tommyh Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Hi everyone. I was hoping for some help / advice after an experience i received with Coral bookmakers over the weekend. On friday night i put x3 bets using my online Coral account on different goal markets on a Brazilian match that was kicking off in the early hours of Saturday morning. I think it kicked off at something stupid like 2am so i didnt stay up and keep checking the latest scores like i would usually do when im betting i just woke up on Saturday morning checked my Coral account balance and it was £600 up on what i had left it on before i went to sleep meaning that at least one of my bets had won. I checked my previous bets history and it said that all x3 of the bets on this Brazilian match were infact winners hence the hefty increase in my balance by £600 so obviously i was delighted. Therefor straight away i thought that i would go and spend this £600 on a holiday which i would noway of been able to afford otherwise i would end up losing it all again or wasting it. So i left it in my Coral account balance and went and brought a holiday for close to the sum of the £600 winnings. When i got back from the travel agents i went onto my Coral account to withdraw the funds to see that the £600 winnings had dissapeared without any explanation? I have contacted Coral this morning after endless amounts of emails and waiting in phone ques to be told that the x3 bets i had on the Brazilain matches that had settled as winnings and the winnings credited to my account had actually been settled wrongly and they were actually losers so without any contact the £600 had been taken from my account and to top it off i can not get a refund on my holiday so have ended up spending £600 on a holiday that i cant afford. Can Coral do this? Has anyone got any help advice for me as this error from Coral has got me into a right mess and im sure that this cant be acceptable?? Thanks in advance
Danizen Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 You haven't got a leg to stand on, unfortunately. Bookies are not even obliged to payout on winners let alone losers. Pretty shocking that they would mess up three separate bets, though. Maybe you could hound them on Facebook and Twitter and if you get enough people on board, it won't be worth the negative PR and they will pay up.
ramboacdc Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 in theory they can do it. can i have your bets and the game please and i will look into this? If coral are not willing to help you in this matter your next port of call is IBAS. (http://www.ibas-uk.com/index.php) they are above the bookies and are an independant adjudicator and will judge who was in the right of wrong. if you win you will get the money. if they win you will get an explaination as to why. my own advise would have been not spend the money until its in your account or at least "take the money and run." experience: Worked as a bookie for coral, PP and Ladbrokes.
Molly Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 just go back and cancel your holiday, you have a period where you can do that without losing cash.
kristianity77 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Question is, did the 3 teams actually win? If they didn't, then I can't see what can be done about it. If I ever put bets on, or accumulators etc, I always check and double check the actual scores before I do anything with any winnings.

I hadnt checked the fulltime score in the game, i just presumed as you would that because the bets had been settled as winners that they were infact winners. Therefor i was under no presumtion to take it and run because i automatically presumed that they had won. When they told me this this morning i did check the game and it finished 0-0 so infact all the bets should have lost in the first place but i never thought that there may be an error on there behalf so just automatically thought id won. The game in question was Porto Alegre B v EC Pelotas, some Brazilian game.

No none of the bets won, but because they money had gone into my balance, and on my betting history classed as winners i didnt think i would need to search the internet for the result as its settled as won

It's gutting but you just have to take it as a lesson and move on.
Turtles Head Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I once had betway credit me a grand for no reason.. Withdrew the money and never logged in again

tommyh Posted 3 August 2015 Author Posted 3 August 2015 How long was it in the account for from when you woke up? Muns or hours? 7/8 hours!
separator Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Here are Coral's T&C's, section 15 is about errors, you don't have a leg to stand on unfortunately... https://coral-eng.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2130 Never had any issues with Coral personally, apart from their website is a bit rubbish, withdrew £800 in winnings yesterday evening and its already cleared into my bank account.
kingcarr21 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 You can cancel your holiday surely?? Looks like you will have to take this error on the chin. If its in their T&C's like seperator has stated then you have no chance im afraid.
purpleronnie Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Not sure what tommy or everyone else thinks but maybe as a one off some of us could chip in a few quid to give him enough to go on hoilday. Only need 60 people on here to chip in £10. What do you think?

Captain... Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 First of all, why would you book a holiday with the money and not take it out of your account first? Secondly you sound like you have a gambling problem, why bet on some random Brazilian match in the middle of the night so you can't even enjoy the thrill of watching the match with your bets on? You don't even check your bets just your balance, which implies that you put a lot of bets on. You also said that you wanted to spend the money on a holiday before you lost it again, even more reason to withdraw it straight away. Go and cancel your holiday, then cancel your Coral account, stop wasting money on betting put a little away each month and you will soon save up enough for a holiday.

As harsh as this sounds, I think you are probably right. I'm no saint when it comes to betting but there have been some very silly irrational decisions made, that have caused this ridiculous situation.
stripeyfox Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 It does sound a bit reckless to wake up on Saturday morning, notice that you're £600 richer and go and book a holiday the same day without at least considering that it might be an error. I'm not a gambler, or at least not to any great degree. I might put a tenner in my account every now and then and place small bets on games on a Saturday. I agree with Captain that it sounds like you decided spunk the winnings on a holiday because you feared you'd lose it again by gambling it away. Christ knows why anyone bets on these obscure sporting events. To answer your question, as many others have already done, I don't think you have a leg to stand on other than to plead to their better nature (unlikely) And I'm not judging you mate. As I said, I'm not a gambler but I certainly have other vices which I'm addicted to and I'm shit with money so I'm not preaching from a perfect position. Just my opinion. Out of interest, where are you going on holiday?
VLC86 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Out of interest, where were you going on holiday? Edited for you
filbertway Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 He said he withdrew the money. They still have to process the withdrawal request.
Turtles Head Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 They still have to process the withdrawal request. Yeah it went through.
