For me, while NP did a fantastic job for us, i dont see Ranieri as a step down, whereas, I cannot imagine any other player having the impact on games that Cambiasso had, so for me, Cambiasso is a greater loss. Edit -By the way, im not happy about the use of "affect/effect" in the poll and question.... sorry grama folks

It was apparent last night when we went a goal down in our first pre season friendly. Unless people were joking? Already we have predictions of us finishing bottom this season, based on what, I have no idea. Who knows? It could be that neither Pearson nor Cambiasso going prove to be a big loss. They could be a big loss, but no-one knows do they? If, for instance, we now go out and sign a truly defensive minded midfielder, this could tighten up that midfield area that, IMO, was a problem last season. Under Ranieri, it could be that some players flourish where they weren't given much of a chance under Pearson. He could bring through some younger players for instance. Cmon ladies and gents. They have gone. We must move on and hope that we continually improve as a squad and as a club. We could go the other way, of course, but nothing is set in stone. Pearson has been sacked, Cambiasso has made his decision. That's fact. We now look to a different future for the football club. I for one, am excited by the prospect of the forthcoming season and will look to see who we sign (if any), how we set up and how we do. With an open mind.....

I'm stating that no one has the faintest idea how things will pan out. So, rather than being negative and doom and gloom, be positive and hopeful. If we start the season appallingly and sit bottom at Christmas (like we were last season incidentally), THEN worry and whinge. But not now... Get behind em all...

Also given that the worlds his oyster Cambi would be barking to stay in Leicester. Fantastic and a minor miracle he was here in the first place. He has shown us the way forward, now the hard work starts.

Probably agree with that (except maybe MON) but if we sign two of these young French centre mid prospects and they turn out to hit the ground running then I dare say the heartache will be forgotten by September. Absolutely must, must, must do some business in the transfer market and must sign more than just one central midfielder of some quality but it's weird to be in a situation where there's both sadness and potential. Cambiasso was brilliant but we also shouldn't have needed a 34 year old free transfer to rally us round and dig us out of a slump. Whether he stayed or not we were always going to need young new legs in the middle. Sad though.

A replacement is a must You're a bit dim aren't you. Cambiasso had a month to sign whilst Pearson was still here following the end of the season.

Cambiasso played his part and was a highly influential part, but it was all of the players playing for the club and the manager that saved us last season. Ranieri exudes different qualities and I can't imagine the players playing for him in the same fashion. Maybe that's why we've retained Shakey and Walsh. Maybe they were the real motivators on the training pitch. Ian Stringer said last night that it will be a long time before someone of Cambiasso's quality pulls on a Leicester City shirt. I understand what he means - Cambiasso has had the kind of career every footballer dreams of, and for him to end up at Leicester was a season-long dream for us. (By the way I'm happy with 1 season. I was still living off the short time Roberto Mancini was here.) But I do disagree with Stringer. With Ranieri as the owners aiming for Europe, and with the scouting staff still in place, I think someone of Cambiasso's CURRENT ability will be seen in a Leicester shirt sooner than he thinks. The fact that Ranieri has had to come in to a new squad in a league he hasn coached in for a decade could mean that he will struggle, and it will be interesting how the owners would react should he do so. Which is why I think Pearson is the bigger loss. But whatever happens, I think eventually the owners' dream of European football will be realise sooner rather than later.

All depends who you think was last season's best player. The fellow players thought it was young Jeff Schlupp...and he's stayed. I thought it was Huth. Until he joined and got fit, we looked like a relegation side. And we've signed him..... Cheer up mate.
