Not an obsession or trying to stop people's opinions but this place has become a moaning site nothing can be posted on here without someone whinging and whining about something so trivial !!

And some say the marketing of #FEARLESS is pointless I think they've done ok as it's got people on here discussing the pros and cons and whinging about the # !!

;)

Ridiculous. It's like the "any publicity is good publicity" logic. So if we went and stuck a giant picture of Peppa Pig on the ground it'd be alright as long as it provoked discussion on here?

Essentially yes, you really don't understand marketing do you?

Micky, serious question, do you work for King Power or the club?

Neither. I just find it rich that folk on here knock what others are trying to do with the only arguement being its "cringey"..

Perhaps it's just the first step on the road to renaming the club Fearless F.C.? lol

I mean...I'm no Twitter genius myself, but it was always my impression that more successful hashtags either start organically from the users, or if they are corporately imposed or the result of some marketing strategy, if they are funny. This is neither.

Trying to "brand" a top-flight football club using a hashtag and an adjective plucked seemingly at random from the dictionary is the kind of laughable exercise that should only ever exist in a satirical comedy series about people who work in the advertising industry.

It's the kind of thing you could only think of if you are completely detached from the world of footballing culture, or indeed reality.

My hunches are that most of the people involved in this thing know deep down that it's a shit idea, but they'll probably plough on regardless, partly out of stubbornness and partly out of pride, until they realise that their dream of seeing the whole ground baying "fearless, fearless" at a bemused contingent of Norwich City fans whilst participating in a mass tweet-up at half time is not ever going to be realised.

The only upside to this whole farrago is that everything on social media is ephemeral, and most of it totally superficial, so it probably won't last that long.

Er, it really isn't. The main thrust of our combined argument is it doesn't work as a marketing tool.

Can grasp the concept, I just think if we were to do something along those lines for the sake of a bit more publicity we'd be rightly shot down by anyone with sense. Ridiculous hypothetical scenario anyway.

Shot down by who??? The general public, media, other fans?? I couldn't careless what any of those think about LCFC, and I really don't understand why it bothers so many on here.

If the idea was for people to tweet LCFC stuff under #FEARLESS, then it is a really stupid idea. As Simi shows, it is an incredibly overused mainstream hash tag with zero uniqueness or relevance to Leicester. Any tweets would just get lost amongst the thousands of others. #Foxesneverquit on the other hand. It really isn't rocket science. Argue it until your blue in the face, the club are misguided.

There are many principles/functions of marketing, recognition is one but there are many many others.

How do you know that are not gearing up for a "fearless campaign" how about we see what comes of it before labeling it shit, now there's a thought.

If they haven't started it yet, then why not?

You are defending it, but not addressing any of the points that people are making.

Why is the official @LCFC twitter account not using #fearless?

If they are planning any sort of campaign why haven't they started it yet? #Fearless was created months ago and yet hasn't been anything other than something to stick up around the ground. If there is going to be any sort of campaign why not start it at the start of the season, or with the twitter rebrand?

Do you think #fearless is a good hashtag?

If you look through this thread I have not criticised the flag, I thought it was a good idea, I've not criticised the use of a #, or the need for one, but #fearless has no association with the club, and is used in many other situations not related to this club. From a pure marketing point of view it is not being done very well at the moment, and a few people talking about it on a message board is no proof of success.

At least if people were discussing it on twitter the #fearless may start gaining traction, but as it is it is nothing and that is from a marketing standpoint. You can't just slap a hashtag on a flag and expect it to do anything.

So you would actually be happy to see us stick a picture of Peppa Pig on there if it causes a bit of a stir lol I think it's safe to say mine and your view on this differ significantly.

We don't need one, but some slogans can work out alright. However, you don't have to be Don Draper to realise #FEARLESS is shit. I haven't seen anyone use it seriously.

Ironically I would be too scared to use it on social media...

Because that's exactly what I said now isn't it..

Id say you are paranoid if you think peppa pig would cause a stir. It's a child's TV programme.

You really don't think putting Peppa Pig on City shirts or on a flag would cause a stir?

Some might confuse it with taking the micky out of the Chief Executive.

If Peppa pig paid to sponsor us, I would accept her money as readily as I would King Power's, if Peppa pig came out with Filbert and danced around in front of the family stand, I would have no problem with it, but I would suggest they have got their demographics wrong, as far as I can tell Peppa pig has a very Junior audience, if it was a minion or something though, I would still have no problem.

To be completely honest I don't really take in much other than the football, I couldn't tell you who Tottenham's sponsor was, despite it being all over the pitch on Saturday, I didn't notice a single advert on the big screen or around the pitch. If someone wants to pay a fortune to the club to do something I don't notice then I really don't care and I'm not going to be fussy over where the money comes from, with obvious exceptions on moral and ethical grounds.

It's a child's programme and an animal that makes funny noises. I don't eat foxes but Filbert doesn't offend me.

This, really.

We're not the only club out there that has some form of advertising, whether it be shirt sponsors, flags, sponsored corners / throw-ins, goals, etc. I'd say we're probably one of the luckier teams when it comes to doggo, obvious and offensive advertising.

The people that moan about it and run the whole 'laughing-stock' angle make it out to be a bigger issue than it is. By all means, remove all sponsorship from football, but be prepared to go back to small grounds, shit players, shit TV coverage and no money in the game. If you want to be that precious about advertising, that's the reality really.

Alternatively, you can ignore it and enjoy the quality of football on the pitch that advertising / sponsorship has provided.

Funny that MOTD showed the silly flag but didn't show the amazing TIFO the fans created against Sunderland.

In the words of Sky, the colours Union FS used 'are not good for television'. Perhaps the reason why.
