filbertway Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Wouldn't be massively upset if we signed him, in the Jamie Vardy mould. Wouldn't want to pay much more than 4/5 million for him though as he'd come in as back up for Vardy.
dylanlegend Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 I think he'd suit our style of play pretty well actually. We're not going to get an Aboubakar or Milik in January so this is a pretty good option. He'll be coming as 3rd/4th striker so wouldn't upset the apple cart too much either.
Bamba's Babes Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Last summer - yes Chasing the league title - no
Guest ttfn Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Not what we need. Remy is miles better. What position do you think Remy is going to play if we sign him? He's not a target man, he doesn't link the play as a number 10 and he's not a winger either. Remy's position is very similar to Vardy's. Vardy is the heart and soul of this team - the only way he's getting in the first XI is if he adapts his game to do something more than playing on the shoulder because we won't get away with 2 strikers doing this. We either need a player to link midfield and attack or a decent target man. I'd also like us to sign somebody who can step in and do Vardy's job if Vardy gets injured again, and yes, Remy is better than Gayle. But is Remy going to come here and sit on the bench? Gayle can do a job if called upon but will happily wait for his chance. Not sure Remy would with a home Euros in the summer.
J.Lisemore Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 A striker that Bristol City were close to signing... Championship relegation threatened Bristol City.
Guest ttfn Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 A striker that Bristol City were close to signing... Championship relegation threatened Bristol City. Maybe they wouldn't be relegation threatened if they actually signed him? He'd be our 3rd or 4th choice striker. I don't understand why people can't get their heads around the fact that you can't have 22 players of exactly the same quality - you need players who will sit on the bench and not kick up a fuss and then do ok when called upon.
suffolk fox Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Hope this isn't true. This, smacks of desperation to me. Why, would we want a Peterborough reject? Couldn't score at Palace let's pray its just paper talk.

Surely we should be buying someone so that Okazaki and Ulloa are the ones on the bench? You should always be looking to improve your starting 11. We've got plenty of players to sit on our bench. I can sit on our bench FFS. Buying a 3rd or 4th choice striker when we've been talking about the fact we need someone to partner Vardy for ages would be absolutely retarded.

Surely we would only sign players that actually improve the squad? Bristol City already have a decent striker in Kodjia, but their defence is terrible. Dwight Gayle is nowhere near good enough to be in a top 4 squad.

We've been trying to buy somebody else to partner Vardy. You're in the Transfer Talk section, you must realise that? Sometimes it's not possible though. This is a different option - somebody to give us the same attributes (albeit at a lower level than Vardy) that allow us to play our best football. No coincidence that our poorest football this season has been with an unfit Vardy. I can't imagine we're trying to sign Gayle to be in our first team as a regular player. I'd expect that we're looking to sign somebody else as well, but this is probably a more achievable deal.

Bristol City already have a decent striker in Kodjia, but their defence is terrible. Dwight Gayle is nowhere near good enough to be in a top 4 squad. At the moment we have three senior strikers. We play 2 up front almost every week. One of them is dreadfully out of form and another has been running on fumes for 2 months. How does this not strengthen the squad?
Foxy_jim Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 I love it how some website or two lines in a paper lead everyone to think its true. I sincerely doubt we have gone from Musa to Niang to Remy to Dwight cnuting Gayle. Just wait and see who we sign.
sphericalfox Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 No interest in him. Why do you keep posting as though you are in the know or are your posts merely your opinions/guesswork? It's getting more than irritating if the latter.
Fuch Me Moore Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Would fit in quite nicely. Might not be as technically gifted as some other strikers we have been linked to but has the abilities that play to our strengths. Think he could easily score 5-8 goals in the last 15 games

lgfualol Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 This would be the type of signing we could have made last January when we were fighting relegation.
Claudio Fannieri Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Perfect type of striker to bring in to take some of the burden off Jamie Vardy, his record is very good 1 in 2 throughout his career and 1 in 3 with Palace, that is pretty good going, plus fits nicely with the current dynamic of the squad. Would be a sensible addition, whilst nowhere near as glamourous as some of the "rumours" but invariably these have turned out to be our more successful type of signings, if he can chip in with 5/6 goals could be crucial.
dorsetboy Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 not sure about this for a few reasons were top of the league and fingers crossed going to make europe we should be looking at building for that yes even now by improving the players we have been buying are young players who we seem to be able to profit on with improvement over time mahrez, vardy, kante, amertey, gray and this would not fit into that ethos you could maybe understand if we were buying a quality player for big money but dwight gayle no thanks
Babylon Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Clearly not first choice, clearly we'd rather have better... But I'd rather have him than no fourth choice striker.
Fox seen in Norwich Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 If Vardy injured or suspended then we need a pacey striker to run behind. Gay le does that and has proven record to be able to score at this level so will do in my opinion. Not long term fit but will do as back up till at least summer
Richmondfox Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Championship level striker a best. We don't need squad filler, we've just loaned out one so not need him replace by Gayle. Nothing in his stats and what I've seen of his ability suggest he will score 5 - 8 in 15 games here. No goals or assists this season in 7, last season 5 in 25 games. We need a forward who is better than what we have, we need a forward who is better than Vardy but this isn't the window for that. I don't get the trust the scouts argument with regard to him. He's been in the prem as a player longer than our squad but hasn't improved. It's not as if he's a hidden talent going under the radar, he was potential who showed he could score at Posh, big move to the prem but hasn't raised his game as he isn't good enough.
Steven Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Eder - Musa - Remy - Gayle - Bamford ???? Worse? Where does it end !? Tom Hopper scored (should I use that word ) for Scunthorpe yesterday.
kingfox Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Surely we aren't this desperate to sign a striker, the guy is a diving mardy arse.
