He is English, was good with great potential, English coaches cant handle talent, instead of asking players of Coles ilk to use their skills, they try and drum unnatural tasks into their play.ie Stan Bowles, Marsh, plus plus, etc. If Ronaldo, Pele, Figo, Messi had been English, they wouldnt have got selected.

That's maybe a bit far, but you could certainly argue that Rooney would be in that class of player if he was born in Argentina, Spain, Brazil etc. rather than in England. Instead the attributes that made him so exciting as an 18 year old have been completely coached out of him.

The raw talent he showed in his early days was superb - the hat-trick vs Fenerbahce comes to mind. Nowadays I think he's lucky to be more than a bit-part player in the England side and it'll be better for English football when he retires and gives someone else a chance as no.10

Itv were praising him during the England match on Monday when the second goal went in, for hitting the target (which is the least I'd expect from him) despite the fact he didn't, he hit the post and it went in off the keeper.
