Countesthorpe Fox 1884 Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Bit of an odd one that, obviously he must of been out of the picture with the new coaches coming in
Jam Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Left for Assistant Coach hasn't he? Shame as he seemed very well liked by the players.
AmyLGK Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Left for Assistant Manager hasn't he? Shame as he seemed very well liked by the players. Oh ok well yes Ass Man is a step up...even at Derby. Sad to see him go though
Wymsey Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Thought he'll be here for a while. Derby seem a team that can't get promoted, despite their immense attempts.
blueonyou Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Oh OK so it's a promotion in the fact that he's going to be a Assitant First Team Coach, makes sense now, he's probably hit the ceiling here so it's natural progression for his asipriations to becoming a manager. Good luck pal
1963 Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 I have his son lays for one of the Derby youth teams
Jam Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Oh ok well yes Ass Man is a step up...even at Derby. Sad to see him go though Sorry I misheard on Talksport it's assistant coach...
AmyLGK Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Thought he'll be here for a while. Derby seem a team that can't get promoted, despite their immense attempts. Maybe now they will with King Kev helping them
Steven Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/kevin-phillips-leicester-coach-departs-to-join-derby-2695468.aspx Leicester City Football Club would like to extend its best wishes to Kevin Phillips, who has agreed to take up a new role as Assistant Coach with Derby County. The 42-year-old leaves the Foxes after a memorable time both as a player and coach since his arrival at King Power Stadium in January 2014. A former England international with a goal scoring pedigree to rival the very best, Phillips played for a total of 10 clubs throughout his long and successful career as a player, before accepting a coaching role with the Foxes upon his retirement in the summer of 2014. Perhaps best known for his goal scoring exploits with Sunderland, where he scored 30 goals in his debut Premier League season to earn him the European Golden Shoe, Phillips has recently been passing on that experience to Leicester City’s attackers in his capacity as First Team Coach and Striker Mentor. He has also contributed to the Foxes' cause on the pitch. After being signed by Nigel Pearson in January 2014, he set up David Nugent for a winner against Leeds United on his debut before becoming the Club’s oldest-ever goalscorer in a 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth. It was a game that gave City a record ninth consecutive league win en route to their 2013/14 Championship title victory – Phillips’ fifth promotion as a player. Phillips' influence and coaching expertise continued to prove vital on the Club’s return to the Premier League. This past summer, Kevin was central to the coaching setup that aided a successful managerial transition, ensuring the squad’s preparation for the 2015/16 campaign was successfully managed through the early stages of pre season. Everyone at the Club would like to thank Kevin for his fine contribution as a Leicester City coach and player over three seasons and wish him the very best in the future.
AmyLGK Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Sorry I misheard on Talksport it's assistant coach... Honestly - I don't even know the difference anymore...managers, coaches, directors of football...
Brainy Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Assistant is better than being coach right? Doesn't he have managerial plans too? Makes sense.
Nick Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Good move for him. Sad to see him go but it's a decent promotion.
Jon the Hat Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 If they have a head coach, then being his assistant is obviously a step up. Fair play to him, he has done well for us I think.
lgfualol Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Dont blame him for going for a better role. I hope we get someone good to replace him.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Best of luck to him at Derby, an assistant coaching role will probably help him progress further to become a manager if that is his ambition.
foxfanazer Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Good luck to him. Sure we can replace him fairly easily though
ousefox Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Yep I can understand that. Good luck to him.
Ozwin Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Hope this isn't the start of some sort of staff exodus. Good luck to him, obviously played a part in the current successes so can't begrudge him too much.
