TheSomersetFox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 went to my first game under Adams with my dad (never got the chance to go to Filbert Street ). Won 1-0 with a Dickov screamer. Remember this bloke next to us shouting come on lesTOHHH every few minutes, we still reference it to this day. yeah you had to be there for that one
SpacedX Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 In the East Stand against Bristol City 1977, dreadful game Nil - Nil. As a very young kid idolised Wortho and hadn't a clue who anyone else was - although I remember Dennis Rofe shooting from the halfway line. Later learned that the substitution that day was Larry May making his debut. Unwittingly saw so many great City players in that team even though they played shite. No one could be bothered to take me down again until the Jock Wallace era....which meant at least Frank McLintock never happened.
Hollism Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Grimsby in 2003 - won 2-0 and my friend had a balloon hit his head Was he alright?
Jaspa Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Went to alot of Family Fun nights as a kid but all I remember from that is the smells of roast chestnuts and the burger/hotdog bar. First actual game I remember my Grandad won a couple of tickets on the radio for a home game against Southampton which we won 2-1 I think, sat in the second tier of the Kop. Got taken to plenty with my Uncle, Coventry away where Heskey won it 1-0 and both Wembley finals being the highlights, although covering under a table outside The Torch whilst busloads of Spurs fans lobbed beer bottles at us at the age of 7-8 wasnt that much fun though
FoxyJim1987 Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 My first away game was Spurs in the 94/95 season, lost 0-1 to a late Klinsmann volley. Remember chanting McGhees blue army for what seemed like hours, generaly being in awe of the surroundings (I sat in the supporters club corner at filbert street!) Lastly, remember a spurs fan noticing my glum face after the match telling me to cheer me up because my team had played well.
The Blur Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I can't remember my first match but my most vivid memory was watching Leicester drawing to Sheffield Wednesday at home in Adams era, Dickov or Deane equalised or it was an own goal but I was so delighted that I forgot I was holding chips when I threw my arms in the air to celebrate. If you got showered by chips that day, it was me! I also remember an occasion where a stranger ruffled my head after a goal and we celebrated together. The last memory, I and my dad was having a piss when Leicester scored against Plymouth shortly after kick off in the second half (we won 2-1 with Keith Gillepse being on the cover of the club magazine) and celebrating with one hand while holding our dicks with other.
ramboacdc Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I use to just watch the goalkeepers pace around the box. i spent a lot of my younger years doing this too. thought i was the only one until my daughter did it at her first game this weekend.
Hollism Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 My first game was on Jan 2nd, 1999. City 4-2 Birmingham in the FA Cup. The only time I ever went to Filbo and I wish I could remember more than being bored and playing with my Action Man Next game after that was beating Palace 1-0 in Feb 03, and Wimbledon 4-0 in the same month. That season was the first time I considered myself a Leicester fan. The parents aren't that into football so I was a late bloomer aged 8
Benguin Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 i spent a lot of my younger years doing this too. thought i was the only one until my daughter did it at her first game this weekend. Yeah did this around the age of 7 or 8. Still do it a lot now to be fair.
Mayofox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 This will age me, but the first match I was taken to was because Stanley Matthews was playing; Forest v Blackpool. I was 4, and my Dad wanted me to be able to say I'd seen SM playing. Apparently I was more interested in the trains you could see passing the ground. Other than that it was 1966 at Filbo v West Ham, 5-4, just after the World Cup win.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 The first game I went to was sat up high in the main stand (the old main stand) at Filbert Street. I was lucky..It was the afternoon Andy Peake scored his goal of the season against the mighty Liverpool. I was hooked....
Kevinparr71 Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 My first game Wolves away 1981 won 1-0 Jim Melrose open air toilets and very hostile home supporters to and from the train station
The Doctor Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I can't remember my first match but my most vivid memory was watching Leicester drawing to Sheffield Wednesday at home in Adams era, Dickov or Deane equalised or it was an own goal but I was so delighted that I forgot I was holding chips when I threw my arms in the air to celebrate. It was an own-goal and a spectacular one - long pass back to the keeper from the halfway line that the keeper let roll under his foot.
The Blur Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 It was an own-goal and a spectacular one - long pass back to the keeper from the halfway line that the keeper let roll under his foot. That is correct, I thought it came from a corner. http://www.sheffieldwednesday-mad.co.uk/rprt/mtch/leicester_city_1__sheff_wed_1_92858/index.shtml Nice memory you got there.

McLaren scored both ends in that 1-1 draw, it put me in mind of the 2-2 draw with Villa 1976 Chris Nichol scored all 4 and didn't get the match ball http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/aston_villa/175548/classic-moments-chris-nicholl-scores-all-four-goals-in-aston-villas-2-2-draw-with-leicester-city-1976.html

I still have the report in my very well filled Leicester scrap book of that era. The headline reads "Leicester Scalpel Cuts West Ham To Shreds" It would be great to see that headline repeated.
copunk Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Remember when I was 10, playing derby midweek in 99 I think, were drawing 1-1 think sturridge scored for them and Sinclair for us,then derby get a penalty, Keller saves it, I get my leg stuck down the back of the chair from celebrating, only to realise that by the time I had got my leg back out derby had scored from the resulting corner.... I never seen us win at filbo
Buzzell Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 First game I can remember was losing to Liverpool at Filbert Street with debutant, Patrick Berger, scoring a brace.
Kent Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Not sure I recall us losing 4-0 to Derby but we did lose 3-0 in 2002? Last season at Filbert St that.Cheers, just looked and that game was a month after my birthday so got to assume it was that game!
Vicki Vixen Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 The mid 90s. Iwan Roberts. Foxy Ladies. The "new" scoreboard on top of the family stand. McGhee leaving. O'Neill arriving. That Sheffield United game. Being too young to fully understand the tension in the Kop but going along for the ride. Stoke away. Millwall away. Gates of 20k for reserve games. Cigarette smoke everywhere. Standing on seats to watch the whole game, picking myself off the floor when we scored. Half time hog roast.
Livid Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Probably started going late 74 to early 75 when I was 5 or 6. Mum and Dad were both season ticket holders and prior to taking me used to leave me with grandparents. First game I actually remember was 2 all draw against Villa in 76 when Chris Nicholl scored all four!
Craig Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Not being able to see the other end when we played Blackburn in 1996. My first game. At least we scored down the Kop end. Marshall header I think. 1-1?
