I still stand by HDTV. Maybe more expensive but its reliable and top quality.

I've got the nvidia shield, upgraded from the M8. So far it's been excellent because it can handle the bigger builds with ease. It does have limitations ala the fire stick/box whereas its a build on top of android so you have to sideload certain things. Kodi comea preinstalled si you don't need to worry about that.

I'm not into downloading but you can download from a lot of the addons if you set it up right. 

 

Also I can usually stream 1080 (is that 4K?) films with no trouble before

4K is like 4000 as opposed to 1080. So over triple quality. Just very little content.
