thegaffa Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Having watched the 3 friendlies so far, and yes with experimental sides and not at full strength. I feel that we are missing Kante's derensive work but for me we are missing his driving runs from deep more, which set the tone for others to break quickly. so as sad as I am, I recalled some of Bentaleb's performances and yes watched a bit of YouTube( I know it generally makes poor players look good) it showed that he has the ability to both defend and start attacking phases by driving at the opposition. he is nearly 6"2, strong and covers the ground quickly and still only 21. Then I thought about Lucas for Liverpool, very experienced 29 year old, internationally and also in European completions. he breaks up a lot of opposition play, has a good range of passing and does drive forward with the ball, not so much as Bentaleb though Would they any good for us? Or do I need to stop thinking and relax. Just a suggestion.

Callabinho Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Slimani....just give them what they want, if we want to dine with the very best we've got to bring a quality accompaniment to the party.
Grantham Fox Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Peres, Lemina, Kaputska and Slimani. I would be very happy with those.

Spiritwalker Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 I think we are short of a striker and a c.mid. Ings would be perfect, but probably not available. Slimani seems to be a popular choice but I don't think I have ever seen him play.

No. One is a winger and a number 10, Amartey can only play in the midfield within a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 as a defensive midfielder much in the same role as a more limited casemiro.

We either sign a box to box that can beat people on the dribble and drive us forward from the midfield (because all drinkwater can do is ping balls from deep) or abandon the 4-4-2 because there is no way without a player similar to kante we can play a 4-4-2 effectively enough to compete with the big boys. The longer Ranieri takes to register this and rely on what is familiar rather than adapting to the team the longer we will struggle. I just hope he catches on fast because it is imperative we get off to a fast start in a season where so many are going for top places.

Not what I saw last night. He is a box to box, as is Kaputska if we sign him. Danny is also a bustling up and downer or a sitter depending on what we need. He added a ton of energy when he came on last night. I think Mendy is more the sitter for a 4-3-3 that you are talking about. Shame Musa couldn't put away his chance last night but if he starts bagging in the season, who cares what happened in preseason?

Are you sure you are clear on what a box to box is? Running up and down the field does not make you a box to box. and in response to your edit; preseason is essential for 2 things: Fitness, and implementing tactics, so yes i care about preseason.

If running up and down isn't box-to-box, what is? That's the definition of it. No need to adopt such a superior than thou attitude, mate. In response to your comment about my preseason comment, surely you learn more by losing than winning? I said I didn't care about the result, not the game.

By that logic i could be a box to box (my stamina is insane!); you need have above average all around attributes to be a good box to box, i will spare you the enumeration of attributes required but neither Amartey or the Pole have those required attributes.

I'm guessing one of the attributes for box-to-box is stamina though? You also managed to sort of apologize and patronize at the same time again in this post. Like someone who starts a sentence with no offence. Anyway, back on topic on who we want, I think Kaputska would fill a gap as he looks very good. Skillful, stamina, passing, tackles plus most importantly, a combative nature and a willingness to sacrifice for the team. You don't get in a good Polish national team at 19 for nothing. Also, I would still love Slimani (don't think it will happen) as I feel without Jamie in the team, we lack a clinical finisher.

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 Lucas Leiva anyone available for £2.9m & still only 29? For me though we are still lacking in a couple of areas. An attacking option at right back who can challenge Simpson as for me Hernandez & Amartey can do the job but aren't good enough competition in this area. Peres would be my preferred option. Someone in the middle of the park who can drive the play forward. Drinky & Mendy are too alike but don't offer us the power getting forward. Lemina would be perfect for this. Another creative midfielder, this is a must for me. I think there's too much burden on Mahrez to create something special. So when he doesn't have a great game he gets so much unnecessary stick from our fans it's unreal. Kaputska seems like a gem for his price. Finally I think we need a proven finisher. I know many will argue Vardy's that but I still think we need someone else. A few players come to mind who I would like to see. The obvious is Slimani but what about Charlie Austin? Or even Mitroglou? He's 6 ft 2, scored 20+ goals last year, from what I've seen of him he's clinical in the box, I doubt he would expect to start each game & I know people right him off because of his time at Fulham but look what he had around him. In our style of play pressing & working hard to create plenty of chances he would fit straight in.
norwichfox Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 I still want Bartosz Kapustka, and would be happy to see that conclude business in and out for this transfer window. We've had 2 threads closed on him now, so difficult to keep up with the speculation on this. Does the team and management return to UK today or are they flying directly to Sweden?
dbtcity Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 Sebastian Giovinco anyone? Would be a treat to watch him in behind vardy, won't get the workrate of oka but will bag goals and get assists for fun

Hopefully confirmation in the next day or two http://sport.tvp.pl/26343768/kapustka-potwierdza-zagram-w-leicester-city "Yes, of all the offers tabled, Leicester wanted me the most," “Ranieri's interest was a big factor for me." "He was asking about me, he wanted me to join the team. This convinced me, but there were many factors." "I'm not going there only because of the name of the club, or because they won the Premier League. I'm optimistic and think I have a real chance of playing time."
