Guest MattP Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Pearson, all our recent success has been with him at the helm. This really has been a shit summer so far. All depends who you think was last season's best player. The fellow players thought it was young Jeff Schlupp...and he's stayed.I thought it was Huth. Until he joined and got fit, we looked like a relegation side. And we've signed him.....Cheer up mate. Come on mate, players' player is often voted for the most popular player or most improved, you don't really think our squad seriously thought Schulpp was our actual BEST player last year do you?
Guest MattP Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 If anyone could doubt the intent of the owners of LCFC they could do well to consider the business record of the family and couple it with the success that they have already carved out into forays into achieving sporting success.. Comparing the challenge involved in realising achievements in business with cultivating success is sport is not simple, it is not as simple as throwing money at it and it is not about being dependent any one individual… Pearson, Cambiasso or any one else... Success in business can be accomplished through firstly having the idea, the vision to make the idea real, ambition, planning and determination whereas success in Football requires these qualities with an extra ingredient…. King Power is a successful business founded in 1989 and is now Thailand's leading travel retail group, based in Bangkok. This year the King Power Foxes Polo team has triumphed in two of the most prestigious tournaments outside of Argentina…the Queens Cup at Windsor and Jaeger Le Coultre Cup at Cowdray Park.. The Polo victories will not have come by chance…..money yes, planning undoubtedly but beyond that a mental picture that put this team beyond the reach of the best of their rivals….. They hired the best polo players in the world, built a team of over 60 stable, veterinary and support staff…. and of course 'Top' is an experienced and talented player. Fostering a footballing legacy at LCFC conjures similarities that can be drawn between the successes the owners have enjoyed in business and Polo…. The extra ingredient that sets them aside from any previous management group is that because their vision is so strong, they have patience in abundance… Infoxicated by LCFC, What the actual fcuk? They have a monopoly on selling cheap booze and fags in one of the World's busiest airports, a place where people are forced to spend hours on end with nothing to do but wait, as the guy above says, they could print money if Joey Essex was the CEO. You'll be telling is Sheiks Mansoor's son is a business genius next for selling the trillions of gallons of oil he was given.
Mark_w Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Managed to resist going for either of the two options that have been included as a gag, voted for Pearson.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Pearson, all our recent success has been with him at the helm. This really has been a shit summer so far. Come on mate, players' player is often voted for the most popular player or most improved, you don't really think our squad seriously thought Schulpp was our actual BEST player last year do you? I don't profess to know the motives of the players in the squad Matt. Do you? What I do know is that Jeff Schlupp showed some of the potential last season that some of us thought he would (and said he would) and for me, he's one of the most exciting young players the club has had for years. I think you, amongst others, were pretty critical of him last season weren't you? Almost taking the pee at some points? For me, the fact that he's stayed, along with Huth who, again for me was THE big difference ultimately is great news. Really good news. So far from the summer being shitty, it's been ok. Now if we cement this with a couple more quality signings I think we have a great chance of progressing. And I'd be looking at the central midfield area. That's the area of weakness now IMO.
FLINTHAMFC Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 How can you compare a player who gave us a year with a manager that has guided us to winning 2 leagues and gave us premier league football. It beggars belief.
Captain... Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 How can you compare a player who gave us a year with a manager that has guided us to winning 2 leagues and gave us premier league football. It beggars belief. Because one has been replaced and one hasn't, at the moment our team looks very weak in midfield, but we have a very experienced manager in front of our already existing back room staff to replace Pearson.
artursteppe Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Get over it all. Move on. Ranieri is better than Pearson. Now we get a new leader for the long term in midfield and we will soon be saying Esteban who? The glass is actually half full and filling all the time. The club is moving forward, it's time the fans did as well!
Fox92 Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 I voted Pearson because it's his squad, he knows the players very well, he trusted them and they worked very hard for him. On the field, Cambiasso is a loss but I think Huth would have been a bigger loss.
Wilson_6 Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 We've got a brilliant manager now IMP. Were being linked with some very good young midfielder's. Why look backwards>? Look forwards....You balloon head!
Wymsey Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Pearson, obviously. He set out the operations on the field very organised and taken the right approach, consistently (after all the seasons with us). Cambiasso was an 'one-off' situation; his top-flight experience certainly helped, but I'm adamant Pearson would've (just) kept us up without him.
Rincewind Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Keith Weller Didn't Ranieri say what some have said on here, that we now need a young version of Cambiasso? I think he knows what he is doing and wont panic as much as some of the fans. Cambiasso was never a long term solution so a replacement would be needed anyway. I liked Pearson but he may have just turned us into a mid table side The owners want more. Pearson did the groundwork and hopefully Ranieri can take us that bit further.
