Tuna Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 Yes I came in too thinking 'why do we want to sign a player from an american club?'.
Bettsj2 Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 Was expecting Ranieri to attract a couple of Marquee signings and splash the cash for better or worse but that is not looking likely I think this was everyones expectation because he's a foreign manager and the first thing everyone said was 'Sven'. I didnt really know much about his career but the more you look into Ranieri, 'marquee' signings aren't really his bag. He seems to be quite big on promoting young players which is backed up by his playing of Lawrence, Barmby and Chilly B in pre season and his watching of the U21's the other day.
car1os Posted 26 July 2015 Author Posted 26 July 2015 Not to be pedantic but it's Atalanta. Atlanta, are another massive football team based in America, although they do play football with a slightly different shaped ball... My bad - typo. Good to see we are looking at options at the back but we need at least one more midfielder before the Sunderland game. Would rather go for Chester than this chap though
Gerard Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 Apparently turned down Inter in January http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/03/atalanta-defender-admits-he-turned-down-inter-interest/ And was on the brink of the France squad. International career[edit]Benalouane was eligible to either France (by place of birth) or Tunisia (his parent came from). Despite played once for France under 21 team, he submitted a transfer request to represent Tunisia senior side in 2010. However despite he received a call-up against Chad in African Cup of Nations qualifier,[6] he missed the game because he failed vaccination prior the travel to Chad. In October he refused to join Tunisia for the match against Togo, which he expected to receive call-up from Laurent Blanc instead. However, FIFA warned Benalouane that as the paperwork had completed, he could represent Tunisia only, refuse to show up may risk a ban in club football.[7] Benalouane refused another call-up in August 2013.[8] http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/03/atalanta-defender-admits-he-turned-down-inter-interest/

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 Not too keen on this one. Talk sport is usually full of sh*t anyway.
Babylon Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 http://talksport.com/football/leicester-transfer-report-claudio-ranieri-set-make-ps7m-tunisian-defender-his-first-signing? £7m?!?!?!?!?! Is he any good for that?
Ricey Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 Odd article. It says "Claudio Ranieri set to make £7m Tunisian defender his first signing" and then "Benalouane is yet to have a medical or agree personal terms and talkSPORT has been told other Premier League clubs are considering hijacking the deal". Hardly sounds that "set" to me.

Was close to a france call up at one point.

lcfcsnow Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 How do you go from £700k to €7 million in a year? This doesn't sit well with me, I don't like his name either.
