Stevosevic Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Pretty simple question. I've been watching Leicester for 20 years now, i cant remember a player being as popular amongst the fans as Jamie Vardy. Some may disagree. But will he still have the same love from us if he leaves? I think we all expect Kante to leave this summer and I'm sure he'd get a standing ovation on his return, but would JV?
RobHawk Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 I think all will be instantaniously forgotten if stays! If he goes, probably not. You compare to Kante but they are very different situations, Vardy has developed much further at out club, over a longer period of time and stated numerous times across the season that he's not abut the money and won't be going anywhere. To then go to the highest bidder in the summer will be tough for most fans to swallow - especially when we are in this unique situation of being in the champions league. Its not like we are aiming to languish in mid table and going nowhere next year!
Fox92 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 He helped us win the top flight for the first time. I will love him (and the rest of this squad) forever. Simple as that. We must have the strangest fanbase in the Country.
Captain... Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 I think everyone should just hold off until he actually says something. Nobody knows what is going on and it seems like a lot of people are shit stirring (Giroud the big cvnt). Vardy has said nothing, until he does we shouldn't be speculating on what he is or isn't trying to do and giving him or anyone close to him abuse. He should be focussing on England, if he leaves or stays I will expect a statement from him and depending on what he says I will judge him.

Its not like we are aiming to languish in mid table and going nowhere next year! It's this that makes it different, especially the 2nd part. We plucked him out of non-league, gave him a chance and stuck with him when he stank the place out when he was first here. He's become rich and famous due to his time at LCFC. Sure, we've benefitted from his quality, goals and commitment, but he has to realise that he has benefitted from this club's patience and belief in him, not to mention that he has always been a fan favourite. We expect that love and loyalty to be reciprocated to an extent, but the manner which he claimed to love the club and then has seemingly engineered a move away at the first opportunity is a kick in the teeth..... However as mentioned all will be forgiven if he makes the right call and stays!!
BlueJoe Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 He helped us win the top flight for the first time. I will love him (and the rest of this squad) forever. Simple as that. We must have the strangest fanbase in the Country. Small club mentality... We want bigger things and if we are to try and grow from our current position we need to fend off the likes of arsenal this season other wise we are back to square one!!!
Fox92 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Small club mentality... We want bigger things and if we are to try and grow from our current position we need to fend off the likes of arsenal this season other wise we are back to square one!!! Forever loving the players that delivered us success has no correlation to a "small club mentality" or going back to square one. I'm not really bothered if ANY player wants to leave this club, but I'll still appreciate what they did here. I rekon we're the only fanbase in the Country that isn't 100% behind people that gave us success.
The Railway Man Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Yes, he was the striker in a team that did something beyond our wildest dreams. Only in football could this be into a question, any other sport and he's a legend forever after that.

Some may disagree. But will he still have the same love from us if he leaves? I think we all expect Kante to leave this summer and I'm sure he'd get a standing ovation on his return, but would JV? Of course not. The reason we love him is because he plays for OUR club. Would i hate him? no. i'd want him to do well in his career and i'd remember him fondly, but thats it.
Dames Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 He'll always be appreciated for what he's help the club achieve this season no matter what. However the speed in which he apparently wants to jump ship for a better deal and the way he's gone about it is going to tarnish that. I'd say if he goes he'll drop from the top 3 most appreciated players this season right down to the bottom. In a few years people will talk about Mahrez magic and Captain Morgan and when Vardy gets mentioned it will be 'Yeah he was good weren't he but f**ked off first chance he got.' If he stays though eventually people will forgive unless his actions cause another administration.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Yep, for me, I'd always love him. He worked his way up through the leagues, Leicester gave him the opportunity to play in the higher levels of English football and since his move here he's got better and better each season. Eventually leading up to being part of a Premier League title winning team. The current team who have just won us the PL title will always be in the hearts of City fans I'd imagine, whether they stay or move on.
kingcarr21 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 would we still love him. Of course. He could take a shit on me and kidnap my wife and I would still love him (in fact if he took my wife I would be over the moon )

I rekon we're the only fanbase in the Country that isn't 100% behind people that gave us success. What about the Arsenal fans constantly giving Wenger grief because they haven't won the league for 12 years? The boos were pretty loud where I was watching in Manchester when Van Gaal lifted the FA Cup too. I may accuse our fans of many things but that phenomenon is far from unique to us.
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 How can you hate a player who was top scorer in our first league title? Especially a player who gave us everything, everytime he put on the shirt. Players get flak when they have been sold without asking to move. He's actively looked to move
GaelicFox Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 I think , If he goes he will not be on that "legend status" pedestal He will get a nice round of applause on returning but We won't sing his name If he stays , we sing his name forever Hate is an aweful word , can't hate him , no one should

Arsenal fans are a bit ungrateful for me. I get not winning a league title is bad for a club as big as them but they constantly finish top 4 and two back to back FA Cups recently was special (a third would have been unbelievably superb). I just can't believe how many people turned on Vardy. Calling him every name under the sun and it's so undeserved for what he has helped us achieve. It's probably the same people that still don't appreciate what Pearson did here (twice).
Aus Fox Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Players get flak when they have been sold without asking to move. He's actively looked to move Players like Joe Mattock who hand in transfer request and think they are bigger than the club, yes. Players who have an offer accepted for them and then listen to the offer, making a personal decision on what is best for themselves and their family, no. There is a world of difference.
Fox92 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Players get flak when they have been sold without asking to move. He's actively looked to move When has he come out and said he wants to leave? When did he say that? Where did he say that? You're just basing that on what you read in the newspaper.
RonnieTodger Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 How could you not? He contributed massively to our first (and probably only) title in our 132 year history. Going to Arsenal doesn't change that, whether he said people should stay or not. We still sing a song about Iwan Roberts. He left on good terms but what he achieved here isn't comparable to anything Vardy has done. Jamie Vardy will always be a Leicester legend. Every player from last season will be.
foxy boxing Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 i would still admire and appreciate what he did for us but the history of players leaving leicester is not all that good and he should remember that, i would personally still like how the guy plays football but i wouldn't like him all that much as a person

Maybe but people will be deeply hurt if city match arsenals package and he walks away Deeply hurt
Captain... Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 If he leaves or stays it depends how he conducts himself. If he goes and kisses the badge and says how great it is to play for a big club then he will get some stick. If he acknowledges everything we did for him, but admits he just couldn't turn down that sort offer, then I would respect him more, but it would still feel a bit of a kicker after he has only just signed a new deal.
Deanosbeano Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Would I still love him? Yes of course, the team he played for and won the league for, I will forever be grateful, never thought I would ever say, in my life time LEICESTER ARE CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND!!!!! The whole team will go down in history and he is/was part of "MY TEAM" The same goes for all of them, every single one of them. ETERNALLY GRATEFUL AND PROUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Players come and go, we make new hero's all the time, he will just be another in a long list........................................
