smr Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Schmeichel was immense today, totally immense. stuff of champions that when called on every player has stood up this season and been counted. Can't believe how nonchalant he was when Delaney hit the bar - then confirmed it on the radio when he said he knew the shot wasn't going in the second it left his foot. Absolute quality !

Absolute quality ! Exactly, yes It hit the top of the bar but Kasper wasn't worried at all.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Exactly, yes It hit the top of the bar but Kasper wasn't worried at all. He was the only one though
smr Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 He was the only one though He was, my heart was close to beating out my chest then followed by a massive exhalation of air from me wehn the ball hit the bar!
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 This is truly, truly incredible. Wow. Excellent win today, I think I said it on here before that or at least thought it to myself, there's been times this season where I thought we'd draw, but today's win again proved to me that we win these games now, whereas before I was nervous of us getting results against sides such as Watford, Newcastle, Stoke, Palace etc.Absolutely excellent, crucial 3pts in our title hopes. Although we are winning games by fine margins, this is a sign of champions when a team can grind out results both home and away. We seemed to cope very well with Palace, their strengths were on the wings with Bolasie and Zaha and I think we did well to stay resilient against their strengths. They did have their chances and there probably were times where Bolasie and Zaha managed to get round or behind our fullbacks, but overall they did a great job considering the talent that they both offer. But, it's not just about Bolasie and Zaha, they are a well balanced team, so today's win was highly impressive.8pts clear at the top of the Premier League. This is just amazing, I'm so happy. When our fans were singing 'We're gonna win the league' at the end of the match, that was up to 15mins long, consistently.
Population-1 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 The belief within the squad has been apparent since we started this run way back in March last year. It is easy to forget we are now talking a 12 month period of form that has been nothing short of spectacular. What has changed is the belief in what we can achieve. In April 2015 it was Premier League survival, at Christmas it was Champions League qualification, now it is the holy grail of the title. The pressure experienced last season will undoubtedly help over these last 7 games, but the goal is now totally different and unfamiliar territory to the vast majority of the squad. That could help or hinder, time will tell. However, the mentality of genuinely keeping sights on the hurdle of the next game is exactly right. Far too many pundits predicting various outcomes between now and May. If we fall into the trap of getting dazzled by this we risk losing the focus to which we have been so impressive thus far. The lack of injuries is predominantly down to outstanding sports scientists and physios within the club, not fluke. This will now prove crucial as we head into the home straight. If we can keep key players injury free, and am talking the CB pairing of Morgan and Huth alongside Kante and Vardy, we can achieve this. To lose any one of the central spine would impact upon the dynamics of the team, as it is our awareness of each others positional play that has contributed so much to our achievements. Any disruption to this equilibrium could temporarily stall us, and confidence can just as easily sap away as it can build. Despite having such a strong squad ethic, we still have many players on the sidelines lacking significant game time, and at this stage of the season I would be anxious if the likes of Wasilewski, Inler or Ulloa had to enter the fray for for more than a game. This is not a reflection on them as individuals, as they are each outstanding performers in their own right, it would just rock the finely tuned balance of the side. So, whilst sounding a note of caution, I agree that the reaction of the players today did demonstrate an emerging belief that this can happen. 7 games remains a long road, yet whatever happens from here on in the players can reflect on this season with immense pride. We may never see the likes of it again, but in this age of power brokers dominating the game, we are so fortunate to have done so if only once. Long may it continue!
ARM1968 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Said to my mate last night over a few quiet pints, that if we won today I'd start to believe. He just text me a question mark. I replied that if Bournemouth get a result tomorrow I might consider it. Just can't bring myself to truly accept, because nothing is ever won until it's won.
Thracian Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Another hard-fought but thoroughly deserved victory, another clean sheet, 13 points from the last 15 to remain eight points clear and understandable euphoria all round .... but if the title is our target, rather than the Europa League, then, as our goalkeeper says, we've won nothing yet and still have a lot of hard work ahead of us. But, with seven games left, the pressure is, if anything, mounting faster on the chasing pack than ourselves. Our latest clean sheet, making 11 in all this season, was especially satisfying given Palace's desperation to finally record a win this year, and their strength down the flanks. and it's hard to rate anyone in the back four as anything below an eight. Once again I didn't really understand why we retreated to the edge of the box so willingly in the last 25 minutes and thus invited so much pressure onto us but I suppose it's the Italian way for all that I thought it cost us all of our passing fluency which in turn offered Palace still more possession. Watching balls bounce off the bar or fizz untouched across our six-yard box is not good for the nerves but, overall, we defended exceptionally, Kasper dealt confidently with most of what got through to him and everyone worked with the intensity we've come to expect as the norm. Chris Powell talked highly of Drinkwater but I still wish he'd take the responsibility of shooting when in a good position because his lack of shots or goals is his biggest remaining weakness by far. The pairing of Vardy/Mahrez might only have threatened spasmodically, but they proved lethal just the same and added yet another impressive goal to a long tally this season not long after Mahrez had wasted what was perhaps an even easier chance that would have rounded off another sublime move. Indeed our passing got so imaginative at that time, we'd have been a threat to any defence for a while. But once we took the lead we rarely had the same numbers or commitment going forward. But the latest three points look lovely in the table and, for all our change of emphasis, we conceded very few clear-cut chances yet again. Altogether an important victory from a tricky fixture and no relief for the chasers! Happy days and congratulations all round.
Matt Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Unbelievable! Crazy, I'm lost for words, I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do! All I know is I can't get this grin of my face and my face is starting to ache! Great win, think we were the better team from what I heard, Palace had their chances and made us nervy but we deserved it I think.
Clever Fox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 I always new that this would be a very tough game. But we showed a sign of readiness and professionalism right from the start. I think the next two are winnable which will put us in a very strong position with the games Spurs have coming up. Still it's one game at a time and eventually we'll run out of games. Onwards and upwards we go.
Max Power Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Has the Okazaki thread been locked? Thought Shinji was superb today. Tenacious and classy. Industrious and effective. Love him.
Kendal Fox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 PHEW!!!!! I can't believe these 1 nillers??!! We were the better side for at least 2 thirds of the match, with some serious squeaky bum moments in the last third!! Saying that, we probably could have had 3 or 4, had the execution been a little tighter. Schlupp's pace was absolutely blistering, winning us that corner. And he only had 5 minutes!!! Love to see him start for the Southampton match. Hopefully a 2 or 3 goal haul, to ease the pressure of these narrow wins. That said, thrilled to bits and the lads and Claudio deserve our thanks and gratitude for what they are continuing to forge here!!!C'mon Cherries!!!!

