I haven't seen this commented on, so...

quote from the article:

Leicester City has completed internal disciplinary proceedings against Danny Simpson after he was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

However, the club has not revealed what, if any, action it has taken against the 28-year-old right-back.

It said it could not disclose the outcome because the player is due to appeal against his conviction.

The Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed to the Leicester Mercury that the appeal hearing is scheduled to take place at Manchester's Crown Square Crown Court on Friday, December 4.

Simpson was convicted in May this year of assaulting Stephanie Ward, with whom he has a daughter, at her home in Greater Manchester.

He was ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work.

Upon conviction, the club announced Simpson would not be selected for first team football until further notice while it examined the circumstances of the case.

A spokesman said: "We have concluded a formal disciplinary process with Danny Simpson, the outcome of which will remain private to protect the integrity of any potential appeal process.

"There will be no further comment on the matter."

Police told that the trial at Manchester Magistrates' Court they arrived at Ms Ward's home following a 999 call in December last year and found the footballer straddling her with his hands around her throat.

Officers said she was "crying hysterically and cowering" in a corner.

After the trial, she issued a statement in which she said Simpson was a "kind, loving father" and had not assaulted her.

Simpson also said he was innocent and was shocked to have been found guilty of the offence.

Ms Ward said: "I am not a victim at all.

"Danny is a kind, loving father and despite our ups and downs he is a good person who I love and respect.

"We did get into a heated argument. I asked Danny to leave but he wouldn't, so I called the police.

"When they arrived Danny was not on top of me and he definitely did not throttle me.

"I gave an interview saying he did not assault me. My statement was dismissed at court. This verdict will put more strain on our family.

"I now have no faith in our police or justice system."

Polly Neate, chief executive of Women's Aid, a national organisation which supports domestic violence victims, criticised the community sentence which was handed to Simpson.

She said: "Men who abuse should feel the consequences of what they have done, even if they are a Premier League footballer.

"If sentences like this are routinely given out to perpetrators of domestic violence, the extremely serious nature of domestic violence is diluted and women are devalued yet again.

"This means that we will never see the culture change needed to make domestic violence history."

end quote.

Does Danny have a future with the Foxes?

Can this cvnt just piss off so we have room to purchase a right back who isn't a scumbag?

Echo what has been said. Any disciplinary action that isn't the sacking of that stupid cvnt is not good enough. We don't want him, we don't need him. He can rot.

u wot luv? Pretty sure the police report, which was multiple accounts, said he was on top of you, and was definitely throttling you.

Can I have confirmation that this happened right?

Well she hasn't given evidence to the courts, just gave a 'statement' to suggest the police / prosecution have got it wrong.

Seeing as his case is going to the crown court I suppose he'll be given a defence with his appeal iirc, so perhaps she'll give evidence in court then.

It's all a bit dodgy.

Not really, text book controlled/beaten 'wife' syndrome

Bet she tells people she walks into the door too

Once due process is over, I'm hoping the scum has nothing to do with my club

He MIGHT be innocent... he's a shit right back but the womsn aid comment really grates on me.

What's him being innocent got to do with it? Currently he's guilty and that's what the the sentence was given for. She's suggesting it's too lenient for someone found guilty.

That's an incredibly naive and scarily dangerous assumption to start making about people in these kinds of situations.

People deny beatings or being in abusive relationships for all kinds of psychological reasons or because people think they'll be judged and prejudging people's actions when they may be incredibly frail in those kind of things only perpetuates the culture which forces it.

I realise it's a different legal system, but here's a question for you.

Pistorius was sentenced for culpable homicide and on August 21st will leave prison after 6 months to be placed under house arrest, for his five year sentence.

The prosecution are appealing the sentence for it to be over turned for murder.

Given that people are basing their comments on the initial sentence handed out by the law in Danny Simpsons case being 100% true, can I correctly presume you place the same such faith in the pistorius case and feel culpable homicide was adequate?

More widely can I presume you feel that in Britain there is no need for an appeal and review system (when the person is going against the police's account) as the police are to be trusted 100% therefore regardless of the appeal Simpson is making he is a 'scumbag' based on the fact that he must have done it and Mrs ward must by lying and that he drives his Audi to fast?

Far bigger offender than Vardy. The police reporting him throttling her is surely evidence enough? If you trust them that is.

Get rid.
