DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 That was certainly a handball. The ref should have sent himself off for not calling it!
FireFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 No way that is a red. He does not deny a clear goal scoring opportunity.
The Doctor Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 No way that is a red. He does not deny a clear goal scoring opportunity. It's deliberate handball though, which can also be a red.
bovril Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Should have been a red. I also thought Morgan's 'foul' should have been given.
Kitchandro Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 I thought he had a pretty good game tbh, one or two things he got wrong but on a whole he wasn't what i'd call bad. He made some flabbergasting decisions. There was the handball and the several obvious yellow cards he didn't book them for. In the last 20 minutes Okazaki was hacked down in the middle and didn't even get a free kick.

Kitchandro Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Should Wes have been given a red for his push on Fletcher? Potentially, you could argue he'd won the ball with the header and tangled after, or that it wasn't really a goalscoring opportunity because the ball was gone and schmeichel would have got there first, but you'd have wanted it if it was against us. Fletcher threw himself to the ground after basically no contact. Not even sure why it was shown on MOTD.
Finnaldo Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 It's deliberate handball though, which can also be a red. Deliberate handball stopping a goal scoring opportunity, surely a red?
pleatout Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 It's deliberate handball though, which can also be a red. only if..... Deliberate handball stopping a goal scoring opportunity, surely a red? Law 12 (again) A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the following seven offences: • serious foul play • violent conduct • spitting at an opponent or any other person • denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area) • denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick • using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures • receiving a second caution in the same match
bovril Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 He wasn't great with crosses but he is from Romania after all.
lcfcliam Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Just watched it again on Game of the Day. From replays I would probably say it didn't hit his forearms, it looks like it's hit his chest and then thighs but for a keeper to come so far outside the box in the situation he was in and leaving his arms in the position they was in I think he should of gone as from first viewing in real time you'd assume hands was used. He was lucky not to go but think this was solely down to some poor refereeing decisions today. I hope the standard of officials improve this year. But then this looks like handball and goes again most of what I've just posted lol It's funny you mention that Simon Hooper reffed his first premier league game yesterday in the Norwich Palace game did you see the goal he disallowed? Very brave decision!
Brooksy Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Him and Morgan should have been off imo. Who gives a shit though we won 4-2 yesssssssssss
GloverFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Plain and simple from my perspective ... Clear handball and red card! Great this game, generates so many opinions!
iancognito Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 In an incident like that it's actually more the ref's call, he was at least 3 yards outside the box and face on to the ref's position, he must be seeing things like that. Mason was having a good game up til that point but the last hour was littered with mistakes
linemakers Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Any other referee would have sent him off for that, Lee Mason had a bad game but that was his worst error for allowing play to continue after the handball. He got that wrong, but think he got the Morgan one wrong as well. We were lucky not to lose him with a red
NewburyFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Him and Morgan should have been off imo. Who gives a shit though we won 4-2 yesssssssssss And Rodwell should've walked too after hacking down Okazaki when on a booking. He was shit for both teams.
ImBlue Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 One of the worst decisions I've ever seen. The referee was a clown.
Brooksy Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 And Rodwell should've walked too after hacking down Okazaki when on a booking. He was shit for both teams. Didn't see that on motd but it's no surprise the ref was shite. The standard of officiating last season was appalling
TOMBlcfc Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Ridiculous that the ref didn't see it, he was right next to the incident when it happened! Even if he had any doubts the reactions from both Pants himself and Vardy showed it was a definite hand ball
caeruleus Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 No debate here. A defender would have to have his arms behind his back to come out like that, He was outside the area so he was a defender. Red sod all else will do, Vardy could have got through.
Dan Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 One of the most hilarious and embarrassing decisions I've ever seen. It was absolutely blatant. Imagine if a manager or a player had made such a horrendous mistake? I can sympathise with referees to the extent that they're policing a large proportion of total cheats, and that they have to judge things immediately as they see them, but how can literally everyone in the ground see this except the well positioned referee? Or either of his officials? To me it's just a complete failure to apply the rules because there is absolutely no way they've all missed it. It's indefensible.
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Curious if anyone knows an answer to this. When I saw the replay slowed down from this incident, I believe the ball hit his chest and ricochet on to his arm meaning a handball. I was amazed at the time the ref and linesman missed it. What I can't work out though is why the incident was not included as a highlight on MOTD and therefore not discussed. I would have thought this was quite a talking point since, in my opinion, it should have been a straight red and suspension. I'm not fussed either way just find it very bizarre that MOTD missed this one out. If you read this Mr Lineker, what is the answer?

It was on MOTD but they didn't analyse it at the end, presumably because a) it was so blatantly wrong and b) it didn't make a difference to the result of the game in the end.
justfoxes Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 Blatant handy chesty handy ball there ref definitely as well as his little helpers really left their specs in the dressing room for this one !! This is where video evidence could be used if we were at 1-1 at the time it could have been a match decider !!
