Think it should be played after post horn and after the players shake hands to the prem music... Then it should be played right as the teams kicks off!! Don't think it'll ever happen tho

The reply to my email asking for it

"Thank you for your email to Leicester City Football Club. This is a debate that regularly occurs everywhere including the office here at King Power Stadium.

I will add your suggestion to the mix and make sure the relevant department is aware"

Sounds like nothing is going to happen

I was thinking this the other day watching a palace game. It really does get the atmosphere going when you have a song that everyone knows/can relate to sung.

Having said that we don't exactly need much help with the atmosphere at the minute!

Definitely should be! Fingers crossed they get round to doing it! Would work much better now, as our home atmosphere is 10x better than it used to be

To be honest, I emailed about the same thing quite a while ago now to the club, and my reply was the same. However, if we have both suggested this and other fans are on board and want this to happen, we have a chance of it being played at the ground.

No, because they'll end up using the Jersey Budd version.

I've never heard a version that matches the speed the fans sing it at, so it wouldn't really work.

Having said that, I guess anything is better than the cringeworthy Hey Jude.

I would love us to play When Your Smiling before or after Post Horn Gallop. Ideally a version which everyone can relate to and sing along to of course.

Can we not sign some sort of online petition (might sound too extreme) and send it to the club or something using the power of Foxestalk to get it sorted once and for all!?

One person sending an email to the club won't work, but if they see just how many people want it doing, they might just listen.

The thought of us having a unique song belting out across the ground don't half give me the horn.

Does anyone else remember this incident? It was 2001, and there was a great series on BBC about the history of jazz. It was a nine or ten part dcumentary by Ken Burns. The series became really popular (at least by BBC documentary standards). Right at the end of the series City hired a jazz band to play before the kick off at Filbert Street (the band may have just volunteered, I don't know).

The band played a few trad jazz numbers, and then just before kick off, 'When you're smiling' (Because originally Louis Armstrong had made the song famous in the 1930s, and Louis had been the real star of the TV series). I think the jazz band were imagining that the Leicester fans who always stood up and led the chants in the crazy corner  would be really impressed. I was standing in the front row of that corner and turned round to see a reaction of disinterest mixed with hostility. There was no-one singing along, but there were quite a few V signs and four letter words.

I think it would be better, as someone said above, if the song just started spontaneously.

There's things the club should do then there's things the fans should this is something that should be fan led. So surely this is  a task for UnionFS, but not to petition the club but to get everyone singing it pre-match perhaps even include a drum beat to slow it down.

Perhaps a future tifo could be centred around WYS

The only versions of WYS that I've heard played/ sung are far too slow and morose..why would we want to change what we have now just for the sake of trying to establish it as "our song?"

What we have now in the way of match build-up is absolutely fantastic..don't think we should change a thing or we may jinx it!

I even dreamt the owners wanted to try a game without the clappers and it was like a morgue plus we lost 3-0..Don't change anything please!!

Half agree in that I believe it should be sung but having trawled through some versions on You Tube there wasn't one that would really work.

The Jersey Budd version might bore the opposition to sleep. Perhaps Kasabian or some other local group can do one matched as closely as possible to our one?

Also, agreed on Hey Jude.

I agree in terms of we need a new version recording really.

The old ones are good but perhaps need a bit of tinkering (wehey) to be right for a pre-match song.

For example, as I said on another thread, a mixture of these two would be perfect:

Is anyone who's good with this sort of thing able to slow the Sinatra one down and upload it?

Basically everyone must tell the club not to use the Jersey Budd version.

Why do you need s version that matches the speed the fans sing it. We need a version that will slow the fans down, that's the whole point of playing a version over the tannoy.

We used to (early 1970's) sing it at the correct speed, so we can do it again.

Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin version will do.

This.

Should just get LSF going tho. They're our own too

This is a very good suggestion.
