johnny the fox Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Why appoint a manager? that's what the gutter press would expect us to do..
4everfox Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 i said hey, what's going on. You're looking kind of down to me. Cuz things ain't giving over. Listen to what I say. Gotta turn around.
Kitchandro Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 It's very simple. The owners have absolutely no idea what they're doing.
inckley fox Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 We sure seem to be taking a long time to sort a manager. It's this season we need him folks! Or are we intent on giving ourselves a close season handicap like last season when we didn't seem properly prepared either...even when kick-off arrived. Seems to me there's less than a handful of realistic names in the hat and seeing as telephones are carried in the hand nowadays I don't see the problem in contacting any of them. Five minutes each should be all it takes to find out if they'd be willing to come here. Each and every one should be well known to our owners in terms of background record and character. So where's the problem? It's quite simple reallly. From those willing to come, decide who you want most and put the others next in order of preference. Put your best proposal forward and give your first choice an hour to decide before going to the next one. It's a privilege to manage this club. We don't need to go begging anyone or to be left on hold while people compare other options. Worst scenario by the end of the weekend? Let Rudkin be manager. He seems to be pulling a few of the strings according to some accounts anyway. So haul him away from the politics and admin to see how good he is when it comes to really running a football team. Strikes me whoever takes over has been left with one of the easiest jobs in football. Decent team, lots of spirit and comeraderie, many players on longish contracts, owners with money to spare for improvements. Can't go wrong! We don't need to invest in managerial superstars. All the foundations are in place. We just need someone to speak nicely to the media about ambition and what a great place the club is to work at. Rudkin would manage that. No resentment, no strangle-holds and no sarky comments about ostriches. He could just let the football speak for itself and make sure all future football tours are just centred round the pitches at Belvoir Drive! Thank god for that, then. There I was thinking we needed to get the right new manager when it turns out the club can just manage itself! What a job!
Thracian Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Thank god for that, then. There I was thinking we needed to get the right new manager when it turns out the club can just manage itself! What a job! You worry too much! Pearson was a genius. Sorted everything... even the need for him to remain here.
SecretPro Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Its getting dull now. Can see this dragging out for weeks yet.
Fridgechef Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Its getting dull now. Can see this dragging out for weeks yet. I reckon it will cone out the blue on Thursday, especially as the team have a training camp at the weekend (I beleive).
Bagworthblue Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 imagine the new guy is already 'virtually in place' bar finer contract points and the governance route to getting it signed - no statement from Leicester suggesting they are 'still looking' or 'taking their time', no leaks from other clubs etc. It will be a currently unemployed manager who is keeping his distance from the press right now but who will be readying himself to head off to Austria in the coming days. Meanwhile Lenny will be on his way back from Austria with Bolton!
SecretPro Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Nah. I think the owners are struggling to find the man they want. I don't think they are anywhere even close to getting someone in. The reason there is very little speculation and talk is likely to be because there is absolutely **** all to talk about.

I think that's a good shout, if we'd been getting in contact with other managers surely an agent here or there would have leaked something to the media, if so there will be an explosion of activity in the bookies and a quick announcement. I suppose there is also the possibility that we haven't started to contact anyone yet or finalised the target list. How long does it usually take for a club to draw up an hit list.

Judging by their feelings on Pearson you'd expect them to have had the list drawn up before they even sacked him. I assume somebody within the club should always been keeping an eye out on potential management candidates should anything sudden happen.
Fox92 Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 It's very simple. The owners have absolutely no idea what they're doing. I agree. Especially if they haven't got a manager directly lined up to replace him. Season starts in a month tomorrow, so they've got four weeks to appoint the right manager who will then want to probably change parts of the squad.
foxinsocks Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 I am hoping they have a solution sorted - this "delay" is so that we welcome the new guy (without thinking he ousted NP) - maybe I hope for too much?
lgfualol Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 maybe there is a new manager already but they forgot to tell us #believe
thybluefox Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 maybe there is a new manager already but they forgot to tell us #believe Imagine if we think we're managerless all the way up to the first game and then Klopp walks out of the tunnel at 5 to 3! Top banter from the Thais. I actually just shuddered at the use of "banter"

That would be absolutely shocking if that were the case, we're over a week now from the time we sacked Mr Pearson. I think the more likely scenario is they wanted Hiddink (it makes too much sense given he resigned two days before Pearson was sacked and he is so highly respected in Asian circles of football) but given he appears to not want a manager's job but to be paid to sit watching us in the stand they now have little clue who to fall back on and are now having to think over who instead they want.

MONreborn Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Can the owners and pearson not just make up and kindly re-appoint our best manager this millenium?
David Lowe Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 After Sven there was a 3 week gap before NP. People said the club was in disarray. Wrong, they didn't rush and made quite a good appointment. This has only been 7 days so far. If it takes another 2 weeks, the new manager will still be in place well before the start of the season.

This has only been 7 days so far. If it takes another 2 weeks, the new manager will still be in place well before the start of the season. It wasn't wrong at all, the club was in dissaray. We had amassed a 90 billion debt, had a massively unbalanced squad, just lost 3-0 at home to Millwall, were in the lower half off the championship and had a load of players on huge money who couldn't be bothered to make any effort for us. We appointed a man who was capable of sorting that all out but the reason getting that man took three weeks to get though was because we spent that time trying to convince Martin O' Neill to come back first and then sounding out whether Harry Redknapp was available, fortunately neither of them wanted the position. So forgive me if I'm not just going to sit here convincing myself everything looks fantastic as the top men are on it.
Corky Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Generally we change managers when the club is struggling/ in a negative spiral. For once, we're changing when optimism is greater, the run of form is fantastic and the club is healthy on and off the pitch. We were planning to have Pearson in charge on the first day, that's clear. Three signings and other targets in place. That's been thrown out and we have no clue who the owners are looking for as the manager, not even a shortlist made for candidates and nothing to suggest anyone has been approaced.
