VLC86 Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Blimey, I always thought there would be stuff coming out, about this season, now the fight is over. It's a bit of a stunner, if the story hasn't been lost in translation. I know mate, spoils the whole thing for me.
cruyff99 Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Hope the added media attention at all levels of the club doesn't result in a loss of focus for next season. I'd prefer this sort of stuff to be private and not exposed to the tabloid journalists
simFox Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Aye you sure he didn't just turn up with drinky? Might translate awkwardly in Thai, especially if drinkys brother was with him, drinky drinky.
joedawg Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Don't understand why this annoys people? It's just another paragraph in the fairytale that is vardy and leicester city? "Star striker who's now banging in worldies against the world champions and is about to lift the premier league trophy played non league most his life and also developed a drinking problem, but look at him now" etc etc I say massive fair play for turning it around, if true of course Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 These guys are all human... If this story is true... Just shows vardy is one of the few footballers nowadays who are most close to "normal" people... We get depressed, we have ups and downs etc. It's an inspirational story true or not, to turn your life around and fulfill your potential and maybe exceed all expectations is the true inspiration to all "normal" people who don't live in modern footballs bubble.

mikael2 Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 He is my favourite player in the Team. But I admire all of them.
nobby.bk Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 It makes Vardy's success more monumental. If it's true, it will help to sell Vardy's book. The story should be seen as inspirational. How nice if more players or people can fight their demons and rise up to become stars, like Vardy.
Grewks Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Maybe Top just has mad bantz and it was him who created the 'Bring your vodka and your charlie' in reference to this.
Webbo Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I can believe this story but I don't think the owners should air it publicly.
MrSpaM Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I think we can let him off even if this is true tbh If this was still the case there is no way he'd be in the England squad Guy has clearly turned his life around
GaelicFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Well he has certainly got over his booze problem this week He has been bang on it ! Sheffield people that knew him will tell you booze has always been a part of his story , the man has some fractured family relationships and other issues , like many millions he may have sought solutions in the bottom of a bottle. he obviously has got it under control because this season he has been world class We won the league He is happy on £100k a week and really good luck to him. His story is amazing !
GaelicFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 And another thing ..... How good are these owners ! They really really care !
Richmondfox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I'm not saying it's all rubbish but surely he's not that careless to basically say our main striker was a liability when he came, it just looks bad on vardy when other papers pick it up and twist it all. As the posts above have said, it's an inspirational story and great for people with problems to hear, no matter how bad things seem they can get better but you have to make the change. He hasn't got anything to lose by saying this, if anything it shows the owners have a personal connection with the players. He hasn't thrown Vardy under the bus, if true it was Vardy who was wasting the owners investment but all worked out in the end.
Fox92 Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Not sure I believe it but either way I'm not bothered... Loads of great players were drunk sometimes (didn't Tony Adams sometimes play while drunk? Look how good he was; still the greatest English defender in my lifetime).
RoboFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 If this is the case then I see no reason why I shouldn't be turning up to work drunk every day... I'd be MD of the company within two years.
Out Foxed Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 i'd heard the same from someone who knew him a few years back. credit to him, hard work pays off.
WigstonWanderer Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 This is a story of redemption, and should play well in the media IMO. Far better to have struggled with, and then conquered early pressures and to have gone on to a stunning career than to have been unable to handle success and gone off the rails like George Best, Paul Gascoigne, etc.
Mark_w Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 "Only weak people feel pressure". Discuss. To clarify, I was mocking Jermaine Beckford's naivety.
biggs Posted 5 May 2016 Posted 5 May 2016 it's the alcohol that's fuelled Jamie's rise to the top! And after the celebrations how about a hat trick this week to get back on top of the goal scoring chart
Fox92 Posted 5 May 2016 Posted 5 May 2016 You're not bothered - of course you're not bothered. Why should you be? Thanks be that 'Young Mr. Sri' was bothered, because it's quite possible that City wouldn't have won the title if he hadn't have bothered. Adams played when the 'booze culture' still had a hold in team sport in this country. Have a think about what Arsenal ever won outside of England when Adams, Winterburn, Parlour, Merson and Dixon were in the squad - it was the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup 1993–94. Why did Bobby Robson leave him out of the 1990 World Cup Squad if he was the "the greatest English defender" in your lifetime"? When Wenger came in he stopped what was known as the 'Tuesday Club' culture. Alcohol has a deleterious effect on the human body. Take alcohol away from the equation and your players perform better. Simple. I meant I'm not bothered now because he obviously doesn't do it anymore.
