Spurs (H) FA cup 3rd round replay 0-2 post match

If I ever have to be subjected to watching that lump of shit Ulloa again I will scream.....he's ****ing abysmal.

As for the game it was a complete none event, Spurs put a strong side out to win the game, I'm not entirely sure what our aim was? They weren't superior but did enough to win the game.

The first goal was criminal though, you can't stand off and allow a player that much time to pick his spot, second was pretty straight forward for them. Ultimately we made it easy for them, but it does highlight the necessity for a new attack minded player, be it a "number 10" or an out and out striker, we won't finish in the top four if we don't invest in one.

I get the feeling Ranieri doesn't rate the squad as much as we do. It might explain the change in mentality all of a sudden.

You also said it after Liverpool and Bournemouth. It's your thing. It's avoiding the problem!!!

I am not avoiding anything Im being a realist, not a kneejerking deluded fool. Blips are bound to happen and in the scheme of things ours has been minimal

Comparing our squad depth and quality to the usual big players we're doing fookin brilliant.

There's a massive difference between discussion points ,analysis and end of days overreaction from some quarters!

We are season 2 after a great escape and building, it's amazing yes but please adopt some reality and perspective.

I think you'll find it's been my reaction to the over reaction to the last 2 games!

Any fan of our club that isn't realistic that a blip of some description wasn't coming is patently deluded.

The reactions to the inevitable is the crazy thing not my calm down and don't kneejerk!

The player and game management in the his difficult period is actually very good we've not lost games and a couple could have been very different!

We are still in a massively strong position with just the league to focus on!

I say take a reality check and stop acting like petulant children with sbsolutely no sense of perspective.

This will only wash for so long. It's not so much where we are in the table, it's how we are now playing.

We need to improve at home on Saturday against a very good Stoke side. One win in 7 now isn't good.

That's the point people are making I think.

As unhappy as I am at losing what piss ed me off the most was the awful BBC coverage.

I don't want to see the crowd, the managers, players on the bench, replays etc whilst the game is got on.

First game I've been able to go to since the burton fa cup game 2013 and just terrible.

Positives are that chilwell looked quality, naiveity for the first goal aside, grey was a constant spark of invention and benalouane looks classy as ****.

Negatives - 4-5-1 still doesn't work and Claudio really needs to give up on it already, ulloa - I'd say he might as well not have played, but that would actually have been better than his performance, dyer was just that, no interest or effort, midfield didn't impose themselves, and the crayon eater got up from that Wasyl tackle.

I used to think that but if we want to be looking for European football this season or next then he's not good enough for this level. He offers very little but pace, it's all very well pulling two defenders to you, if you can't pass or shoot accurately then they'll probably clean up. He's certainly not a defender, he'll never be a striker and we have a few wide players who are far more effective.

I'd be playing a fit Schlupp over Albrighton at the moment. He's more dangerous coming forward.

Things we learnt tonight:

Spurs reserve team is better than ours.

Ulloa does not deserve to be playing for us right now.

Dyer cannot stay on his feet for more than a few seconds.

Gray is turning out to be an absolute bargain.

WE NEED TO BUY A STRIKER NOW.

Sell sell sell sell!! As a defender your taught to usher a player wide- it was just a quality finish. If your saying he should have done better so should Kasper

They did seem to get lots of space down Chilwell's side tonight though!

I might as well be honest, I thought tonight was an absolute disgrace.

It wasn't that we played a weaker team. It was that we played a team that simply couldn't win. Ulloa up front on his own was utterly pitiful. I wouldn't even pick Ulloa up front on his own for a Sunday league side. Absolutely no chance of scoring a goal whatsoever. At home ass well. Ugh.

At half time we brought Okazaki on but even then, we took Drinkwater off and left King and Inler on, who are not only vastly inferior to Drinkwater, but also put in no effort at all tonight. In fact, other than the defence, only Gray and maybe Drinky put in a shift out of the players that started. So that's 4 outfield players not putting in the effort. No commitment in tackles, few yards covered I expect, not jumping for headers. And sickeningly these were all fringe players who should be fighting for a first team spot. I'd say 3 of those 4 could leave the club tomorrow and I wouldn't be disappointed one bit.

I'm tired of the 'it's only the FA Cup' rubbish so I'm just going to give up on it. Tonight's match was treated as a friendly despite a very large crowd. So I won't be going to another FA Cup game. Ever. And before people say 'I'm sure you'll be first in line for the final' - well I hate to break it to you, but we will never, ever reach a final if we continue to approach the competition like we did tonight. Like we did last year at Villa. Like we did against Huddersfield a few seasons ago. It's the most realistic chance of us winning a massive trophy and we just don't care. So I won't next season either.

I mean, we were battered tonight. Barely got out of our own half in the first half. There was just no interest in winning the game at all until we were already getting played off the park and beaten easily. And then still: We're 2-0 down. Going out with a whimper. Bring the big boys on immediately you'd think. Save some pride. Give ourselves a chance. Nah, let's piss around for 10 minutes, then bring Vardy on, almost as a half-hearted gesture. Leave Mahrez on the bench. Well bothered.

And Tottenham will now go to Colchester with a great chance of getting to the 5th round. And who knows where they'll end up after that. We were beaten by a far worse Villa side last season and they reached the final.

The shining lights were clearly Gray & Chilwell. No exaggeration to say they looked a class above the rest of our players tonight, but since they've made a total of about 6 first team appearances maybe some of those others should take a look in the mirror. But nah it's the cup so they'll get away with it.

