tickler28 Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 I was saying before half time why oh why play defensive and only have Ulloa up top with the wingers (one on bad form and the other just out of nappies) miles away and to be honest to lightweight to be able to take on the Tottenham defence. We wasted half a match playing such negative pointless tactics that by the time we attempted to go forward it was to late and we loomed exposed on the counter attack. Bottom line is we showed our lack of class and Spurs showed their class. I worry about our tactics at the moment and our game plan seems very 1 dimensional....I hope Ranieri has a plan how to change things because at present we look like the Leicester of old and a shadow of the team from 2015. I think we would be crazy not to get a striker in...though thus window is probably not the best time for that. Keeping the faith but I hope Ranieri isn't thinking oh well on to the next match and speaking with the players reviewing the videos with his players and coaching staff and looking at ways to get us playing better football again
The Guvnor Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Who would you have played instead of Ulloa? Kramaric isn't here anymore and was never going to get a game anyway. We were resting Vardy and Mahrez. Okazaki harried a bit but never had a shot on goal. All this scapegoating is a bit crap tbh. With regards to tonight Gray and Dyer played too deep leaving Ulloa too isolated up front, and he definitely plays better with support. What is dissapointing with Ulloa is he seems to lose most 50 50 headers,I thought that was his forte, he also appears to fall over a lot from soft physical challenges.
Webbo Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Thing is my grans been dead for a decade this summer and she still would have had a better first touch than him. First all came from him wasting a chance to get rid by pretending to to be a concrete block, then spent the rest of the game hiding from the ball except when he fancied doing a steve Howard impression (miss control, lose ball, foul). I cannot see any way Kramaric can have been worse in training short of turning up pissed and mooching in the corner with a six pack of tennants super. If we'd lined up with 10 we'd have still been better going forward I'm not saying he had a great game but if you're resting your first teamers you're going to have to pick a second string player. None of the youth team strikers have pulled up any trees this season, it's a silly argument.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Never thought I'd be writing this, but we need Schluppy back! OF course we need Schlupp back. It's no coincidence that possibly the most under-rated player on the forum being out injured has coincided with us looking more toothless going forward. I must have said this at least twenty times. His bursting runs need tracking, which frees up space for other players to exploit.

They've not pulled up trees but they've at least been able to do the basics, which he hasn't done since may.

Schlupp was out of the team for a while before he got injured, in which time we went away to Newcastle and Swansea and scored 3 (and could have had about 7) in each of those. What we do miss is the option his directness gives us - nobody else in our squad is big and fast at the moment and with Vardy running on fumes we look very stale.
fuchsntf Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Because that logic is faltered, if he didn't give a shit, he would have asked his players to go out and enjoy themselves and play with freedom, instead he knew his B team were well weaker the spurs and wanted to negotiate the gme with a defensive approach and hoped it would be nil nil until the last 15 mins and then look tonbench....but his plan failed and us fans were bored to death and annoyed with tactics that made us look shituhum, I was available, he could have played me I have to agree, maybe just how I feel at the moment. To be honest, Idid expect a bit more gung-ho from the midfield especially in the 2nd half. Its not the loss, but the approach was wrong. Dyer and Gray should have been storming down the flanks, even if they got tackled sometimes. I do expect a response from the 1st teamers on Saturday. At present one sees that Kante is the guy who keeps it turning. A nice break on the wkend 30th, should help with the 16 game run in.
st albans fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Well it's quiet obvious he didn't sent the boys out to get us on the scoresheet in first half. This has become our tactic of choice. Keep it as tight as possible for the first period. Play the game in the second half when the opposition begin to tire.
MattyGamble Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Wanting to go in at 0-0 is a risky strategy with a team that loves to counter. We should be aiming to nick the early goal and then the opposition opens up as the game goes on. Then again, I think we are overreacting. We can still finish top 4. Believe

Play the game in the second half when the opposition begin to tire. Didn't seem to be the case against Villa... we bought De Laet on in what could have only been a move to defend a 1 nil lead

My issue with this is he took our home fans out of the game by not giving them anything to get excited about while also giving Spurs a lot to make a worried about.
Donut Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 All these "chilwell was quality posts"........ **** me for the Son goal he didnt get anywhere near him, he didnt close down, he didnt try and stop a shot, he literally did nothing. Terrible defending.
Dr The Singh Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 I really still wanted to be in the FAcup, it gave fringe players key game time, should they be needed to play for us in league games. Plus its about momentum and feel good factor, the loss has now lut pressure on us for the Stoke game

yorkie1999 Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 I think one of the most disappointing things about today was the lack of support. We made the most noise when Vardy came on. I tried to start some chants in the Kop and people looked at me like I shouldn't be singing. Loudest ovation was when Vardy came on. Sometimes I wonder if people support Leicester or Vardy.Cup game, lot of people not normally there, plus the football was shit and everyone could see it was, fans cheer and get excited with attacking fast football, not defending. Defending is boring and should be banned.

Terrible defending.I agree, however he looked good going forward, he was very positive in his approach, where Simpson although solid rarely added to our attack. This kid is a good prospect, he is not quite ready, but given time, when he has hair on his chest he may turn out to be a very good player
Sunbury Fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Wasn't our reserves v their reserves. It was half their first team v our reserves. In defence they started with both first choice full backs plus Dier, who's played all season as a defensive midfielder. In midfield they played Lamela and Eriksen, both first choice players. Ranieri by contrast planned to change 9 out of 10 of our outfield players. It became 8 because of RDL's injury but the point still holds true. He went too far with the changes a In addition, the tactics were ridiculously negative. Last season we stayed up because we were positive and went at teams from the start. We started off doing that this season but more and more that is changing. That's 3 home games without a goal now. The dreaded 451 yet again failed - has it ever worked for us? It's all very well to say we can now focus on the league. But if we end up 8th, we'll all look back on this as a big chance missed. We should have played a stronger team and been more positive. Ranieri has to take full responsibility for this defeat.
johnny the fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Pooh That is all Your sage like insight and well judged perception has no peer on this forum...I am open mouthed with admiration...

Terrible defending. Gotta agree. He's a kid so will get better. But I'd have him nowhere near the first team at present. How people see games and performances so differently always baffles me. Son had all the time to bring the ball down, pick his spot and slam it home. I tell you something, if that has been Schlupp (or even worse. ...Konchesky...) this forum would have mullered them for that moment.

I wonder if schlupps invited to his wedding with Cattermole being the best man ofcourse

Course it's not the sole reason..but we do miss his bursting runs forward. He's under-rated. Always has been.
NewEnglandFox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 I think you'll find it's been my reaction to the over reaction to the last 2 games! Any fan of our club that isn't realistic that a blip of some description wasn't coming is patently deluded. The reactions to the inevitable is the crazy thing not my calm down and don't kneejerk! The player and game management in the his difficult period is actually very good we've not lost games and a couple could have been very different! We are still in a massively strong position with just the league to focus on! I say take a reality check and stop acting like petulant children with sbsolutely no sense of perspective. You also said it after Liverpool and Bournemouth. It's your thing. It's avoiding the problem!!!
