I'd like to preface this topic by saying the number of Facebook 'likes' is clearly not a particularly good representation of how many fans we have but it does provide a guide on how many people are now interested in us. But how do we compare globally?

Barcelona 92.046m

Manchester United 68.777m

Bayern Munich 36.250m

Arsenal 35.850m

Atletico Madrid 12.312m

Spurs 7.589m

England 6.148m

Inter Milan 5.801m

Besiktas 5.759m

Marseille 4.668m

Napoli 3.796m

Benfica 3.314m

Valencia 3.158m

Leicester 3.064m

Schalke 2.798m

Everton 2.585m

Olympique Lyonnais 2.546m

Ajax 2.099m

Bayer Leverkusen 2.094m

Fiorentina 2.013m

Newcastle 1.934m

FC Basel 1.743m

West Ham 1.575m

Celtic 1.496m

Hamburg 768k

Rangers 531k

Forest 276k

Tigers 187k

Obviously not an exhaustive list but gives you an idea of where we were (similar to Forest) 24 months ago and where we are now.

I have to say I am stunned how many huge, traditional clubs we have blown out of the water on this. Power of the PL I guess, crazy. Would be interesting to know what percentage of that 3m is from England. There'll probably be greater numbers in Algeria and Thailand!!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the club has nearly three times as many Facebook fans in Algeria than it does in the UK. God knows where though.

Oh, here we go - from a BBC Sport article from last month:

Perhaps the most significant example of fans from a country following a team because of a specific player comes at Leicester City.

The Premier League leaders have 347,998 friends in Algeria - a huge 16.6 % of their total - which dwarfs the 139,982 fans they have in the UK.

Is that the Riyad Mahrez effect?

Never been on Facebook ever, but aren't these figures skewed somewhat by the 'fairytale story' surrounding the championship.

Ie, more people looking it up who had never heard of us?

We had 170,000 Facebook likes before we got promoted tbf.

When I first Liked the official page there was about 40,000 lol it was back in the day before it would come up with Suggested Results. You'd type out "Leicester" and it would come up with the Leicester (city, not football) Wiki entry. Now you put "Le..." and it's the official page and about 900 fan pages