Raw Dykes Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Oh yeh.. its poll time baby. The loss of these two is massive, but which one will more negatively affect our season? For me, while NP did a fantastic job for us, i dont see Ranieri as a step down, whereas, I cannot imagine any other player having the impact on games that Cambiasso had, so for me, Cambiasso is a greater loss. Edit -By the way, im not happy about the use of "affect/effect" in the poll and question.... sorry grama folks Cambiasso's a great player, but Pearson's done a lot more for the club. I'll be surprised if we don't suffer since losing both of them. "Affect" is correct in this case. "Effect" is a noun and "affect" is a verb. I don't know if you've edited it.
foxfanazer Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 I'm not avoiding any question. I'm stating that no one has the faintest idea how things will pan out. So, rather than being negative and doom and gloom, be positive and hopeful. If we start the season appallingly and sit bottom at Christmas (like we were last season incidentally), THEN worry and whinge. But not now... Get behind em all... It's ok criticizing people for being negative Col but you definitely had your fair share of negative posts last season. So many posters that had nothing good to say for most of Pearson's time here are suddenly trying to take the moral high ground and make out everyone else aren't supporting the ckub properly. Doesn't sit well with me
ozleicester Posted 22 July 2015 Author Posted 22 July 2015 Interesting that 33% have said Cambiasso... but 0% have commented.. odd? There's always uncertainty in football, and it's constantly changing. If people want certainty, in sport they are unlikely to find it. Enjoy the ride folks, and stop whinging about stuff that may never happen
Liamlcfc1 Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 A club is bigger then both yes Cambiasso was class but he is only getting older and we can bring in a younger player with the same class the only way is up IMO
Dan Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Pearson. Cambiasso maybe if he was 30 but we were probably getting one, maybe two more years of him at his best and that's being optimistic. Pearson was building something here that would've entered the top half in the end. Will we now? Time will tell but I'm not holding out hope.
eunmac Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 I chose Pearson, simply because if he was still here, Cambiasso probably would have stayed too.
LanguedocFox Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Voted for Pearson, although I was hoping that Cambiasso could have been persuaded (and maybe Pearson could have done it) to stay on for a year or two and then move into coaching, Once Ranieri came in, I think Cambiasso's decision was pretty much a done deal, although I doubt anyone other than Pearson could have persuaded him to stay. Interesting that Cambiasso said he only had the offer within the previous 24 hours - I thought there was a deal on the table from the end of last season.
David Hankey Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Pearson won't be a loss and I hope he's taken the idiot son with him. Cambiasso never want to re-sign else he would have done so 2 months ago. Managers come, managers go and it's the same with players. We never thought we survived without O'Neill or any of the best players we ever had but we have and will continue to do so.

You may be right but he didn't do a very good job of it in the weeks before he was sacked
cc_star Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 How is this even a thing????? A record of continual improvement over a period of years, sustainable building with players not mercenaries, performing week in & week out, a great mentality of never giving up, going the extra mile, team ethic, the whole is greater than the individual, everything combined is quite rare in football. Shame we've threw it away on the roll of a dice, even if that roll of the dice does work out which hopefully it does. Vs A legendary player who had a great final quarter of a season with us, then blew us out. If the poll said Huth, it may have been worth thinking over IMO Christ, anyone who votes Cam neads a head transplant. Cambiasso needed replacing anyway whether he stayed or departed
shasse Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 ‘Affect’ or ‘effect’? Affect and effect are different in meaning, though frequently confused. Affect is chiefly used as a verb and its main meaning is ‘to influence or make a difference to’, as in the following example sentences: the pay increase will greatly affect their lifestyle the dampness began to affect my health the weather will affect my plans for the weekend Effect, on the other hand, is used both as a noun and a verb, although is more commonly used as a noun. As a noun it means ‘a result or an influence’, as in: move the cursor until you get the effect you want The beneficial effects of exercise are well documented over time the effect of loud music can damage your hearing Be sure 'Grammar' cop that your know what you are talking about before criticize another poster...

So many posters that had nothing good to say for most of Pearson's time here are suddenly trying to take the moral high ground and make out everyone else aren't supporting the ckub properly. Doesn't sit well with me Mate, 'moaning' needs to be taken in context. When I was 'moaning' last season, we sat rooted to the base of the division, couldn't win to save our lives and looked doomed. The bookies at one point had us 1/7 to be relegated! Then the miracle happened...and the rest is history. Now is a different situation..The season ain't even bloody started! Moaning when you look awful, get crashed out of the cup by a dreadful Villa side look as though you will be relegated too, IS NOT the same as now surely? The contexts are different. Finally I've stated well done to Pearson for pulling it out the bag AND for those (like yourself) who stuck with him. You saw something I didn't. Or didn't until the West Brom game anyway.
