Worse case scenario.. 5th /6th.. How disappointed would you be?

Would be a little disappointed and maybe concerned, but mostly because that means we would have been very dire for the last half of the season. The direction you're heading is generally more important than the position you're in.

Remarkable though it is to say, I'll be really disappointed now if we don't get Champs League. We are so close you can almost hear that signature tune lurking in the background.

Look, it's only because I get picked up on the odd minor spelling mistake, and I mean nothing by it, because as it happens this is a popular misapprehension. The term is actually 'worst-case scenario', not 'worse-case scenario', although it may be possible by way of emphasis to have a 'worse than worst-case scenario' to make the point really strongly, but of course technically one shouldn't really do that.

Of course we all know what you mean, and I only mention it by way of advice.

lol

Wtf!

As long as we qualify for Europe I will be happy.

It is (unlikely but) possible that 6th wouldn't get a European spot.

The prospect of playing in the a Champions League still seems too good to be true.

Is there a b Champions League then?

:P

What happens if Chelsea win the champions league? Guessing the places will only go down to 3rd, would just be our luck that.

I think I read somewhere that a maximum of 5 teams from each domestic league can qualify.  So don't know if the top 4 + Chelsea would still qualify or not.

However if Chelsea win the champions league and Liverpool win the Europa league, then definitely it would just be top 3 would qualify.  That would just be our luck!!

Was part three of the 2012-13 season in the Championship whereby we totally blew our healthy top of the league placing with that horror run of no win in 17?? I sense that only an unwanted repeat of that run or something similar to it would see us 'fall' to 5th/6th place come May time now - as unbelievable a stat as that would have sounded at the beginning of the season, all things considered - and indeed in relation to the club over most of the last 15 years since O'Neill departed! Extremely heady times, the best we've ever known to date!!

Wow, amazed the amount of people who think we can still loan players.  Why do you think deadline day is such a big deal?!

Because Sky milk it and because clubs are dis-organised.

As for the thread... now I'd pretty sick to finish 5th. Europe would be memorable for sure but when you get this far, you want the lot. I am convinced we could watch football for another 50 years and not see Leicester City get a better chance of becoming champions of England than this. I can't believe that England's big boys will continue being below par, especially not this many at once.

It would be very hard to take and disappointing, but lets put the positive energy out there.. its not gonna be happening, there is too much fight and spirit for us to collapse, the skill level is not important, the spirit we have stops a total collapse, thats for teams like Arsenal with zero leaders and boys in the team.

Seems crazy but a 5th /6th place finish would be nothing more than a collapse in form from here!

Not saying this will happen but even IF it did a top 6 finish is still amazing!

What an unbelievable situation!

My concern if this happened (in fact a bit of a concern wherever we finish)... what happens for the following season.

I can only imagine we'd end up in a situation of raised expectations, but with no real guarantee of repeating what we've done, especially if we're in the unknown position of having to travel all across Europe on a Thursday followed by a league game on Sunday.

Given that for the above to happen (5th/6th place finish) we'd have gone through a patch of indifferent form, It would only take an iffy start to next season to compound the feeling and put us in the grips of a difficult confidence sapping spiral.

So the only real antidote to all of this is for us to keep winning... The title this year, followed by a league / FA Cup / Champions League treble the following year... Then I wouldn't give a shit about the year after that because I would have seen us do it all in my lifetime!

I'd be disappointed. Not in a blaming the team way but in a damn so close kind of way.

Table over the last 38 games. We've got it in us, it's already demonstrated.

What loan market? We can't loan anyone! This isn't the championship, the window is firmly shut for us

I'm not too sure but I don't think a loan player is allowed in the Premiership now the Jan window is closed? Can anyone confirm the rules?

True.Loans period for PL is over.

except..Emergency loan. We could loan out a GK for 7 days. No outfield players.

14 games left.

Ten pts from 5th

lose next 2 games.

Still 4pts or more from 5th.

only 1pt max behind 2nd +3rd.

We are then still in the mix, with top 6 teams playing each other

with city finished with Man.city/Arsenal/ spurs, no facing up with 12 games to go.

W.Ham (h)..Man.utd (a) top 6 games left.

It could well happen that we really collapse.

I dont look that far. Man.city/a.n.other next is the...'one game at a time' scenario I follow.

At present I havent changed since last Man.city game. Disappointed if we drop out of top 6.

Top 4/title still dreams.

RE-asses after 1st game in March. 12pts to play for.

Id be absolutely devestated to finish below 2nd in all honesty. Yes people will say 'we're only Leicester we were expected to go down etc anything is a bonus etc'. But, weve put ourselves in a fabulous position now due to hard work and quality (not luck) so despite the fact we are 'plucky little Leicester' we should still be disappointed if we throw this away

Posted

I would be pretty miffed TBH god only knows what it would do to the team how deflated they would feel after sitting top fr so long, I doubt we could hang on to Mahrez, the Media would jump all over us would be horrible

Posted

I'd be actually gutted.

Anything less than top-four now would be unbearably anti-climatic, because to have reached that position we would have had to have had such a collapse in form, that the gloss would be taken off everything we've done so far. Can you not imagine how smug the pundits would be?

But I don't believe that will happen; I honestly believe we can do this, have done since we won away at Spurs.

Whatever happens in the next two games, we'll still be right in the mix, and in our remaining games we face sides that - with the exception of Man Utd and Southampton, against which we drew - we beat in the reverse fixture.

If we can replicate those results, we will finish on 82 pts, and that's assuming we get nothing from Man City or Arsenal. If we can replicate those results, the title will be ours.

After years of putting up with peoples ridicule, anything less that second place would be a disappointment. I'd still be happy with anything above 5th. It would still be a great season...but disappointed nonetheless.

Is there really a difference between 2nd and 3rd though (aside from pride, some prestige, and, practically speaking, prize money)? :D

At this point, I'd be a bit disappointed if we finished 4th and didn't automatically qualify for the group stage of CL.
