thesilverfox Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Seeing the Stadium of Light on Saturday, which is 5 years older than the King Power Stadium, just made me realise even more how tatty, cheap and tired our stadium is looking.. probably due to the cost cutting measures taken when it was originally built. Short term I’m sure the club could clad the outside of the stadium, much like The Stadium Of Light/ St Mary’s etc, to replace those massive banners and exposed concrete, but short to mid term, with FFP and if we really want to push on as a club, do they need to start thinking about expanding it?
LcFc_Smiv Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I guess a makeover is due, as for expansion, we have to stabilise first
ramboacdc Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 the KP isnt too bad yet. go to aston villa and you will think our stadium is brand new!
Ollie93 Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Doesn't need expanding IMO, that money would be better spent establishing us a premier league club first.
foxfanazer Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Could definitely do with a bit of renovation. Would love it to be expanded if demand remains high
Staffs Fox Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I take it you've never been to Turf Moor? When I return from there our ground seems like the Emirates It could maybe do with a facelift however regarding expansion I think we're at the right capacity now. We sell out for most games but it's not a major problem getting tickets. All it takes is one bad season and we're back to playing Rotherham in front of 22,000. If we carry on to progress over the next few years then maybe but one step at a time
thesilverfox Posted 19 May 2015 Author Posted 19 May 2015 I think the 2 come hand in hand now though.. We can only improve by spending money and investing in the playing side, but with the FFP regulations we need to increase our revenues to spend that money. I'm sure cleverer people than me at the club already know that though..
Voll Blau Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Convert the Kop to terracing. That's all you need to do.
thesilverfox Posted 19 May 2015 Author Posted 19 May 2015 Yeah Turf Moor's not the best, but then I'd hope we'd be aspiring to be better than Burnley (in every department ) I think for now a facelift would be more than enough.. but if we stay up for another couple of years, why not push on?
Ollie93 Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Convert the Kop to terracing. That's all you need to do. I don't think that would help..
Bettsj2 Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 If we stay up again next year, I can see the stadium being extended. They could fill 40,000 without any problem.
Stevosevic Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 They want to expand it. We could get 35/36k for most games, and obviously 40k for the big ones. That would merit expansion imo. When we next go down, just close the upper tier.
Gerard Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Should have been 40,000+ originally. In the PL you'll always sell out for the big clubs. If Leicester are doing well 40,000 is very doable as well. You can always do deals with schools etc if we have less demand to get the next generation of City fans involved.
thesilverfox Posted 19 May 2015 Author Posted 19 May 2015 From what I can gather speaking to a few people close to the club, there are drawings in place for another tier around 2 sides of the ground. I know they spent a few quid last summer refreshing certain areas, but the exterior (main stand aside) really does need a bit of a re vamp
Leicesterpool Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I've always found it strange that with all the leicester legends the foxes have had, we're yet to have a statue. On the outside of the stadium I don't see a problem, for me it looks good as it is. For me they could do something like what Anfield have got, an open bar area outside the ground. Would ease crowd within the concourse.
ramboacdc Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 the arguement here however is if you expand once we are established then people will get bored of the same teams year in year out. stoke for example. they will start wanting more trophies and its less about the experience of being up with the big boys.
davieG Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I've always found it strange that with all the leicester legends the foxes have had, we're yet to have a statue. Because no one can decide who it should be and it needs some dedicated fans to put their hands in their pockets and kick off a fund raising campaign. even then there'd be arguments amongst the fans saying why him and not him etc.
Filbert_Ross Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I've always found it strange that with all the leicester legends the foxes have had, we're yet to have a statue. We had Beckford

We have more fans than Stoke though. We would easily average 35/36k

Bayfox Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Expanding really should be a few years off yet. 1 relegation and we would look boro week in week out. They need to start by sorting the catering deal. Replacing the seats. Faded ones just look shocking. Tone down the kp branding. To be fair by sellling advertising they have covered most the family and east stands in banners which hides the concrete a bit. But the cladding round the mainstand could also do with replacing.
davieG Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 The late great Keith Weller would be one candidate Agree but the fact you said 'one candidate' demonstrates the problem.
m4DD0gg Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Would have thought selling 21K season tickets before knowing what league we would be in is an incentive to expand. Looks like season tickets will not make general sale for next season as well. IF we stay up next season i would be tempted to expand the east stand as apparantly the foundations allow for a rapid expansion.