With the season we've had there's no reason we couldn't have given the cup a real go, but obviously we really, really didn't want to go through.

I assume this means we'll be in the Champions League next season? #concentrateontheleague

Same old same old our reserves lose a game and it's doom and gloom on here. We were always going to struggle our reserves and squad depth alone is a fraction of the cost of Spuds they started more players who have been in their first team than us.

Positives Chilwell looks promising. Gray was ok but not outstanding as some seem to think. Always was going to his right side Walker knew which way he was going. Every time. That said, he showed glimpses but he does need to bulk up a bit.

Ulloa and Dyer were both poor, worryingly Drinkwater was blowing out of his arse at the end of the first half and looked knackered. King wtf did he do? Did his invisible act again. Benaloune and Inler were ok. Wasilewski man of the match for that challenge on Kane second half where he took him out. lol.

Not bothered we are out of the cup at least we now have a free weekend before the Liverpool game time to rest a few

I agree we do need a new striker cos if Vardy gets injured for the second half of the season we may be up shit creek if we do not get another in. Ulloa looks as though he was running in treacle he can't play the lone striker role. I have faith in Claudio though and I am sure we will get one before the transfer window is up.

Stoke on Saturday we go again with the first team.

For those really watching, this is true. The space down our left side was huge. And they exploited it. Chilwell is one for the future. Fuchs is different gravy.

This season the league is our priority and maybe Claudio has managed the players tonight to focus on this...but.... Ffs one up front didn't work last week and same again this week. Second string is ok but it's the cup so at least have a go. The new kid from brum motm for me

How sad to see this great Tradition go this way!

It's now a reserve team cup competition!

We had no ambition to go out and win this game tonight.

But we're not alone in this way of thinking.

Very sad!

Obviously we need to give Mahrez and Vardy the time to find form because the potential gains are so great, but the same doesn't have to go for Ulloa and Dyer. Or Albrighton for that matter.

My concern is the lack of cover up front. Three strikers even for one position is on the low side, and I'm worried that this is an indication that Ranieri plans to impose a 4-5-1 as often as not. The signs that we can play the system effectively aren't good. Obviously we've never seen a new manager enjoy quite such a honeymoon (it's a little harsh to call it that, but remember we were 4th in early March in Taylor's first season), nonetheless I think he may need to rethink some of the conclusion he appears to have come to over the past few weeks.

Whatever the result on Saturday, it's important that we show attacking intent - even if it's snuffed out - and that we look beyond Albrighton and Dyer on the flanks, beyond Ulloa as our sub forward. If that means dipping into the market (and if we want to finish top four, I'm sure it will) then so be it. I can't help but think that a top four finish will depend hugely on 4-4-2 for us, in which case Kramaric's loan has to mean someone coming in the opposite direction, almost as a matter of urgency.

Tbf Kitch, you think that after a good win.

Posted

I'm really concerned, if I'm being totally honest.

We've had a fantastic season, but I'm seriously beginning to think we're about to undo it all through sheer negativity.

The line-up was awful. Resting players is another argument, we knew it was going to happen, but Ulloa in a 4-5-1? We wouldn't have scored if we were still playing now. I'm not trying to put it all on Ulloa like I've seen so many on Twitter do, because the biggest concern for me was the system. Where exactly was the goal threat? We brought Okazaki & Vardy on but it's a totally different proposition when you're facing a Spurs side who are 0-1 up. We've got to start pressing teams again, and start attacking them.

We needed to be careful throughout this run of games, but we haven't been playing well have we really. We were awful at Villa, awful at home to Bournemouth, awful tonight, awful at Liverpool, even away at Spurs in the league, for all it was a terrific result, it was smash and grab.

Maybe too early to say the bubble has burst, but we will tumble down the table if we don't rediscover our attacking mentality, because we, like the others around the top, will drop points in the games we expect to win.

In fairness, we did play a weakened team tonight, a weakened team against a Spurs side that contained Chadli, Lamela, Eriksen, Son & even brought on Kane, but I'm just not impressed with the way we're going about it at the minute. We've lost our edge that gave us a fighting chance in games like tonight.

To end on a positive... I thought the two down the left played well again. Gray was tricky although did often lack an end product, Chilwell was our best player by a distance, and I can't decide if that worries me or excites me.

Pretty annoyed that I have spent the best part of 2 hours freezing my spuds off watching a game we were never interested in winning.  If I had known what the line ups were going to be before leaving the house, I wouldn't have bothered.  It was only ever going to be a loss.

I'm not sure that Chilwell played as well as some have said.  He's young & it showed.  Better going forward than defending.  He's a prospect but that is all at this stage.

Gray was our best player.  The only player that could put his foot on the ball & actually drive forward.  What we learnt about Gray & Chilwell is the only positive to take from the game.

Agree with most about Dyer.  I understand now why Swansea got rid.

Claudio had no interest in winning tonight.  I think if he had been given the option, he would have forfeited the game.  I just wish I had known beforehand.

Fully agree with Kitchandro and Dan. I'm very concerned.

Negative tactics breeds fewer goals. Fewer goals means you win less games.

Can somebody tell me the last time we set up positively and attacked from kick off? Press and set the tempo in the first 20 minutes. Snatch a goal and then draw the opposition out to counter them. That was how 2015 worked.

It's gone tits up since Claudio started trying to get to half time at 0-0.

Let's be honest as others have mentioned prior to Claudio coming in we never took the cup seriously under Pearson either.
