Nevermind the FM 2016, I've just found my copy of Tactical Manager 2 that came with an issue of fourfourtwo.

If you're losing all the time you're using too many team instructions or the roles you're using aren't set up correctly, attack duties are much more agressive this year so if you're using more than 3 in a side then they're basically out of the game during the build up play.

Resigned at Rapid Bucharest after five and a half years. Opened up the Danish and Serbian leagues and took the job at AaB 18 months later. Is a step up

 

Left after 8 or 9 months, started off really well then turned to shit, also had 3 times where I played on a Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday (Europe) and Sunday... randomly took the Uruguay job. Qualified for the 2026 World Cup finishing 4th in my group. Knocked out by England in the first knock out round. The three years I was there was shit. Hated it.

 

Joined Hearts in 2027. Finished 2nd in my first season, lost 2 in my 33 league games then lost 3/5 in the play-off part. Into 2028 now

Bench Vardy because shinjis complaining he's not playing, bring him on after seventy minutes with okazaki playing poorly, scores a brace. Start okazaki next match, playing poorly, bring on Vardy at half time, scores a brace. He many times do i do this before I can justify dropping shinji (vardys in the form of his life) in any interactions?

You have several options:

1. Tell Okazaki to bollocks, he'll either back down or ask to be sold, if the latter he'll get over it after a while if you're successful in the league.

2. Keep playing Vardy off the bench, his work rate, pace and stamina against tired legs might actually be more effective than starting him. Doubt it but if it ain't broke don't fix?

3. Most sensible option is have a formation that fits them both in and rotate that. You don't have to make drastic changes, if you're playing a one striker system then I assume you have an AMC in it? Bump that forward to a DLF and play Shinji there? Or stick him on the wing?

Just finished first season with Sheff Wed - promoted as champions (despite nearly chucking it away - 11 point lead whittled down to zero, eventually won it on goal difference). Forestieri is an absolute machine - 20 goals and 13 assist, playing as a False 9.

 

Preparing for first season in the Prem, signed Maher, Trippier, Bruma and a Czech keeper (Pavlenka?). Nearly managed to bag Subotic from Dortmund - 4.2 million! He agreed terms but ended up going to Seville. Bastard.

But I'm too invested in my FC United save to give up just yet.

 

I'm in League 2 just hovering in a nothing position, around about 16th place, which is good considering I'm predicted 24th I suppose. Trouble is, even though the club went professional when I got promoted, and I've got nearly 1m to spend on players, players still treat the club like it's in the Conf. North (or lower) and I can't really sign anyone above Conf. North / South level.

Are you bossing this years? I normally start slowly and then crack it but this year I've struggled just about everywhere.

I walked from Plymouth and ended up at Barnsley, thinking they were a better bet but no matter what I did we'd dominate games and not win them. Beating Maidstone 2-3 in the FA Cup did it for me, complete domination and we still only just scraped it against a sixth tier side. Hopeless.

 

Leicester's quite a tough one to judge because I know for a fact I won't better what's been done in real life. Can't wait for Kante on 16.2.

I keep making custom databases to keep myself occupied. Currently playing in the "Liga Iberia" with my own small Lisbon based club full of Angolans and Cape Verdeans haha. Tbh building the database was more fun than playing it.

God I'm sad.

Ah man, I fvcked it. Milik wants to leave (after scoring 23 in his first season for me) and he has a release clause of £14million (which I couldn't remove when offering him a contract) which Juventus and Athletico have activated. The bright side is Vardy has got 18 in his last three seasons so I expect the same again but I'm not going to get a like-for-like quality replacement for Milik.

One game into my first Prem season - one sodding game - and I've already got 2 players whinging about not playing enough. FFS.

This game is so frustrating, do great against the big teams but cant seem to win against the teams lower in the table. I beat Chelsea in a close fought 1-0 away win who are 2nd in the table but then loose to Everton who are 18th 3-0 in the next game (this is in december btw) using the same tactic and players. To add insult to injury I haven't beaten Everton once in the 8 or so times I have played them over 3 seasons, its incredibly annoying.

I'm finished with this until 16.2. I can't play the game. I admit defeat.

I used to enjoy football manager. But ive realised this version is total shit.

 

1) The huge amount of goals immediately after a goal at the other end. At least be realistic, this doesnt happen in real life nearly as often. It happens every other game on this version.

 

2) The huge amount of cards. Players end the season with 16 bookings. Ridiculous. Its like every team has at least 2 Cattermoles.

 

3) The nature of the goals. 99% from crosses. And you know when the goal is coming too before its even in. Any time a player does that move where he has a burst of speed past the defender before he crosses, itll be a goal. Its stupid.

 

4) The tactics. They dont resemble anything like what teams do in real life. People come up with the most ridiculous formations and styles to try and beat the game, and then your staff suggest the most ridiculous things on the bench. "we need to keep the ball better"........so you tell them to keep the ball. 5 minutes later they tell you to play more long balls forward. Make your mind up.

 

5) There are games where you will not win, no matter what you do. Change the formation, the style, anything you want. You will lose this game no matter what you do, its already been decided. If you take a 2-0 lead, youll still lose. Happens regularly. You KNOW you will lose, from 2-0 up.

 

6) Runs of form. The stupid thing is, youll have runs where you win 3 or 4 in a row, and it seems like you have a good control of tactics and play. Then an opponent, usually one youd beat comfortably will beat you GUARANTEED, and then for the next 4 games afterwards, youll play crap no matter what changes you make to your tactics. During your purple patch, you could play a 3-1-6 formation and shout abuse at them in the dressing room before the game and theyll still win.

 

7) Injuries. TOO MANY.

 

8) The Media. So utterly boring.

 

 

Its a terrible game and its a real shame. I remember the golden era or football manager, or championship manager as it was then, CM97/98 partnering Shearer and Cantona, Ronaldo was a beast, and the menu's were tidy and the gameplay was good even in a game that old.

 

Even last years version of the game was miles better than this.

Must say having bought 15 and 16 I've ended up going back to 11 after a few day's worth of playing. DOn't feel like I have a hold of what's going on, as is said above. Lacks logic sometimes.

I'm trying out the demo. Kinda getting into it, but lordy there's a lot of details you have to sift through. Especially in the lower leagues with part time players getting fatigued and with no depth in the squad; takes an hour to figure out the starting 11 and formation they can play, only to change it completely for the next match.

 

Game could do with some simplifying and easier access to the key info, like star rating.
