The Doctor Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Honestly, I've no idea how anyone can write us off with a straight face anymore. We're the champions of one of Europe's biggest leagues. There's absolutely no reason we couldn't beat any team in this competition. Would we be favourites? No. But we were 5000/1 underdogs this year so who cares? To an extent I'd agree - avoid a proper group of death scenario and I'd fancy us to make the quarters, but anyone sitting here thinking we could take Real Madrid is getting a bit carried away.

Not really. It's just football. Anyone expecting us to be favourites or even LIKELY to beat these is obviously nuts. But it's hardly impossible. Ronaldo has an off day, Kasper has a blinder, Huth is heroic, keep the score down. Why not?

There's absolutely no reason we couldn't beat any team in this competition. Would we be favourites? No. But we were 5000/1 underdogs this year so who cares? My thoughts exactly. I'm not saying we're going to do well in the CL, but it wouldn't shock me if we did. I can't believe there are still people who think we're the Leicester City from a year ago. Have they been in a coma? If we do well in this transfer window, we could be even better than we already are. Imagine that!
AKCJ Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Hardly bottled it. ****ing belted it. If anything, over confident. I can't say i've seen him take a penalty before but I bet he usually just strokes it into the corner. Belting it doesn't mean confidence IMO. He didn't trust his ability to put it into the corners.
GaelicFox Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 People seriously thinking we'd be able to challenge these or Barca? - I'm not having the argument we'll be an embarrassment to the premier league in the CL but there's no way we're beating either of these yet Are you watching this shit ??? We get right into these twats and Fcuk em up !
Izzy Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Fair play to Athletico, having a good go now. Game opening up nicely...

AKCJ Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 So he lacked confidence in his ability ? In my opinion, yes. I think he bottled it (understandable for a young man in the biggest game of his career to be fair).
Finnegan Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 In my opinion, yes. I think he bottled it (understandable for a young man in the biggest game of his career to be fair). It's about half an inch from being an amazing penalty.
purpleronnie Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Pepe you big fvckin girl. Should have been sent off.
fazzyfox Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Pepe once failed to get a part in Crossroads when the producers felt that his acting was too poor
The Doctor Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Are you watching this shit ??? We get right into these twats and Fcuk em up ! We'd approach it similar to Atletico do most of the time tbf - defend and counter. But getting near to these two? Them, Bayern and Barcelona are world class sides you'd have to say; anyone suggesting we'd bomb out at the first hurdle is going too much on reputation. We're a good side, and given a draw that isn't absolutely dreadful (So avoiding a group with the losers of this and PSV for instance) we'd stand a brilliant chance of going far; But people talking about this display as if they're on the same level as us, and us taking them is anything more than fleetingly unlikely - particularly when you're talking about a two legged game? At best you could say it's possible because we'd be playing them; we'd not stand any realistic chance of getting beyond them if we met them in the knockout round.

It's the two leg format for me, we could pull of a blinder as a one off you need to do it twice in the CL
Izzy Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Got to admit I'm quite enjoying this. Does that make me dirty?
GaelicFox Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 That kiss after the goal ! He Should get a fined for that fecker Got to admit I'm quite enjoying this. Does that make me dirty? Only of your watching it naked while riding an inflatable T-Rex

One thing you do need to factor in mind is the reduction in preparation / training time, increased travel, decreased recovery time and I expect less team selection consistency. All of these will have an influence on how we perform.
