weller54 Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Seems crazy but a 5th /6th place finish would be nothing more than a collapse in form from here! Not saying this will happen but even IF it did a top 6 finish is still amazing! What an unbelievable situation!
UPinCarolina Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 I think it would be pretty hard to swallow. That's a collapse in form at the worst possible moment. If we had some key injuries or extenuating circumstances, it's bearable...but still would leave me gutted.
Fox92 Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Being top for so long and not winning it would be a bit disappointing but I don't think any Leicester fan can be disappointed with 5th or 6th in the top flight. 1st, 2nd or 3rd place would be wonderful though. At least we'd get some acknowledgement then. IE look back in years to come and say we finished 3rd that year, or whatever.
Finnaldo Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Think we'd need to take turns monitoring scouse tbh
Nick Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 It will likely happen if Vardy gets injured. I still say we should be getting in somebody on loan - be a shame to lose the title or a CL place because we didn't get six games worth of cover just in case.
Kitchandro Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Devastated. How could you not be? That wouldn't mean it would be a bad season, it would be an exceptional season. But we'd always look back and see it as a waste, a total fvck up that we managed to blow it. We'll never get this chance again and we have to make it count.
RowlattsFox Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Be gutted initially, but eventually accept its still an excellent result. In order for us to finish 5th now we'd have to have a pretty poor run of form after these next 2 games against some poor teams. I want top 3 now, I want to avoid a qualifier for the Champions League and I think I also seen that if Chelsea win Champions league and Man Utd win Europa League 4th wouldn't be a Champions League position. I know that may seem unlikely but it'd be bloody typical.
MPH Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Definitely gutted to start with, but im sure after a couple of weeks of reflection i would see it as fantastic and hope to at least maintain that for the following year or hopefully buid on it..
STUHILL Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Anything out of the top 4 would be a disappointment and I could just imagine the media and other fans all calling us faliures etc, which would be a joke. I really hope we can finish in the top 3. We deserve it considering how great we have been so far and against all the odds. My only concern is, we finish a close 2nd to someone and people will forget how amazing that is, and start to moan we didn't win it and blame the January window or Claudio's tactics or something stupid.
Gerard Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 One of the main reasons it would be terrible is it means we've had relegation form for the last 14 games and puts our survival in jeopardy next season. 5th or 6th is absolutely unacceptable from this position.
Viva Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Very disappointed. We have got to take this chance to create history. I'd be happy with 3rd but wouldn't take it if it was offered now.
bovril Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 5th or 6th is definitely not the worst case scenario. Obviously it would mean that we had gone on a pretty poor run of form, but overall I would be delighted with European football. I'm trying to stay pretty zen about the season from here on in, it's been great whatever happens really. No point fretting over the hypotheticals now.
Jimbo Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 I think if we don't finish in a champions league spot then it really will be a case of "victim of our own success" With the rise of Vardy, Mahrez, Kante etc We'll have the vultures circling all summer. Obviously our best chance of keeping them will be champions league football. Offer me top 6 3/4 months ago, I'd be delighted. Anything outside the top 4 now would be hard to take. It's daft to say these types of things as a Leicester fan, can't actually believe I'm typing that out, reading it back as I write it seems ridiculous to say.

Obviously our best chance of keeping them will be champions league football. this is it in a nutshell. going to be tough to ward off the big money (wages) offers and without CL football to try and keep them for another season, going to be a nightmare.
Captain... Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 It depends why. If Arsenal, Spurs, Man City and United all go on unbelievable runs and we finish 5th on 75-80 points, hats off to them nothing we could do. If we suffer appalling luck and it is not through lack of effort or application on the part of the players or the manager, so be it. If we lose Vardy or Schmeichel to injury and fail because we don't have adequate back-ups I would be pissed off. If we end up in that position because we just stop trying, think we can turn up and win against the lower teams then I will be pissed off. All about context really.
Fox Ulike Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 The only precedent we have to follow in the Premiership era is the Norwich title challenge of 92-93. However, by the time 24 games had been played in 1993, Norwich had already dropped down to third. So, the only precedent from League history in my lifetime is now Forest’s campaign of 1978. And, as they never stop reminding us, they actually won it that year. A collapse looks unlikely. However, it’s not unlikely that some of the big clubs will actually pull their fingers out and give us some serious competition for the title. I can see us finishing anywhere in the top four now. Which would be an AMAZING achievement.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 I'd be gutted if we finished outside the top 4 but whatever happens I'll always look back on this season as an amazing one. One of my main worries at the moment is that we start losing a few games and all the positive energy gradually seeps away. I'd hate to think that after a run of average/poor performances we'd begin to lose the all for one mentality and the incredibly supportive atmosphere we have generated so far would go stale or turn sour. We've got to stay behind the lads even if they do end up falling short. If we don't, what would that say about us? Anyone who gets on the players' backs during or after poor displays in the coming weeks may as well **** off and support Man U as far as I'm concerned.

If Vardy or Schmiecal gets injured we’ll just go into the loan market. Shimples. You can’t expect a top goalkeeper to come and sit on our bench for the rest of the season just in case Kasper gets injured.

This isn't the championship, the window is firmly shut for us
Guest Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 As with most other people I'd be disappointed but we all know that Leicester finishing 6th is incredible. We would have sold our 6th born for that at the beginning of the season. I'm hoping for top 3 but after so long at the top losing out on being champions would even be disappointing.
LCFCABC Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 It'd be some fall from grace finishing outside the top 4. I think its down to the other teams and really cannot see who is going to put a run together to challenge for that 4th spot. Unless Man U do it it's looking less likely that anyone else will challenge
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Top 6 would be superb. Top 4 would be even better. Either way if we manage to secure a spot playing in Europe that would be a wonderful achievement and season for this club, manager and group of players. I'm hopeful at this stage we can get into the top 4. Or even win the title, that's possible of course and it would be one of the greatest achievements in football in many many years.
bluebeau Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 It will likely happen if Vardy gets injured. I still say we should be getting in somebody on loan - I'm not too sure but I don't think a loan player is allowed in the Premiership now the Jan window is closed? Can anyone confirm the rules?
