knows what he can get from Konch. Similar with Hammond, he has the experience and can be available as a back up. Don't need to explain Was and Esteban.
gerrytaggart Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Bakayogo should stay and volunteer his time to the club. Help the groundsman or summat.
iancognito Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 On top of Esteban & Wasyl I think we'd need to keep Deano for another year, depends on how good/bad the Matty James injury is because if Cambiasso picks up a knock we're quite light on centre mids again, especially ball winning mids. The rest can go with our good wishes.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Out: Liam Moore (loan) Paul Konchesky Chris Wood Matthew Upson Zoumana Bakayogo Gary Taylor-Fletcher Anthony Knockaert Conrad Logan Adam Smith
dbtcity Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Was & cambiasso for me, if we stay up and want to avoid a relegation scrap next season we have to be looking at players for the starting 11 not squad fillers, first choice left back/wing back, Huth and a ball winning monster of a cm would be priority for me I don't think there would be much point in keeping Hammond as I feel the other midfielders we have at the club are better options for rotating/competition, konchesky just isn't up to prem football anymore and knocks seems like he's made his choice to up sticks rather than battle for a place in a premier league team
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Only 4 of those players are really first team squad players. I think we could possibly keep all 4, but I'd keep Cambi and Was, both on 1 year, possibly Hammond if James injury is as bad as feared, Konch days surely numbered though. Think we need to bring in a CB, LB, CM and a winger and we'll be set. Keep snapping up some talented kids as well, is possible Harry from the U21's could feature next season and with Vardy/Ulloa/Krama/Nuge/possibly Harry we're set fair for strikers. Obviously if we can improve on any position regardless of who it is we should seriously consider it.
Lord Nibblington Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Cambi obviously has a place but again I'd rather see an upgrade who can track better defensively and be more of a threat on goal. We should have a midfielder who can score at least 8 in a season. Whilst I'm sure there might be somewhere abroad who could do this, since it seems an imperative let's have a wee look at those proven midfielders from this season who've scored 8 goals and take our pick who'll join, shall we? Eden Hazard, David Silva, Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen, Juan Mata, Steven Gerrard, Ki Sung-Yeung. All of whom, will not doubt be ready, willing and eager to sign up. Or maybe Cambiasso's 4 goals as our joint 3rd top league scorer with Vardy suggest that's actually a pretty good return.

Guest Col city fan Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 I think it's been more about the formation FIF. Now we've sorted it, both King and Mahrez have weighed - in with a few goals as well as Cambiasso with his four. The 4-4-2 wasn't working mate. We're better now.
cc_star Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Depending on who arrives of course because we need a RB, LB, CB & CM to move onwards From that list I think there's squad places for Was Cam Hammond Konchesky
Finn Claw II Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 That Thiago chap looks decent at bayern... I'd take him over Cambiasso..
Haydos Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 I think it's been more about the formation FIF. Now we've sorted it, both King and Mahrez have weighed - in with a few goals as well as Cambiasso with his four. The 4-4-2 wasn't working mate. We're better now. Not to mention you're just never going to get as many goals from a midfielder in a 4-4-2, especially in a struggling side. For someone who would be considered as our 'playmaker', the one who a lot of our attack goes through, I think 4 goals is a decent return from Cambiasso. That's 10% of our overall goals. As was pointed out, central midfielders who have scored 8+ goals this year are very hard to come by and have generally been top class players. It's just yet more expectations from people who I don't think really understand football to have a ball-winning-playmaker who can score 8+ goals a season.
hackneyfox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Can't believe that some people want to keep Konchesky, not good enough and if we want to push on as a club he's one of the first out for me. Sign Huth and at least one other Cebtre half (preferably 2 and drop Morgan and Was). Couple of midfielders needed as well if James is out for some time. Replacement for Nugent?
MikeyT Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Same as the majority have said. Keep Cambiasso and Wasilewski and possibly Hammond. All the rest need to go now.

Despite being fantastic for the last 8 games? They've proved they're capable enough. I think we need another CB as well and someone should be signed for the first team, not 'as back up' but I think those two will be firmly in contention for a starting place next season.

I've said to keep him, he isn't great enough but we can't go through the season with no back-up. We've done ok with injuries, but if we sign a good LB, who ends up injured. I've said squad.