I feel the finishing hasn't been as accurate as earlier in the season but the defence has stepped up 10 fold ... it is brilliant what Ranieri has done...
st albans fox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 And that shows the intelligence of the management team. Was impossible to keep the conversion rate at such a high level so the only thing to do was concentrate on tightening up at the back. Pearson thought along similar lines last year after yanited but lacked the personnel and tactical nouse to make it work. Nigel has many talents but tactically, Claudio is on a different level. [
Mark_w Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Spurs have Liverpool and Manu after tomorrow!! Gotta drop points there surely!!!!!!!!!!!! And Max is going to take points off them tomorrow so there's that.
VLC86 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 What did Kasper get booked for? Probably the bit where he tried to melt the refs face by shouting at him I recon.
Illusion35 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Said Kasper was booked for dissent on NBC stream.
dedlock Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 The dream continues. One more win,one less game to go. If we were not LCFC,if we had not been bottom this time last year, would there be any issue? Champions? Why not?

If it was Chelsea with the same season everyone wouldn't have any doubts they will win it... or call them lucky... sorry you don't get lucky over 38 games
Freesolo Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Kasper has really come into his own the second half of this season he has improved a lot, although the credit really has to go to the whole back line. He must be up there with most clean sheets. I can remember at the start of the season if a team scored 2 it didn't matter because we always felt we will score 3, probably due to teams taking us serious now and not being as open
SemperEadem Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 The scenes at the end worry me that they may come back to haunt us. Spurs play twice before we kick off , they may still be 8 points adrift or only 2. We must have perspective.
dedlock Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 If it was Chelsea with the same season everyone wouldn't have any doubts they will win it... or call them lucky... sorry you don't get lucky over 38 games It was round about a year ago we appeared relegation certainties. If you add that extraordinary run at the end of last season to what we have done this season it's been an incredible year. What impresses me is the team seem so relaxed. As if last season was real pressure and this is fun!
