Dames Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 If he stays at Leicester he will become a legend, if he goes he could become an international superstar, but more likely he will struggle to adapt, get injured, fail to live up to expectations, he will have to be amazing to win over the hard to please fans there. There are many examples of players taking a "step up" and failing, the most relevant is probably Rickie Lambert. I don't know if he regrets moving to Liverpool, it is slightly different as they were his boyhood club, but since leaving Southampton, where he was loved, he has lost his England place, been sold to relegation fodder West Brom and scored 3 goals over 2 seasons. He is very likely to become a Rickie Lambert if he joins Arsenal and its not down to his own personal ability but more to do with how Wenger sets his team out. JV will eventually be pushed out to the wing and as we've seen when he plays for England he struggles there (San Marino and Portugal being examples). Hopefully he stays with Leicester where the team is tailored around him and his strengths he'll become a 'international star' all on his own at Leicester because the profile is there from last seasons title win.
Fox92 Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 What do you think makes us any different to any other "fan base" in English football? You're having a pop at the fans who don't agree with your thinking - I suspect the ones who've reacted strongly about his mooted move to Arsenal. The only thing which makes us different is that we support LCFC and that our team has just accomplished the well-nigh impossible in modern football. That makes them unique - that quality is what has caused your 'love' for the squad and what has caused the furore about Vardy (and Mahrez and Kante and Drinkwater and Chilwell) possibly going where the dosh is greater. No-one wants to see this team fall apart and, altough you'll see many of us rationalising what is seen as inevitable, we don't think it should happen - that the lure of money and a 'bigger' club should tear apart the best team there's been in English football for quite some time. You don't 'love' Vardy. You're a bit like the blokes who 'love' Rachel Riley. You love Vardy as a footballer (and in her case, she as a beauty) but you don't know who he is. When he's on the pitch, sticking it to some bewildered defence I'm lost in admiration and joy. But when I see him potentially leaving the club for one of our rivals, especially when the opportunity for so much more is on the horizon, then there's going to be some less than favourable reaction. We've seen our team do the almost impossible. We've elbowed our way onto the top table, in spite of all the greedy fvckers trying their best to force us down. Now, when they've failed to keep us down the fair way, they're trying to cherry-pick one of our brighter stars. It's just not cricket. What I want is for Jamie Vardy and the rest to stay for a couple more seasons - to prove a point. I want Leicester City to honour them in return - because loyalty and respect is a two-way street. If it costs a little bit more than what the Sris expect then I would fork out some cash to support that possibility. We could call it the Save Our City fund. Whyever not? To badly paraphrase Dylan Thomas, we should "...rage, rage against the dying of the light". The light in this case being the incandescent light of the Leicester City first team squad which has set English football alight since 2008-2009. Yes I'm "having a pop" because I've seen comments like "pikey", "cvnt" etc etc - there is no need for these sort of words towards a player that has helped us win the top flight for the first time ever. I literally don't think any other fan base would use these horrific words. It's the same with Nigel Pearson too - we get people on here that still don't seem to appreciate the work he did here twice. So yeah, I'm having a pop at those "fans". Loyalty is a two way thing, correct. But I'd like to think people appreciate Vardy for sticking round and improving his game after his first season here when he could so easily have walked away.
sylofox Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 I support LCFC and our players not other clubs players. When he returns I would not boo him. But if he scores and celebrates like he has just won the world cup then he can fvck right off.
Koke Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 Imagine he comes back with Arsenal, scores and celebrates like he did at the Hawthorns. Oh dear
4everfox Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 I find it completely disrespectful that Arsenal assume they can take any player off us with ease. We are the current champions of this country and Arsenal are not so therefore we are currently better then Arsenal, it's hard to argue against that point. Sure, they are a big club but we are better and I'd rather be better then Arsenal then bigger then them.

ithuriel Posted 17 June 2016 Posted 17 June 2016 Calmed down a tad, so changing what I said before and I think if he was to go, he should try for something better than Arsenal.
