Leicester City are reportedly rivalling fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Sunderland for the signature of Croatian international goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.

The 6ft 7in stopper is valued at £2.7m and, according to the Daily Mail, is wanted by City to increase competition for first-choice goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Kalinic plays his club football for Hajduk Split, currently third in the Croatian top flight, and has kept 12 clean sheets in 20 league games so far this campaign.

The 25-year-old has also played in the Europa League this season and has two caps for his country, featuring in friendlies against Argentina and Russia, playing alongside current City striker Andrej Kramaric in the second of these.

Very much doubt he'll come here.

He will have seen what's happened to Kram and he'll know he won't be first choice and he's in the international side and will likely want 1st team football.

Hope I'm wrong.

He'd learn a lot if he came to us....

Please God no.

A talented keeper but very fond of blunders. Loves to show off his saves, but will concede a goal like a sunday league keeper. We call him "The first post" as he never closes it down.

Much worse then Kasper. I'll take Hamer over him any day as well.

I wonder if Kramaric has put a good word in.

Probably put in a good word saying if he wanted getting paid well to do **** all then Leicester is the place to come.

I can still remember the hype about Kalac ....then seeing it all disappear with his first appearance and the mess he made of what should have been a simple save at the near post.

But then I'm also old enough to have been at that 8-4 win at home against Manchester City which was highlighted in tonight's programme and the Mercury. Haha the mud was so deep in some of the goalmouths,  a slim bloke like Vardy might have been lost without trace!
