Dwight Gayle

That makes sense, Kareem. He's probably a bit small and light to play lone front man in a 4-2-3-1 for a team, like Palace, who play on the break a lot. Plus, he's not likely to get selected to play wide ahead of Bolassie, Zaha or Puncheon.

4-4-2 would suit him much better, I reckon.

I knew he'd been at Posh but not much else. Just had a look and his trajectory is very similar to Vardy: Arsenal Youth but released->Stansted (didn't even know they had a team!)->Bishop's Stortford->Dag&Red->Posh->Palace.

Looks and sounds like our sort of player and only 26, so still has potential to develop. His career trajectory suggests he has a good attitude, too.

I'm sure there are better options, but if they're not available to us, I wouldn't be disappointed to get this bloke - and agree with Babylon that we do need another striker. What if Vardy or Shinji break a leg next week? We'd be kicking ourselves forever if we missed out on Champions League football due to an avoidable lack of strikers in the last few games.

Agree 100%. He might not be the ideal signing but he's not as bad as people make him out to be.

He's not bad but he's not great, we're top of the Premier League at fvcking February. Break the bank for Musa, we'll never ever be in this position again.

I can see Gayle being higher on the wanted list than Remy in our current position and wouldn't be totally against it as a Vardy backup. Think we need to fill that Ulloa/Okazaki role more so though, someone with out and out quality in the air and on the ground. Obviously easier said than done but at this stage you have to think that if we're after anyone or even close to it they must be in the latter stages of discussions by now.

Unless we've got someone in the wings already, and we're just holding out for dat Deadline Day coverage, making us look MASSIVE when we sign someone for £23M come 10.55pm.

Is Musa great though?

Lets face it, whoever we sign is going to play second fiddle to Vardy, and if he gets injured, the new striker is always going to be compared to him.

I'm confused, wouldn't he partner Vardy?

Imagine if, after all the rumours and excitement this window, we ended up signing Dwight Gayle from the Crystal Palace substitutes bench  lol

Thankfully it sounds like this wont be happening. I'm sure we'll get someone better (or at least more obscure so we can fantasize about their 'potential' for a bit)
